    very good 👍🏽 well done and good to see a well built one again. One thing I had installed and changed in mine in the combined diesel heater. But that was a bad installation and a different unit. But what I learned is, that the inlet air should better not sit in the wheel arch, due the dust obviously, but then it has to be close to the heater exhaust, otherwise dusty air from dusty tracks will flow through the heater, due different air pressure between inlet and exhaust.
    You have those beautiful new pvc windows, might consider a self healing protection foil, before its too late 😁

    Hi Guys, I think I've watched this vid 3 or 4 times now and can't wait for your "2-year anniversary / lived in review" that you've mentioned you'd like to do. Noting you've had a bit going on recently, so we are happy to wait (sorry to hear about Kozmo😥). But when you're up for it I'm sure there would be a lot of people that would be interested. So before then can I ask....is there anything you had fitted from AAV that you don't feel you've needed.....and on the other hand was there something (besides the seats 🤣😆🤣) that you feel you might have liked fitted from the outset. Thanks again for sharing your adventures. 👍👍 Regards Geoff Rey.

    • @FollowtheFuso
      @FollowtheFuso  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Geoff
      Two year living in the truck is fast approaching and we will 100% do a video. The good and the bad.
      No, there is nothing we had fitted that we have not used and nothing we wish we had fitted.
      I'm particularly happy I fitted my preferred batteries as the batteries AAV supply do not have Bluetooth monitoring which in my opinion is a must. Whilst the Victron gauge has been good, it can drift a little, so having direct access to the battery BMS is invaluable seeing we are heavy power users. There are also quite a few things we wished they did offer but don't and these will all be covered in the 2 year review and update video.

As a rough guide as everyone has their own special requirements, what come I looking at for your set up so far . Can you get one with a larger shower room as I need a bit more space lol . Cheers Martin.

    • @FollowtheFuso
      @FollowtheFuso  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Martin.. they start at around $230k.. Unfortunately everything inside is set as far as layout goes. You could get a custom module made by another company but AAV4X4 only offer one layout.
      We chose this as we didn't want to tow anything. It would restrict how we like to travel and was very evident being able to just pull up at a parking spot at the beach, climb in the back and have a cuppa.. we watched a few caravans drive around in circles looking for a parking spot with no luck..

    Hi guys, just came across your videos. My wife and I have enjoyed them, especially as we are considering a Global Explorer. I had went up to the factory mid-last year to have a look. I probably could annoy you with many questions but you have answered one already… and that is about the worth of the passenger suspension seat! From what I could see (and hear) the Fuso performs adequately and you can converse easily while on the road. Did you have the truck chipped and sound-deadening added? Cheers, Mark

    • @FollowtheFuso
      @FollowtheFuso  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Mark, we did have the sound deadening added and I believe it helps a bit. It is quiet enough in the cab to talk normally to each other.
      We did not have the vehicle "chipped" or tuned. I've never been a fan of aftermarket tunes etc from a long term reliability standpoint. The AAV tune may very well be safe, but you just never know exactly what parameters are being adjusted. These motors are known to melt intake manifolds if tuned "too hot". I like things under the hood to be standard. No questions can be asked if a warranty issue arises.
      Stay tuned for LOTS more content. We move into the truck permanently the end of May and will be travelling and filming it all.

    Hi, it's Martin here, I saw your trip to Gippsland Lakes....we live in Mallacoota. You should visit next time! ....Now that you have driven the vehicle for a while, how does it travel on corrugated roads? As that would be our main application & what is roughly the engine RPM at 100kms per hour.I am tossing up between the big 3...Isuzu, Hino & Fuso. Thanks for your video & enjoy your travel.

    • @FollowtheFuso
      @FollowtheFuso  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Martin
      The truck loves corrugations and sails over them easily. I think this is due to the combination of the weight and 37" tyres. Good suspension and seats helps as well.
      100km/h is around 2200 rpm...I'd need to check though, not something I pay much attention to.
      We love the Fuso for it's lighter weight, excellent fuel economy and 12V system. Greater payload is also handy. We've now done 35k km's and are averaging 17.25L/100km @5.8T towing our boat @1T approx.

  • @granthanan3241
    @granthanan3241 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the great walk around . You mentioned the Aircond in the module . As it’s a 240 v , will it run using your inverter ? If so how effective is it and how long given the 600 amp hrs of lithium?
    You mentioned you had a troopie , I assume that went anywhere , have you been anywhere in the GX that could go that you wished you still had the troopie?
    Towing a boat how have you found the power of the Fuso and have you had it remapped.
    We are very close to signing just worried about the height on tracks and trying to decide , do we go Fuso or Isuzu , and do we get the aircond, so very keen to hear your opinions.Cheers G .

    • @FollowtheFuso
      @FollowtheFuso  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Grant.. yes, the aircon runs through the inverter. At 16°C on night mode, it uses approximately 40-50A/h.. so we can comfortably run it overnight provided we have a way of putting that power in the next day!. We usually run it for an hour or so during the evening, then an hour or so before bed and then inevitably an hour or so during the night. I'm a hot sleeper and this works very well in tandem with our portable fans. The Fuso is more capable off-road in my opinion than the Troopy due to larger tyres and the chassis flex. The GX however is tall and feels awkward in off camber situations. It is fine, just feels uneasy especially when the module swings back. It's biggest limiting factor is height. But this is our house, not a "holiday home" so we tread very carefully.
      We feel the boat a little going up hills, but it's fine. Still faster the 1HZ Troopy and fuel is still reasonable at 17-18L/100km at 5.7T plus boat. No it's not mapped. I don't like generic remapping, if anything, in the future I'll get it remapped on a dyno for my vehicle after the 5yr warranty has expired.
      We love the Fuso over the Isuzu for it's increased payload, 12V, better fuel economy and lighter tare weight. If going with a Global Xplorer, for me it would be no question Fuso. The rear module sits very high on the Isuzu for some reason. Take a look at the side on photos. I'm not sure I'd be able to climb on the module roof with the Isuzu whereas the Fuso is fine. I think the Isuzu chassis sits higher in relation to the cab making the module sit higher as well.. it also just looks weird in my opinion. But looks are a personal thing.
      Good luck with with your decision, we wouldn't be without aircon...it's been amazing up north with the humidity.
      Be sure to subscribe for a 12 month review in a few months time!

      @@FollowtheFuso awesome info.
      I didn’t realise you could get so many hours of aircon performance thanks.
      Yeah understand your reasons for the Fuso .
      Originally we liked the Fuso for what you mentioned but we are wanting more KWS as we will be towing at times a side by side and tinnie, in sand dune country and off track travels , we feel we need a lot more fuel carry capacity and water , and the Isuzu has that , the negative is the extra height which is worrying us given the terrain and bush we push through.
      Anyway still a lot more thinking and questions , it’s going to come down to compromise .
      Thanks again and look forward to your 12 mth review . Cheers G

    • @FollowtheFuso

      Yep, there is no perfect vehicle unfortunately. Whenever we make a large purchase like this or boat or house etc, we have some "non negotiables".. these are things we have to have. Then there are the "slightly negotiables" and the "negotiables".. this usually helps us narrow down our choices.
      Good luck

    Can I suggest that you invest in a special mat to go under your mattress so you don’t get mould. I see a lot of mobile dwellers who have mould issues without it. I’ll see if I can find a link to share so you know what it is.

    • @FollowtheFuso
      @FollowtheFuso  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bec
      I assume you are talking about the Froli system or similar. The mould comes from dampness or humidity in the air settling under the mattress. These trucks with their diesel cookers suck all the humidity out the air. Other owners have had no issues with under mattress mould. A nice byproduct of the way the diesel cooker works.
      Cheers

    Great setup..Im looking at one of these myself. where do you do your food prep? Whats the fuel economy like? And what is the height please? Cheers😀

    • @FollowtheFuso
      @FollowtheFuso  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Food prep is usually done on the lid of the sink, fuel economy without the boat and at 5.7T is around 15-16L/100km, with our boat on the back (approx 1.3T), we average 17-18L/100km. Very happy with the fuel. Our Troopy was around 18L/100km at 3T!!.
      Height is approx 3.4m with aircon unit. I just use 3.5m for bridges, clearance signs etc.

    • @FollowtheFuso
      @FollowtheFuso  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No.. it is incredibly dust proof. We've been quite impressed by that actually. A few other owners have commented the same after owning vans or slide-ons that sucked in a lot of dust.

    • @FollowtheFuso

      It will be fine on the flats.. the hills is where it struggles. We are at 7T all up and hills are slow.. which is fine

    • @FollowtheFuso
      @FollowtheFuso  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've just realised you may not know we tow a boat too.
      It's only a 1298 gross trailer so only probably around 1000-1100kg and it's fine.. I can feel a slight difference in acceleration and braking, but no problems here.

    • @Jaanimal
      @Jaanimal 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, very useful info here thanks. When you say hills are slow is that cruising up slight slopes in 5th gear or more like steep grades in 2nd etc. I am going to be towing a 2.2T boat and trying to decide between the fuso isuzu. I like the Fuso more for everything except they say at aav get the isuzu for towing. But wondering if thats more like 3T and over. I think Ill be roughly 7.7T fully loaded 3 people with boat. Hard decision because like you say the Isuzu looks weird being so high. @@FollowtheFuso

    • @FollowtheFuso
      @FollowtheFuso  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Peter. The heater is AMAZING!! We run it for about 15-20mins on it's warmest setting and then have to turn it down as it gets too warm! They're designed to heat large caravans so works very well in such a small space!. Yes, the hot water is great and a good constant temperature. Pressure is just ok, but conserves water, so we're ok with it. If we had more water capacity (300L currently) we'd think about a larger pump to get more pressure. But it does the job.
