Warhead 007 - The James Bond Film That Never Was

- One of the most fascinating chapters in the James Bond cinematic saga is the story of Warhead, a 007 film that almost was, then wasn't, then kinda was, then almost was again a couple times, then never was. Developed in the 1970s by Kevin McClory, Len Deighton, and the O.G. Bond Sean Connery, Warhead was meant to be a grittier take on the Bond franchise, with some truly crazy elements thrown in for good measure. It became a casualty of war between conflicting creative forces, leaving us to wonder what could have been and just how and why this movie went unmade. It eventually “kinda” got made as Never Say Never Again in 1983, but what was made was very different from what was intended: perhaps thankfully.

Timothy Dalton was an awesome Bond. It's a crime he only appeared twice
Well, "you only appear twice", as they say
Touché
At the time, Dalton was really disliked by many Bond fans. Even myself when I saw LICSCENCE TO KILL, which I think is one of the five best Bond films ever, I felt he just did not seem right for the role. He had a certain for me effeminite quality, but this is also what made LISCENCE TO KILL so interesting, as the lead villain seemed to fall in love with JAMES BOND, and made it more believeable. LIVING DAYLIGHT for me was great in the first half, and bad in the second. The first half reminded me of the best of Sean Connery Bond, the second the worst of Roger Moore Bond.
Love all the 'James Bond' Content on this channel ❤🎞
Yeah our guy Bumbray is a
HUGE fan
At one point they wanted to make a SECOND Thunderball remake. I think it was gonna be called “Warhead 2000” they considered casting as Bond either Timothy Dalton, a former Bond, or Liam Neeson, who was also at one point considered for Bond by EON.
Always thought of ‘The Rock’ as an unfortunately James Bond film.
The rock is definitely unofficial sequel. I’m gonna go back and watch that film tonight. The memories.
Nice and informative. I wonder if we will ever get to the bottom of Danny Boyle’s vision for No Time To Die. From what I’ve heard, his ideas would wild and strangely relevant… also he never would have killed off Bond.
I would love us to do an ep on it but too little info out there
"MOONRAKER" still holds as my #1 James Bond film!
My top 5 are Casino Royale, Goldfinger, Skyfall, GoldenEye, Licence to Kill.
It sure is fun
The book was way better.
Mine too ❤🎞
Moonraker
Goldfinger
GoldenEye
Casino Royale
Licence To Kill
are my top 5
I'd love to hear more about un-made Bond movies by Tarantino and Speilberg/Lucas, they could have been interesting.
the script was online until it was taken down. I wanted to read both Warhead, and James Bond of the Secret service scripts.
You can still find it. Someone posted a link to it on Reddit.
Talk about the unmade Steven Soderbergh 3D Cleopatra movie that was announced in 2008 and never got made
This video is 11 hours old but the first 58 seconds, I swear I saw like a year ago! 😵💫
Next do “Per Fine ounce” Geoffrey Jenkins Bond script. Please & Thank you.
Awesome video
Bro had one good idea and tried to make it 500 times
Luciana Paluzzi is an ultra cool Italian actress.
no mention of EON "Killing" Blofeld in For Your Eyes only?
I really hated that
Poor daniel Craig bond he was died in no time to die but there is still hope for him to comeback as james bond
A few adjustments i see no reason why this wouldn't work today
I thought I'd manage 13 minutes but gave up after 6
I’m happy it didn’t get made cause it would have strayed too far from the bond formula!
I knew that Spider-Man, in some way was involved in James Bond.
Nuclear bombs to destroy. Sounds similar to Lex Luther's plan in Superman The Movie
The scripts pre date Superman the movie!
That's Cold War cinema for you...
Back when pop culture reflected people's fears of the outbreak of nuclear war any day.
(Sucks that James Bond didn't get to punch Nikita Kruschev or Fidel Castro right in the face, like Captain America did to Hitler in his first issue cover.)
Some of the events of No Time to Die approach the stupidity of the Warhead script.
controversial opinion: I think "Never Say Never Again" is a better movie than "Thunderball"
It is.
No! Thunderball is loads of fun. Connery in his prime.
@@KamillGran-ch5sb Connery is definitely great in it, but that movie is a slog to sit through. The only other good part aside from Connery is the character Fiona Volpe.
Absolutely. Never Say Never Again is way better.
Dude that’s insane
Orson Welled died on October 10th 1985...not in 1986...fact check your script!
