What version of the Milwaukee impact gun is that? Tons of torque to get the 34mm axle nut off. Looks like maybe some penetrant sprayed on as well. How long did it sit to come off without a breaker bar?
Didn't really let it sit and soak, I just like to spray it down to lubricate as I'm pulling everything apart, I'm from Buffalo, NY so everything is rusted here, a little lube always helps here. And I use milwaulkee Fuel Brushless impacts now, but realistically it would have came off with just hand tools just fine.
If you live where there is any kind of rust clean the knuckle when the bearing goes in really good then put a little anti seize or fluid film in there. Same you the headache of beatin the thing off next time it’ll just fall out.
I am going to do all four bearings on my traverse tomorrow, fuck that., was going to pay $1000 for a mechanic to do the bearing and the firewall cat but seeing this video, I can change them my fucking self-he do the cat.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣fuck yeah!
If the bearing is bad most like the ABS is on because of it. So the shirt answer is yes...... but, there could just be a bad ABS wire. If the bearing isn't bad I would have a shop or someone with an ABS scan tool check to see if the sensor is working and the circuit is good
Not always but if the vehicle is pulling to one side then yes, realistically you should always have an alignment or have it checked after any front end work is performed.
For the average DIY at home mechanic with normal tools it definitely makes the job a lot easier with the axle removed and to do that you need to undo the strut.
Don't need to remove the strut bolts. I got the three bolts with 3/8 ratchet n shallow 13mm socket. Added a bigger deep well socket to fit over ratchet handle n 6" extension for extra leverage.
100% lie on doing damage to the wheelbearing tightening the axle nut with an impact.I do this and no damage done,the wheelbearing manufacturers are telling lies saying tightening the axle nut down with an impact does damage.It is 100% impossible to fully torque that axle nut down
I use a torque wrench because I've personally destroyed a bearing in just a few days by hammering it on with an impact gun, replaced it again with the impact and destroyed that one withing a week. I learned that day that I will never over tighten an axle nut again.

@@sweeperq they do, but you don't need them, they just save you time, the only specialty tool you really need is a torque wrench

Sorry didnt see this. Did you plug the ABS sensor back in? If so and it wasn't on before you may have a bad sensor on the new hub

On a customer vehicle I put them back in, on my personal vehicles I will always leave them out, the wheel will literally hold the rotor to the hub

No, the strut bolts go back into their holes in the strut and spindle and the holes aren't slotted for alignment adjustment.

You can definitely leave them in if you want to fight the axle and risk damaging the threads on the end of the shaft.
