2014 Chevrolet Silverado V6 my son drove the truck after the flash engine light was flashing for two days and then the truck shut off and he had it towed. I went and checked the truck out and ran a scan on the truck showed P305 and P 300. I found cylinder one and cylinder three coil packs bad so I changed all the plugs and the wires also they were fouled and very dirty and looked to be original. I checked to make sure that I was getting spark and I was. I tried to start the truck and it would just turn over with no start. I checked the mass airflow sensor and sprayed it out with mass airflow sensor cleaner. I also change the camshaft positioning sensor. Still no start. Any ideas

But technically your issue could have just been caused only by the coolant being caked on the inside of the distributor and the D-cap and roller could have still been good since you cleaned off all of the dried couldn't so technically you probably didn't even have to replace the roller and the distributor cap and probably just needed to clean all that dry coolant out. Excellent video. Thorough methodical and well explained. I would however like to raise one point for your viewers if I may. You noted that the distributor cap and rotor did not seem to be worn and you identified moisture inside the cap. Is it possible a new cap and rotor weren't necessary as the moisture could have caused vapor lock inside the distributor cap in which case one could spray wd40 inside the cap dry it out and likely that could have been the problem as well. Just food for thought. In any case Loved your video keep up the good work

They also have known issues with the intake manifold gaskets leaking - those distribuors are garbage, made out of plastic - I am currently going though this in my 4.3 vortec, aftermarket makes a replacement distributor made of aluminum I am gonna try that

That's a good job, and I enjoyed watching your methods. One question: Why didn't you try checking the distributor cap with a meter?

@smid2550 Thanks! checking the cap with a meter can be misleadingg sometimes because the reading can be affected by heat under the hood!

I watched up until you found no spark, the van we are looking at has spark, fuel and compression but while attempting to start it almost sounds like timing is off but checked timing and all is correct and to be sure changed plugs, module in distributor and still no start, just watched a vid where you turn key on and pull key out for few mins then insert key and turn off for maybe a min or so and the van started, I will try that tomorrow...cheers!
