i was considering the g9 but either way it was panny that was inspiring me and thats 80%, if youre not inspired to go out and film then you just wont. awesome video
Those are facts! I had the Sony a7c and seriously was never inspired to go get any footage. I enjoyed it enough for stills but definitely not for video. Super stale and uninspiring image sadly. I have since been looking into panasonic and Olympus. Nice image for sure. Also the bmpcc. AMAZING image actually lol. Talk about being inspired to go shoot
So pleased the Gh6 is looking good : hopefully you have a colour science video in the works: using cinelike d on Gh5 & even natural picture profile created radioactive reds that I couldn’t tame in post & I hope that’s sorted now also the dr boost will be interesting Looking forward to upcoming great vids
Looking good! I think you made the right choice. Would still be interesting for you to try and borrow/rent an X-H2 just to get a robust and fair comparison though.
Surprised how well the autofocus did. It felt more "cinematic" in the studio because the transitions were smooth instead of what we're used to with Sony that kind of move by steps, making the background kind of flutter - even if there's no hunting. Everything else looked good! And that's still a lot of details for 300 fps. Reasonable softness, no obvious aliasing. Nice!
As a very poor film student, stuck with my xt3 I have to love it. While I live vicariously through your videos exploring everything I'll never have a chance to
"Stuck" with an X-T3 is NOT a bad thing. No ibis, but GREAT all around camera regardless of whatever the latest and greatest fad /offering may be. (I almost got one up from my X-T2 but went with X-H1 for the ibis alone.) But I lose out on better vid quality a bit. Always a trade-off. Peace.
There's an X-H1 on ebay for very cheap right now. Very. No, not mine.I got mine in the spring with battery grip for 700. Right now it's 400. Today is Oct 29. IBIS, baby. It lets you play with vintage....
I was washing dishes and listening to your video, and then I heard you are going to run across the street at 300fps so I immediately stopped and watch and admire your inspiring 300fps masterpiece!
SEE? the happiness, the joy, just came back to your life, Panasonic is the answer... it was right there, in your heart, glad you're back ! about the battery life, yes, its not the best, I feel like having 4 batteries is my ideal situation with my GH6, at first I had 2 for the GH6 and the G9. For the G9 that's plenty for the day but I've found out that: 1 GH6 battery = half the charge of 1 G9 battery, so I ended up getting 2 more for the GH6, looking forward to that 50-200 Leica, I have it on my cart and can't decide if that one or the 100-300 mkII.
I think the Fuji has the best color science IF it got the white balance correct, which in challenging situations like artificial light or in the greens wasn't the case often enough.
Panny-boy for the win, this is the best video quality in a good while. Just tap to focus and work your comedic magic. Backlighting isn't incredible with the lenses you used but everything else looked great. Even the studio shots looked really good, no hunting, seems like the GH6 is nearly the perfect camera. Hopefully the wildlife stuff is excellent and then bam, channel over :P
man, this was impressive! It almost felt like a sony on a gimbal. But I can see your constant anxiety that you might lose focus anytime. anyway very impressive footage. I like GH6 now.
5:00 is literally me looking at our world today. Well done Sony. 11:42 a lot on those few seconds. The trees/wind agreeing with your point. Score 2 points for the wind muff providing good audio. Oscar worthy content.

Best image quality since I subscribed to this channel. Gonna sell my bmpcc4k and buy this miracle.
I saw from your last video that you've switched to the GH6 (I know the characteristics of GH6 footage very well). As you can see, the AF on the GH6 is dramatically improved over any previous Panasonic camera, however, I still use manual focus most of the time. Kasey, I told you the color science was different, which makes it difficult for me to match it with my S1H (not that matters to you). A lot of people don't realize how great the GH6 really is and that's too bad, as this camera should enjoy the same success that the GH5 had. A deal breaker for some is the battery life on the GH6, depending on your recording resolution and speed, you get between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. I can record for nearly 2.5 hours on my GH5. Anyway, welcome back to Panasonic.
@@markshirley01 1080p on the GH6 is high quality, surprisingly much better than my S1H, XT4 and others. 1080p battery life is about 90 to 110 mins at 24p.
The most impressive thing about the IQ of the GH6 for me is the motion cadence. It looks like a global shutter sensor with absolutely minimal rolling shutter artifacts and I think this is due to a combination of fast sensor read speeds (less than 10ms in 4K 100P) and best in class IBIS which gives an incredibly stable image...Absolutely loving this camera.
I shoot wedding and have been using an XT4 with two panasonic g85s as "backups" But time and time again, If the lighting is good (old cam, bad ISO) and I correct for the reds in post. The actual Image keeps looking better, even out of the ancient body. Especially now that a got the pan/leica 12-60. Theres like a "beauty factor" to it, like the smaller sensor smooths the image out. -I really think aps-c might be in the uncanny valley. Theres a full frame look, and a m4/3 look, the middle seems to just be missing something on both ends. Then other times, the Fuji looks wonderful and and the g85s are dog dooty... so its probably just me
Looked amazing on the gh6 honestly. Really impressed by the gh6 video quality and the AF is plenty competent. Is it perfect? Probably not, but I don't care about perfect. It was never distracting if it ever did lose focus for a half a second. Picture was Panasonic Perfect. I love the colors from the panasonic too. And obviously at this point the IBIS doesn't even need praise its so damm amazing lol
Beautiful shots, thanks. The vlog halo worked well. Would like to see you review 100-400mm + 2x TC (need to remove plastic flange on some lenses for TC to fit but autofocus still works). 800mm shots are still pretty sharp and stabe, worth exploring and comparing to what it would be in full frame currency :p 300p punch-in on 800mm hmmm
GH6, envy you man, might rent one to test with the Leica 200, 10-25 and Helios 44-2. The slomos on the panny boyz used to loose a lot of IQ going beyond 120 FPS, your 300fps running-across-the-street-like-a-lunatic-maniac looks way better - can you test this on a duck and water reflections as that is one scenario I used to get the most crap results? The IBIS looks amazing, so tempted (if I wasn't broke at the mo). GH6 and Leica 200 vs 50-200 next test please! Also try the highlights -5 setting...
I've got the Pany 9mm... it's better than you think it is! 🙂 Found it on Amazon by chance. The right place at the right time. This lens joins the ranks of the 75mm f/1.8 in terms of giving FF a run for its money (I could also add a whole host of other lenses to that list too, but those two are standouts).
You have a complicated history with Panasonic. Been with Panasonic since my G85. All the things you mentioned here is the reason I upgraded to the GH6. Love the color science. Your 25m f1.4 is really good, I haven’t explored that lens. My favorite two lenses are 42.5m f1.2 and sigma 16m f1.4. Your autofocus looked great, I’ve had mixed results with interviews. 1 in 10 of my interviews has had autofocus mishap.
damn, Panasonic! The handheld looks really good. I need a 2nd camera body, mainly due due the recording limit of the x-t4. The X-H2s feels to expensive for me. For almost the same or even less I am trying a Sony a7iv (warehouse deal)...but looking at your GH6 footage makes me think twice. I hate gimbals. Of course it would be great to have a reliable AF and actually we should not buy any of these crippled cameras and just wait till they make one which actually is a good package for a good price. But we have needs and wants and are curious. I need a camera that takes great photos and can record long 1,5h+ videos and where I can get some good footage handheld for more creative work.
Honestly, the gh6 is a run and gun type of camera. The rig parts are a bit more affordable than other camera brands. You basically get what you paid for. Most of the camera industry, you are kind of forced to purchase the gimbal to get smooth cinematic shots. But Panny Boi just out did themselves, which is good 👍 though I do hope they fix some of their quirks in the later updates. I'm sure they will. 👍
@@alexandermedina9886 what are the quirks of the GH6? I have not really looked too much into the GH6. I looked at the S5. And kind of tried to like it but it felt somehow slow and not snappy enough to do photos and videos. I am 36 min in on my a7iv test, the camera feels really hot. Let's see how long she can go in 4k 24p 10bit 422 h265 with the kit lens in 23 degree C onto a normal SD card. But then It's kind of cold now, what do I do in summer time, do I really want to worry about my f* camera overheating issues?! for that kind of money?! not really :(
@@eatsimplefood quirks like light Streaking in dark scenery and red lining appearing in one of the recording codecs. Some people encounter it, but I haven't yet. So, we'll see if they could fix the issue in the later updates. If you are planning to purchase the gh6 I recommend purchasing it in BandH. I don't recommend purchasing any camera shop, because sometimes they do not value their returns. It's a great camera, it's just misunderstood by others. I find it funny how some people excuse sony and canon major quirks in their newer cameras. But when it comes to Panasonic, they like to bash the system. Honestly, Panasonic is getting better. They just need to work on their advertising and listen a bit more to their consumer. Other than that! They are good 👍
@@alexandermedina9886 thanks for the info. Ps: heat warning at 1h34min - very very hot to the touch and shutdown at 2h40min but stupid hot at relatively cool room temperature. So 100% of a problem on hot days. I can’t use this. :(
Problem is white people are magenta , pinkish. I dont get why making white people look yellow is considered „good“ skin tones. Its a stylized look but not real.
Yeah video looks much better than previous vidoes. That Laowa 7.5mm Tony 2 lens has excellent circular rainbow flares, and thats something Leica's are supposed to be renown for. But when you switched to the Leica 12mm Tony 2 there wasn't any of that rainbow flares by a lot of 3D pop (Its supposed to be called "Dimensionality" or "3D Effect", pop is when something is jumping out of the scene). Its definitely an upgrade over the Fuji. I also this week finally got out of Fujifilm after selling my last Fug gear. Now I get the purpose of Fuji. Fuji was partners with Nikon and badged some Nikon cameras as Fujifilm some years ago before mirrorless. I think Nikon and Fuji have a parent company called Mitsubishi Heavy Industries - so Nikon keeps Full Frame mirrorless and dabbles a little in apsc mirrorless, while Fuji basically copied the former Pentax model of just making apsc and medium format. Mitsubishi won't make Nikon and Fujifilm be direct opponents in the industry, as Nikon was up against Canon and Fujifilm pushing aside Pentax apsc and Medium Format until Pentax drops a full frame medium format camera as opposed to Fujifilms crop medium format. Nice improvement to the video quality, and I didn't know what to expect since I knew the GH^ was looming, and its a good choice. Except for all the illuminati symbols all over Panasonic cameras with the "Lumix" probably standing for illumination or satan the light barer. With the G's plastered on the lenses and cameras with the G'H6 and the pricey stone cutters having a big G hanging from their ceilings in their lodges. Sony has it too with its G Master, and who is G and what is he the master of - its of course refering to satan.
12:00 Yep -- the Panasonic IBIS is a great combo of smoothing the background movement (which is the only stabilization that the action cameras provide) and smoothing out the subject movement (often what the FF cameras only provide) -- there is still movement of both, but it is not jerky/jarring -- it is acceptable....
yaa man. you a funny.. am watching your video since month and am really confused i should go with fuji or what else ... please anyone help me wtih comments ,,
Ok - so what was the problem with the Viltrox 13 1.4? AF looked like it was working well in your videos. It has great background separation and color rendition looked good to me...? Personally, I'd avoid Flog for an internal vlog recording. Just use Eterna. No grading needed.
I'd be very interested in seeing the laowa 10mm f2 vs leica 9mm f1.7. The Laowa has low distortion with a strong vignette with profile correction. The Leica has high distortion with profile correction with low vignette. Would be great to see the "look" of the lenses while vlogging.
@@herrreinsch Yeah not gonna disagree there, main reason I bought a Samsung NX1 back in the day was because of the crazy colours the camera output because of its thicker CAF (Colour Array Filter) on the sensor. Panasonic are only manufacture today that has a thicker CAF on the sensors than any other manufacturer, Sony and Nikon are using really thin CAF because thinner CAF = worse colour accuracy and depth but better ISO performance.
Has Panny boy improved its colours or is it your awesome grading skills? Overall the quality - audio, video and stabilisation were amazing with this thing.
the POP is real 6:15, AF is just fine, codecs and video modes to die for, audio clean as a whistle, no warpy corners like on Snoy..... Just show me how the 50-200 does, that's the one I'm interested in. If it has the POP at that focal range....man.

Man, the colours, DR and stabe were super impressive. Props to the GH6. Looks like a solid purchase so far
So pleased the Gh6 is looking good : hopefully you have a colour science video in the works: using cinelike d on Gh5 & even natural picture profile created radioactive reds that I couldn’t tame in post & I hope that’s sorted now also the dr boost will be interesting
Looking forward to upcoming great vids
Looking good! I think you made the right choice. Would still be interesting for you to try and borrow/rent an X-H2 just to get a robust and fair comparison though.
Surprised how well the autofocus did. It felt more "cinematic" in the studio because the transitions were smooth instead of what we're used to with Sony that kind of move by steps, making the background kind of flutter - even if there's no hunting.
Everything else looked good! And that's still a lot of details for 300 fps. Reasonable softness, no obvious aliasing. Nice!
I love this. Fully unleashed Kasey, not worried about subpar IBIS with inferior camera technology!
Peace.
@@chasingvenusfilmarts no I know ahah, the xt3 is lovely. I'm just being dramatic. I love everything about it except it's battery life
There's an X-H1 on ebay for very cheap right now.
Holy cow! Loved the Pana footage! Nice colors, dynamic range and enough toneh. 👍
the gh6 outside footage solved my digestion issues. What a miracle
Also, "WELCOME BACK BROTHER" to the micro 4/3 amazingness!
I think the Fuji has the best color science IF it got the white balance correct, which in challenging situations like artificial light or in the greens wasn't the case often enough.
Panny magic. Gh6 autofocus seemed to be doing very well.
Bring on the Pana-Leica telephoto comparison!
the moment we've all been waiting for... welcome back to the micro4loser family kasey
I like GH6 now.
first! lol.... Happy for you that you're dream has materialised regarding panasonic gh6 setup. thanks for making the cinema ours!
These colours are great. That 300fps is surprisingly clean. Good choices were made.
Looks like the PannyBoi GH6 is perfect for you. Colors are SWEET! Autofocus is fixed! Now all I need to see is the "Angry Dad Walking" IBIS test!
Yay, I'm glad you gave the GH6 a shot! I was always hoping you would. I secretly root for Panasonic despite everything!
Honestly the colours are gorgeous, there's something about Panasonic... It's just has more characters than everybody else for some reason
What's 1080p like, how long does the battery life last in HD.
@@markshirley01 1080p on the GH6 is high quality, surprisingly much better than my S1H, XT4 and others. 1080p battery life is about 90 to 110 mins at 24p.
Outdoor scenes look very good on your GH6. I can't wait to see some slow-motion birds.
Always knew you'd go with the GH6.
I shoot wedding and have been using an XT4 with two panasonic g85s as "backups"
But time and time again, If the lighting is good (old cam, bad ISO) and I correct for the reds in post.
Then other times, the Fuji looks wonderful and and the g85s are dog dooty... so its probably just me
Welcome back 🙂
The dynamic range is so nice, the gh5 and 6 just have the nicest picture, I’m jealous. Compare to a7s
Welcome back. GH6 is a beast !
6:09 - almost in tears - joy and laughter
I've got the Pany 9mm... it's better than you think it is! 🙂 Found it on Amazon by chance. The right place at the right time. This lens joins the ranks of the 75mm f/1.8 in terms of giving FF a run for its money (I could also add a whole host of other lenses to that list too, but those two are standouts).
first time i see cinema in you little German vlogger , fisrt time ohhhh what a glorious day for cinema
Hope to see your wildlife video soon with the GH6
I really like the picture that comes out the gh6. Colors nice too. You did nothing wrong
1 in 10 of my interviews has had autofocus mishap.
the slow motion running test is the funniest thing on the internet
In all seriousness the GH6 is the best picture I've seen on any of your videos
AF lost you at 14:45. But uh... did it anywhere else? Also that tap-and-lock segment was so touching lol. CC nostalgia.
Why do I now prefer the Panasonic GH6 over the Fuji? The vlog looks great! What happened?
Wow it actually looks way better.
damn, Panasonic!
@@silbay it’s presentations from a doctor…
The colours are much improved. No more magenta colour skin.
I have an A7SIII and a GH6 and I love them both. Especially when I pick up the rigged out GH6 and it's 1/2 the weight.
Micro Four Loser is King now! Welcome back.
There was still some hissing audio when walking around
It's called wind.
I did consider the GH6 with the 10-25mm F1.7 - It just didn't feel like a sensible purchase when I know I film in dark event spaces.
Whats the song called at 6:10... i really like it :)
vegetablepolice.bandcamp.com/track/benevolent-beast
12:00 Yep -- the Panasonic IBIS is a great combo of smoothing the background movement (which is the only stabilization that the action cameras provide) and smoothing out the subject movement (often what the FF cameras only provide) -- there is still movement of both, but it is not jerky/jarring -- it is acceptable....
I'm a Nikon Fanboy 😁 I've Z30, i love it
yaa man. you a funny.. am watching your video since month and am really confused i should go with fuji or what else ... please anyone help me wtih comments ,,
Ok - so what was the problem with the Viltrox 13 1.4? AF looked like it was working well in your videos. It has great background separation and color rendition looked good to me...? Personally, I'd avoid Flog for an internal vlog recording. Just use Eterna. No grading needed.
I'd be very interested in seeing the laowa 10mm f2 vs leica 9mm f1.7. The Laowa has low distortion with a strong vignette with profile correction. The Leica has high distortion with profile correction with low vignette. Would be great to see the "look" of the lenses while vlogging.
Obviously you need to keep your eye out for the Panasonylympufuji AGH2S6III7EM-Mark85 and pounce on it when it is available!!!
Wow, I didn't see the focus lose you at all!
just 122k subs ... your videos are the best , bestest among all camera reviwer peers ... ignoring the power of smartphones ... also their smartness
The GH6 color science seems to be a lot better than previous models.
Its the same science which is in the S5
@@SMGJohn good to hear, nice. :)
@@SMGJohn I actually genuinely love that cameras nowdays really make more beautiful images instead of just more sharp ones.
for video of course. :P
@@herrreinsch
Yeah not gonna disagree there, main reason I bought a Samsung NX1 back in the day was because of the crazy colours the camera output because of its thicker CAF (Colour Array Filter) on the sensor.
Panasonic are only manufacture today that has a thicker CAF on the sensors than any other manufacturer, Sony and Nikon are using really thin CAF because thinner CAF = worse colour accuracy and depth but better ISO performance.
Please do some low light gh6 tests ma man!

Official Panasonic LUT.
I knew you'd cave in eventually. That 300fps and a properly working IBIS had to make you do it, eventually.
