I bought this truck for my son this Christmas and it has blown me away, it fills a gap in the bashing world and if you can appreciate what it is you’ll love it. Completely new driving style and skill set. Traxxas came through on this one and you cannot compare the Mojave to it.
I’m so torn between buying the Mojave 6 or this UDR. I’ve gone and looked at both at a local hobby shop. Just can’t decide. Want it more for the desert and dirt and grass. Not bashing or anything like that.
I love my UDR, and it's honestly stronger than I expected. Over a year with mine - broke the rear diff spool and the front sway bar. Everything else has been great, and I do jump it.
I love mine.....I've had it for 2 years.....added open diff.....thicker shock oils....and thicker diff lube.....handles so good.....don't have the light kit yet.....enjoy yours.....
Oh man this is my dream RC! I don't really have enough to acquire one yet but hopefully in the next couple years! In the meantime I'll share in your purchase and excitement!
With the high voltage per amplifier, connect the red and green wires to positive and the black wires to ground. Plug it into the receiver or power it off a battery. Either way the headlights and taillights will work.
bought mine christmas eve n its been a blast, got paddles all round and its still quick in the snow. my esc went out a week ago tho but luckily I got the warranty n traxxas is sending me a new esc plus new motor so I cant wait to put it back together
Idk if u found out yet but when trophy trucks and prerunners go in Sand they only have paddles in the back and a diff type of sand tires in the front look at the tires that the sand rails use and that’s the tire set up u want if ur gunna do all around paddles
I've often looked at the UDR, simply because at heart I'm a short course man.... I got to say I've watched a lot of UDR vids and to date your take and what your saying is incredibly appealing ... I like the way you describe this and the attention to detail is impressive from traxxas. I often thought the UDR is not for me because just like yourself I bash hard and thought it was a bit too expensive. But now I'm looking at it very differently from hearing your comments. 🤔 I'm hearing a man after my own heart. Maybe it's time I had one ... Thanks for the amazing take on the UDR mate ... Very well said , I really hope you enjoy it. Sure is nice in that blue...
I'm definitely a fan of the UDR, Ampro engineering here on youtube has an amazing interior upgrade. Love the number of different looks this truck can have depending on what parts of the body work are installed 👍
I really appreciate this video, I have the exact UDR and I’ve done stainless skid plates window nets, mud flaps, blue anodized aluminum lower arms, it’s my favorite type of vehicle to drive, I have the Mojave and Slash but yes it’s very different to drive despite the similarities to my Losi Baja Rey. I don’t usually put additional goods on my cars but the UDR is very special, despite the difficult body removal and install
Once they make a 1/5 scale udr I'll get one. Just a bit to small in my opinion to really get the scale of a trophy truck. So glad we have the udr and Baja Rey's been waiting for many years sense the old tmaxx days.
The UDR was priced at 699.99. Idc for led lights for 50$ . I've been playing the long gane with thus truck. I dont know when traxxas will eventually make a new updated version but the truck is awesome. As far as the long game goes I'm waiting for a lower price due to the fact the servo should be better especially especially for the retail price and the truck needs minor upgrades. Fir example the hex wheel adapters being plastic those wear out so that ls another after market part. Perhaps the sway bars need upgraded after stocked ones break. By all means i am not try to buy alluminum parts just the few to replace broke plastic version. If I was going to get anything alluminum might be the drive train , anything gear caseing Because I've heard about rear axle gear diff getting really hot. So besides for the few plastic parts that wear out break , any other alluminum would be for motor and gears. To help heat build up. You see all the other popular cars getting alot if upgrade parts but not UDR. After you purchase have the truck buy battery charger and batteries. Plus servo your at 1000$ I'd like to see the truck price at 500$ everything g else can stay Sam price that would balance out the parts that you need that should cane with truck in first place.
This truck is slick. I like it. Kind of an evolution of the Slash, which is showing it's age as it's a 20 year old design. It's not for backflips or sending 60 feet in the air but excels in terrain like the Baja 1000. And the blue, on my TV kinda has the appearance of blue liquid threadlocker. Not sure if it looks like that in person. Nice truck!
Sorry Jay. When I sent the message, I thought it was your first RC like that? I hadn’t got to the part where you said that you had already owned one before. 👊
Very nice unboxing! The stainless kit is a great thing to put in ones rig. The udr is definitely a great lookin truck, im building an ibeam prerunner using the udr body and a few of its parts at the moment, been a fun build.
I have both the UDR and the Mojave , UDR wins in scale looks / driving , Mo wins in speed and handling . Both great for driving experience , get the others for big sends , not these . Can't wait for a Jason running video on this one !!!!
Traxxas should just make a 1/8th slash or something the size of the Mojave. The UDR is like a complete wtf from traxxas. It's definitely not a basher which is what most people expect it to be, but it needs allot of work to take abuse. A 1/8th slash would be amazing. The Mojave can have some of the look and suspension movement of the UDR, but it has the durability I think most would be traxxas buyers are looking for when unintentionally buying a UDR and assuming it is a basher. Traxxas makes some really cool stuff but the UDR is something you definitely don't expect from them.
I personally don't like to bash rc truck. But this truck stands out love its realistic handling. After I get a udr. I'd like to make another chassie lower suspension. And have version of UDR as a muscle car that has more ground clearance then rc street cars. Because matched up with posi diff locked rear end. Traxxas could offer a awesome street muscle car with realism handling. Instead of carpet knife type rc cars.. hie the Udr is in its own bracket. The sane type suspension could be used to Make an on road off road type muscle car. That would be in same bracket as udr
Happy New Year Jason. I am curious, what makes you think that it is going to be so much different than the Losi SBR that you previously owned..an got rid if ? I believe that the UDR as the SBR mainly focuses on the driving side of the hobby rather than the bashing . Well I guess that we will just have to wait and see
Whenever I've sold a particular R/C and bought the same thing again later on, I've always ended up selling it again. Apparently there are some R/C's that I like but not enough to keep in the collection permanently. I've seen the same thing happen to you a few times. Will this be another one? Either way, these are very cool and I understand the appeal.
I know what you mean. O have given the DBXL-E three chances. And I never like it. I've picked up this and a Hammer Rey in the last week. So hopefully I am liking the solid axle trucks. :)_
I liked one that is similar to the baja trucks the udr is a more exact copy of them on the market together with the baja rey 1/6 but the mojave is great but it looks fake at least I don't like its aesthetics .

It is an entertaining truck, especially at 6s, skidding, making it run like a baja truck is great.

Not a mega difference. But the truck is lighter since it's 6s. So it should handle better.
Never thought much of this udr. You further confirmed it for me.
I have the choice to get a Super Rock Rey 2.0 BRAND NEW for $60 less than the UDR. Which would you choose? I have the SBR 2.0 already too.
