@@cowboy41231 I'm not really concerned who makes what as long as it provides the info I need. Topdon is another one that runs pretty much the same software as Thinktool, Thinkcar, and Launch.
The reason I'm thinking of a Launch is after my experience with the Xtool D7, having only used it on the family cars which was not that many times, then when it was only 8 months old it started to shut down within a couple of minutes when connected to a car, "I have a video of it doing that and thought I would send it to Xtool" luckily it was within amazons year guarantee period, so I had a refund rather than a replacment having lost confidence in the tool. My research looking for best cost/capabilities/update cost/service life/customer service/operability, but keep finding more and more companies putting out Bi-Directional tools therefore more comparison reviews so gonna take some more time before making a purchase. X-Tool D8 has been running top on my list but released the D9 which supposedly dwarfs the D8 but 2x the price
Also seen the Innova 5610 is their new Bi-Directional tool ~$350 at Oriellys which I've had decent luck with Innova and if I read correctly they're made in USA.
I’m wondering if D8 was last XTOOL wired device? Does they have D9 wiring capability as well? Just imagine you are coding ECU and bluetooth connection get lost… does ecu becomes a brick? It’s from safety of your bank account perspective lol

Greetings from Hartford Connecticut! I am a new subscriber, I have a question: In your opinion why are there no youtube tool channels that like rate stuff that includes OTC/Bosch
That's a good question. I have a OTC encore and it's the latest scan tool I have. Fully updated. Would like to compare it to one of the current 1000 dollar units to see how much more they can do. Lots of hate on older OTC stuff on internet. Bosch not so much. I got the encore fully updated till end of 2023 on eBay for 400 bucks. Selling my current one that was updated till 2021. Cheaper than the update that's for sure.
The main ones I work on a lot time is ram Chevy Ford and Honda. Great video. Would you take time to do scanner Danner classes to better yourself in diag? We did 2 years of the Mitchell 1. I'd want bi directional. I'd say $500 to $3000.
That "v7.00.001" is NOT the Android version on the tool. That is the Launch software version. The Android version on that tool, according to Launch's website is Android 9.0. However, while I know this video is a year old, we are on Android 14 now, so both 9 AND 10 are still "old". When are these tools going to stay, at least somewhat, up to date on Android? I bought the Xtool BT dongle, and my own android tablet to use with it so that I was at least a little more modern on my OS. Though I would like a tool that was a little more powerful.
which ones are not made in china and don't require you to tell them which market your car is for or what model your car is or what transmission it has? looks like i'll be waiting for a while.
Thanks for the laugh. Now every time I turn on my xtool D8 I keeping laughing and saying Rev up your engines! 😂 guess I should be thanking Scotty too 😂
@@CPthetooladdict what do you mean it wasn't the tools fault? You do know that those trucks have the capability of bidirectional functions such as injector buzz test? Any generic scan tool can scan codes but not all of them can read ICP data. I agree the best customer support I found was Topdon on all there tools can't say enough which is important in the feild Autel is terrible went down hill as you know the more you$$$$$$ the more capable scan tool also I still have a old Autel MS 708 which for some older cars is great it has information the new scan tools don't have .
Absolutely. The customer support I received for TOPDON V2200Plus was top class. They really went off the cliff edge to help. And they are based in Hong Kong. 😀

Great video CP! Good info for me at least! I have the Launch X431 Pro Mini (wireless DLC/dongle connection) but it isn't perfect. I'm able to do some bidirectional stuff, but it ain't perfect unless you pay more. Haven't gotten into anything TOO advanced yet, but tryin to program a USED OEM Audi key for my A6. Too bad Launch's customer's support is mediocre at best from the China and operating off a "slow-ass-molasas" Andriod/LENOVO-"SARUS"... Those "Special Functions" for doin a IMMO for a key "are limited" says Hu from China. Support took 3+ days to reply, God help us....Can't even respond in a timely manner...and one sentence response at that. Sounds like lazy people to me. Too bad, Probably sell it someday soon. To name a few others in the family: 13' Camry, 08' Acura TL, 15' Mustang, and even a 17' Alfa Romeo Guila...sheesh. My Launch for $700-$800 does help for diagnosing, but lacks the features, but since they expired, might as well sell it. Key programin function ain't there unless you fork $100's. As of this postin, Launch's customer support is utter crap, response is mediocre, and I couldn't even get to talk to someone else cuz they prefer the run-around game. That's not what I call helpful support and they could be takin advantage of customers. Maybe just turn and burn quality service I guess. That's how I feel with Launch products at the moment, to be Frank, haha. Keeping my eyes peeled for 1 tool that can scan/program and won't drop the ball, if ya know what I mean. Keep up the good work brother! I'll be cruising through your videos, yeeha
Even android 10 is ancient at this point. I wont buy one of these tablet scanners until they can produce something that isn't almost half a decade behind on tech
@@CPthetooladdict I use a Bi-directional OBDII dongle that uses your phone/tablet via a much more modern app. Its also a fraction of the price of these old tablets and does the same stuff.

X-Tool D8 has been running top on my list but released the D9 which supposedly dwarfs the D8 but 2x the price
Also seen the Innova 5610 is their new Bi-Directional tool ~$350 at Oriellys which I've had decent luck with Innova and if I read correctly they're made in USA.
xTool D8BT is $620 after discount right now and wired is $560
I’m wondering if D8 was last XTOOL wired device? Does they have D9 wiring capability as well? Just imagine you are coding ECU and bluetooth connection get lost… does ecu becomes a brick? It’s from safety of your bank account perspective lol
Hey CP! Been watching your channel for a while now and appreciate all the honest reviews and opinions you have on different topics. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on scanners for medium duty diesel trucks. I’m at a dealer working with mostly Ford and Isuzu so just wondering if these scanners would still be a good option that you recommend. Thanks in advance!
Launch / Kingbolen make Excellent Scanners! I have some videos on my channel
Found the video! Sucks that the Bluetooth failed you on the XTool D8BT I really wanted to buy it. My just buy the corded one.
Ya im trying to update it to see if it fixes it.
@@CPthetooladdict cool thanks 🙏🏼 great video btw
xTool D8BT is $620 after discount right now and wired is $560
The main ones I work on a lot time is ram Chevy Ford and Honda.
I have newer ones I buy every year
CP could use all the scan tool info ya have... the only thing I have is a hyper tough code reader lol
which ones are not made in china and don't require you to tell them which market your car is for or what model your car is or what transmission it has? looks like i'll be waiting for a while.
Thanks bud... coding and programming at the best price sir...
CP the scan tool addict.
Did I miss something? I kept waiting for the comparisons and recommendations.
Multiple videos
I'm surprised you didn't pull out the 8track player
I will trust me lol
Hmmm,Topdon 800BT or Launch 919E ??????
Tough choice
Topdon looks Amazing! Hope to work with them some day 😊
Thanks for the laugh. Now every time I turn on my xtool D8 I keeping laughing and saying Rev up your engines! 😂 guess I should be thanking Scotty too 😂
Thanks again!
Reached out to XTool Marketing and they won’t answer my emails lol
I had to return the xtool Bluetooth because it couldn’t read a 99 Powerstroke
Lol, I'm sorry but that wasn't the tool's fault you barely even need a scanner for that dinosaur.
@@CPthetooladdict what do you mean it wasn't the tools fault? You do know that those trucks have the capability of bidirectional functions such as injector buzz test? Any generic scan tool can scan codes but not all of them can read ICP data.
Other than it not connecting to a 7.3, I had connected it to a 6.4 and I did like it as it was able to accomplish functions the snap on was able to as well.
Looking for something around 100 bucks
Duramax diesel scanner tool
These scan durmax light trucks not HD models
topd never said which one best
Love your channel great info on tools. I’m up in Canada we only have Mac here. Snap on guy changes every few months Mac been here 18 years. Could you do a review of heavy duty scan tools. Like texa, jaltest,Aurelio, launch. I work for a construction company so I work on everything from the bosses Land Rover to numerous brands of heavy trucks and equipment.
WheeeeeeeeeeeDaaawwwgy!
Thank you sir
$500-$1000 mostly GM
Get a laptop and a Mongoose
500$-1000$
👍
Even android 10 is ancient at this point. I wont buy one of these tablet scanners until they can produce something that isn't almost half a decade behind on tech
So how do you diag? Lol
@@CPthetooladdict I use a Bi-directional OBDII dongle that uses your phone/tablet via a much more modern app. Its also a fraction of the price of these old tablets and does the same stuff.
Android 10 is stable, well-understood, and likely enables quick programming changes because many computer people will be very experienced with it.
Nobody using a diag tool needs anything even remotely fancy. They just need good.
Rev Up your Engine’s 😂
Xtool D9 vs CRP 919
Never heard of a DP9
@@CPthetooladdict typo
Way too much talking guess I'll switch off now
This isn't a airport bud no need to announce your departure
Xtool Representative told me yesterday that Module Topology is coming soon to the D8 tool and no change in reg. Price as far as I know for less than 800 and Topology no other tool on the market touches that at the moment. If so let me know what you all found.
That would be awesome
It has arrived.
I'm sorry but this video has zero value, total waste of time. Npothing but opinions and the opinions were vague. Try showing them in real time doing a scan so people can see the differences.
This comment was of zero value. Please pay me for wasting my time reading it.
Actually he said total truth: there is no universal tool - some work better, some less on different makes and even models. Here is the true value!
Thank you for understanding my point
