Hi Mr Podium. Great humour mate and congrats on the sub 1 hour AdZ. Couple of things you might be interested in: 1) The graph at the bottom is really important. The colours represent your power zones (relative to your FTP). When it's yellow, you're in FTP range, when it's red, then you are over FTP. You want to try and keep as much grey/blue/green as possible (which means you are resting) and only as much red as you need to hang with the front group. 2) Stay off the front. Let other people pull. Do stay in the top 10 in this C group because you want to monitor the splits and make sure you make the front selection. 3) I noticed you had a 'sticky draft' while trying to get back onto that front group. That's when you get stuck behind a rider that is gapping off the back and you have to work extra hard to get around and then close the gap. Try not to get in this situation - at least be aware of it. 4) When you move to B (you will), you will no longer be able to close gaps that large with that limited time remaining. The boys will be gone. Stay tactically aware and claim your rightful position at the front (not on the front)! You're killing it. Well done.
Merry Christmas! Nice seeing you go sub 60 on the alpe, but I have to say that liked the trembling and the fall from your last alpe video better... ;) Great job ! Enjoy the holidays
The reason this is such a big accomplishment Mark, is your weight it’s not your age or how good of shape you’re in which is quite excellent! I’m a former professional racer and I’m 74, but I weigh quite a bit less than you I can do it in under an hour I’m extremely fit a cycle about 9000 miles a year on Zwift but it’s the weight mark it’s the weight that’s why it’s such an accomplishment. Congratulations.
I'm so glad that I stumbled across your channel! As a fellow "large" Zwifter (6'4, 220), I feel your pain and your videos are so relatable. I'm nowhere close to your level of fitness, but damnit if you don't motivate me to try harder! Keep it up!
Mark you have a gift for story telling - that was amazing. I was going to add a pick me up comment after a few mins, but by the end I’d turned to picturing Rocky being held aloft. What a vid. Absolutely superb. Also - the rocker footage this time looks way better - I had written it off after your first vid. It looks exactly like outside there (tries to think where the bike sways with the pedal down). Pretty sure you’ve nailed it 😄
Great video Mark. Impressive rides both w/kg well north of 3 for an hour and power enough to come from way back for 2nd. Looks like a huge upside on Zwift. Merry Christmas.
I don't want to get all sports sciency, but I have crushed the $&i! Out of this... Almost the same as me... just not as quick... Great phrases Mark and congrats. Really nice editing on these videos too. I think you'll start snowballing getting subscribers soon.
14:07 whoehaha. Same here with the family. Right now it’s my birthday and Christmas Day, and my Zwifting and TH-cam-ing your content. Sorry to all the family that are waiting... 😉
Great videos Mark. Good luck on the Alpe tomorrow. I believe if you avg just over 3.2 (say 325 watts) you should get it, especially with a push at the end. Check your avg for each of the 21 legs as you go - upper left corner of screen. If you overshoot by too much you'll pay a price later. Undershoot - pick it up a bit the next leg. Cheers!
Please could you give me a link on the boot warmers. I’ve got to get something for the wet weather. Brilliant stuff on under the hour and looked so much easier it must of been the pacing. Brilliant stuff.
Nice effort! A helpful tip is too even out your peddle stroke. You have an exceptionally uneven pedal stroke, as is evident by the great many spikes of red spikes you see on your Zwift display. The less jagged that display the more efficient peddling you are doing. Those micro-bursts are really taxing. Smooth out your peddle stroke to gain economy and to save more energy for when you need it.
Hi Mark, I fond your channel by accident and i'm loving it, great vids. I noticed that u have a wheel-on tacx trainer can u tell me if the power provided by that trainer is accurate compared to for example the kickr bike?
Congratulations Mark for getting up ADZ sub 60. That's my goal and I am close! Where can I find a copy of the segment cheat sheet that you looked at during the climb? I bet that has to be super helpful
Whilst I know that they are all being cancelled.... how do you find the events that you (& Nixon) go to? Is it a simple google search or is there a consolidated website that you use? Great content as always... good luck on the 120 subs!
I asked for the graph! I want to see how much real pain are you going through (assuming you put the correct ftp number when doing a workout or from a recent ftp test made in zwift). Basically, the colors are somewhat self-explanatory. Red is red, going above ftp. Yellow is ftp. Green is tempo. Blue is a walk in the park. :)
I thought the family were calling you Missed Da Podium, which seemed harsh. I'm going to substitute "I might as well" for "I'd better not" for at least the next 48hrs.
Yes Mark! Top effort. You are by far my favourite TH-cam channel at the moment, keep it up! and hopefully you'll hit that 5k 🤞

I love these videos. I also love the parenting tidbits, brilliant.
By far the most entertaining Zwifter so far. I hope I never become as crazy but it does give me a lot of motivation.
Can't laugh any harder than I do watching you, Nixon and the epic training sessions. I love all the motivational gems. Keep up the good work.
Did the Alpe du Zwift last night quite by accident, reached for the Rocky IV soundtrack. 👍🏼👍🏼

Not sure if I'm more impressed by the sub-60 AdZ, or being sub-twitchy. Nice work mate, and glad you got the balance board sorted.
Came across these by accident, quickly becoming my fav vids to tune into 👍
Epic work on the sub hour...... but what’s the “not 212” reference ?
Please could you give me a link on the boot warmers. I’ve got to get something for the wet weather. Brilliant stuff on under the hour and looked so much easier it must of been the pacing. Brilliant stuff.

Whilst I know that they are all being cancelled.... how do you find the events that you (& Nixon) go to? Is it a simple google search or is there a consolidated website that you use? Great content as always... good luck on the 120 subs!

I did it this afternoon.... 2.5 hours! :-(
Sitting here popping chocolate hazelnuts agreeing with all the good training advice, I’ll train tommorrow...
Nearly cat B now :)

Imagine how much faster he could've gone up it with better pacing
