    Awesome hack thank you so much, I recently put a complete Moser 9 inch with wilwood disc brakes in my 87’. This will save me some money because I was just about to order a new wilwood master cylinder.

    I didn’t know about this when I bought a 1le prop valve when I went to ls1 front/LT1 rear disc on my 9 in.

    Had to do this when I swapped my rearend out on my 91 because it was a factory drum break car now it's drilled and slotted disc all the way around

    This is happening even with my 92 rear drums. Going to try spring upgrade.

      It works make sure you adjust the rears first but no more nose dives

    I’ve been looking at videos for the last 2 1/2 hours, hoping to see somebody pull that shaft out like you did to see which way the seal was facing. But when you pulled the shaft out, the seal wasn’t on the shaft. I had my seal come off and I don’t know which way it’s got a point, the bigger diameter facing out or in.

    hi
    If your master cyl is originally drum there is very likely to be check valve under the m/cyl port . This has to be removed .
    2/ If u go to rear disc , change out booster and the pedal is very soft /light to operate change out master size FROM 1 inch TO... 1 1/8 m/cyl pedal goes a little harder but more effort is needed .

      @milbrooke 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have read many posts about rear disc mods and changing PV spring, but nothing about this check valve. Are you saying with stock master cyrlinder, I would HAVE to remove the check valve under the m/cyl port? FYI, I have a 91 RS.

    • @paulthompson1654
      @paulthompson1654 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Located under the master cylinder pipe connection brass seat is typically a spring loaded check valve . A disc brake hydraulic circuit does not have these .
      ** Also some GM cars have a check valve located under body .Remove.
      A proportioning valve and disc/disc master cyl is all thats required .
      Do not forget the booster size will be different for disc /disc

      @@paulthompson1654 Thank you. Not seeing a check valve or anything beneath the master cylinder for that matter. I have a picture of the underside of mine (where you can also see the prop valve). but I’m not sure how to attach a picture on a comment reply in TH-cam. Do you mind if I send it to you?

    I'm going to try this on my disc rear GTA. It's so weak, the rear wheels turn with the brakes on.

  • @docshotrodnhobbies9019

    Dude..I'd be putting some sort of heat shield on that proportioning valve that close to that header😳

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Originally I was going too. I even stated that in a video when we installed the manifolds. But believe it or not it doesn’t even get hot so I haven’t bothered with it.

    Long shot question here. I've got the old cast iron valve on my 84', If I was to find the right size spring at the right pressure would that likely work? I get that there is a size difference between the aluminum and the cast iron springs but I am under the assumption they at least work similar enough for a stiffer spring to make a difference.

    • @justincrocker6098
      @justincrocker6098 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, I'm now less sure. The cast iron one doesn't disassemble such that the valve comes out.

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justincrocker6098 Yea brother you’d probably be better off just finding a newer master cylinder in a junkyard and converting over. Hell you may even find one that’s already set up for rear disk.

  • @timhammond5706
    @timhammond5706 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How confident are you in the era of aluminum vs cast? I have a low mile bone stock Z with an aluminum one. Id like to try the mod.

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These springs don’t work in the cast iron ones. Totally different animal.

    • @timhammond5706
      @timhammond5706 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BadLuckGarage I understand that. Mine is machined aluminum but in the timeframe you stated would be cast. What is your confidence on the MY’s you mentioned or is it limited to machined aluminum? Sounds like I should be good to go. Thanks in advance.

    So if you convert to rear disc and do this mod you can use the stock 3rd gen master cylinder that came on a rear drum brake car? Thanks
