I love that Hayden is getting the Andrew Garfield treatment and finally being welcomed by fans and enjoying himself.
It took seeing how truly bad a job could be done on a Star wars movie for all of us to say "Yeah, in comparison, he was pretty good"

I love how Hayden actually came back to Star Wars. It was such a disappointment how he only came back for a two second voice cameo in the Rise of Skywalker. This is where he belongs. I can’t wait to see even more of him in Ahsoka’s show.

Hayden should've made a comeback in Rise of Skywalker the same way Andrew Garfeild make a comeback in No Way Home. That would've been EPIC AF. But the whole Disney trilogy was pretty awful, so they would've made Hayden worse too if he had a big role.

Never realized people took issue with “I hate sand.” Anakin’s childhood and his explanation of sand made a great case against the stuff.
I've always seen it as the bad pick-up line of an awkward teenager and never thought much about it.
Yeah - I felt it was never properly brought or discussed, but I remember understanding the mention - he basically hates hits very home - mostly devoid of life, unsuitable for most of it, harsh, rough, _irritating and gets everywhere_ ahahaha - but in all seriousness, it makes sense, when you live on a hot, sandy planet while there are thousands of lush planets out there... It must suck
I never got the hate for it either. especially since I actually do hate sand myself lol when I was a kid and we went on vacations to Florida the beach was the worst because I didn't like the texture of the sand and the ocean just plain scared me

I've always seen the dialogue of "I don't like sand" the same way Hayden sees it. Glad about that. The criticism for that is completely ridiculous.
I think people hate on it so much because they look at it as if he was comparing padme to sand but I think it shows how Anakin suppose to be an awkward isolated young Jedi who doesn't know how to romanticize
I wouldn’t call the criticism ridiculous, it was a stilted, awkward scene, but yea it does make complete sense why Anakin would hate sand and how he would express his feelings about his past in such a way

No the dialogue Itself is bad, but the meaning behind it makes sense. George Lucas just writes bad dialogue
It completely makes sense that Anakin would dislike sand as a character. That doesn’t make the actual line he speaks any less silly. Had he just said, idk, “Sand reminds me of mom” or whatever while looking sad, that would have made the same point without being so goofy.
The memes are a reflection of the writing and delivery, not the concept of anakin being triggered by sand.

Exactly! people blame that scene for bad dialogue when it's really just his way of showing how much he hated that life, surrounded by sand because that's all he knew for the first ten years of his life and it brings back bad memories for him. It's amazing to see how well Hayden understands his character.

But also he's trying to distance himself from that association, because as a Jedi he has autonomy and status, and is more like her equal than when they met. On top of that he's desperately trying to be a man and not the 'boy' she talked about at the start of the movie when they first meet again.
They are both contrasting their childhoods with obligations and burdens they now face as Jedi and senator, and how their time together on Naboo is a moment of freedom they can reflect on the past and who they were and how far they've come.

For everyone that criticized the sand line: try living your life in a place where every now and then there is a sandstorm. It wouldn't be so nice would it? There is a huge difference between a beach and a desert. It was also a nice differentiation to Anakin and Padme's upbringing. Padme liked sand because of the beach and was free. Anakin hated it because of the desert and his slavery
This! And the awkwardness of trying to hit on the girl you like after spending half your life in a monastic order, where you were taught to suppress your feelings.
Additionally you have to take into context what Padme said to him before then. She’s detailing how great a life she lived with summers at the beach. Living a charmed life while the sand for him represents a cage and a prison. It just illustrates how different they’ve experienced the galaxy and how little Anakin has gotten to know of the gold in it but all that good that he missed is represented in Padme.

But as I see it, Anakin is written to be arrogant in AOTC, so it makes sense that he expects Padme to feel the same, or do as he wants, hence the awkwardness.
Yea the line gets memed on because it’s a little awkward, but if you stop to consider what George was going for with it you can see where Anakin is coming from

Aww. Hayden seems so much more relaxed than when he was young and going through the whole prequel experience. I know it was difficult for him, all that pressure. I'm glad he can sit back and enjoy it for what it is. And kudos to McGregor for always supporting him and pushing for his return. Hayden went through a lot of bashing way back when, and I'm sure that wasn't easy. But McGregor has always supported him and talked about the positive experience of their working together.
He's always been loyal to Hayden. McGregor's career took off, and Christensen's stalled. But he pushed for Hayden to come back. He seems like a good dude.
And he always says something nice about Ahmed Best. He was haters victim too.
What I love about these two, talking about the Star Wars universe, is that they can actually name planets, places, characters ect. You know that they are actually passionate about it. Like, when watching some of the Marvel interviews where some of the actors can hardly name some of the other heroes in their own movie.. It just gives such a perspective!

It was a great breath of fresh air to see people who love Star Wars work on series like these because they understand the world and vision that George Lucas had. The fight scene between these two guys is still the stuff of legends. I never tire of watching that fight scene. These two guys were perfectly casted.
As a huge Hayden fan for over 20 years now, it's great to see him making a big comeback. I've always believed he was a great actor. Even outside of Star Wars, his performances in Life As A House, Shattered Glass, Awake, Vanishing On 7th St, American Heist, Takers and Higher Ground TV Series have always blown me away. He has always had a old hollywood vibe and aura to him as an actor. His charisma and magnetism is just different from a lot of other great actors of today. He's always reminded me of James Dean, Marlon Brando and Michael Landon on screen among other old school stars too

It's amazing how many celebrities have been getting a resurgence in popularity recently. Andrew Garfield, Johnny Depp, now Hayden. It makes me happy to see these dudes get their well deserved spotlight again.
The prequels were actually really awesome. I can’t understand why people hated them so much. Palpatine’s slow rise to power was awesome to watch. In addition to Ani’s story, Jango Fett and of course the clone war. What a great story. I wish Disney took the time to lay out an adequate trilogy. They had so much to build on.
I loved the prequels. Just liked the originals, they're a time capsule of a great moment in time for movies in general. I always love watching them, the atmosphere was amazing.

I completely agree with you! my biggest qualm was all the cgi/green screen work, which really only testifies more to the skill of the actors being able to make it enjoyable. They really didn't have a lot to work with but did an incredible job!

So happy to see Hayden and Ewan back in Star Wars. I was 17 when RotS came out; it was and still is my favorite Star Wars film because of these two! I also had a huge crush on Hayden as Anakin, and to see him reprise the role as Darth Vader just warms my heart :)

Hayden really is a good actor, his performance just suffered from lack of direction and bad dialogue. He really redeemed himself in the Obi-Wan show. I'm just so happy he's getting love from the fans that he deserves (and I REALLY hope he comes back in the Ahsoka show)

Great interview, great interviewer, loved the questions, the atmosphere. Wish the interview were longer. Seeing them listen to each other and bounce off each other is really fun. When Obi-Wan is talking about the lightsaber training and getting fit for it you can see some looks on Hayden's face that there are more stories there for sure. Thanks for the upload!

Hayden Christianson has all of the makings and the energy of a sage and experienced a warrior/teacher. I think the person Hayden himself, comes off as someone who would never have gone to the Darkside. I feel like if Hayden Christianson the man was a Jedi, he’d be one of the most perfect Jedi. I think Ewan McGregor gives more of a “grey Jedi“ vibe. But definitely very sassy like Obi-Wan.

I think it adds to the tragedy of the characters when you see the actors as such good friends. They really are like who Anakin and Obi Wan would be if Anakin never turned evil. This is what they'd be like. Cool seeing Hayden back, I feel he got a real raw deal back when the prequels came out. Great to see him back.
