    Thanks David the step by step is great much like we used to do with our new sailers down in the engine room. Even for the simple things it is so much better to confidence in the young 18/19-year old’s who have never touched a wrench.

    My 2018 manual says to use the same 20w50 in engine and gearbox. Should I be using the 75w90 gear oil in gearbox as you show?

    Why can't you just use regular gear oil? Especially on an older bike with no warranty?

    The owner's manual for my 2019 Gear Up says to use 20w50 oil in the transmission. Which oil do you reccomend the 20w50 or the 75w90 gear oil.

    • @davidwaynegeorge2292
      @davidwaynegeorge2292 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Scott, the factory notified us of the change in 2020. You can continue to use 20w50 or switch to 75w90, either will be fine. The same gears and seals are in your bike as 2020-2021. Many folks on the various forums have stated they started using gear oil with older models URALs years ago just because they thought it was better and they have never had any adverse effects. Many dealers have also recommended gear oil as a solution over the years to ease stiff gear selection, reduce gearbox noise, etc. In cold weather gear oil can give you a little bit of stiff shifting till it warms up but under normal temps it's fine.

      Going to the 75/90 synthetic is what’s now recommended and now running it in my 2018 Gear up seems to shift and run smoother

      @@davidwaynegeorge2292 Hi David, thanks. Before they came out with the remote breather kit, on my 2019 Gear Up I removed the vent, blocked off the hole with a set screw, and got the dipstick with the vent. I put 1,000 miles on the bike driving 55-60mph and have not seen any oil leaks yet. I know that you said the cases are different, would the final drive still vent properly if I keep it set up like I have it or should I go with the remote breather kit?

    • @davidwaynegeorge2292
      @davidwaynegeorge2292 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scottevans8489 so long as the final drive is vented from either the dipstick or the case location you'll be fine.

    My new Geo, with 580 kms on it, broke down on the road last night. The engine may have thrown a valve or valve spring. It's going back to the dealer on a flat deck. Is this what I can expect after just 580 kms and ten days of ownership?

    • @BaronvonMoorland
      @BaronvonMoorland ปีที่แล้ว

      I would expect everything was covered at no cost. Hopefully that was the case.
