Good afternoon Chuck, thanks for sharing another great video. One suggestion for the orange spike is that you could probably use some velcro to hold the mast tighter. Just a thought anyway.
Great video and tips, Chuck. I have the gold fishing rod holder. Like you said, it works, but the cutout for the reel isn't ideal. But I usually am just using that for a sloper and when I'm leaning the mast in a tree or between rocks and want a little bit more stability. I wrap a Bongo Tie over that part to help a little too. The nice thing is the weight and portability of that one. I'm always on the lookout for new and better solutions though.
Thanks. But everywhere I have put up my masts I have never been able to just push in a spike. A hammer is always needed. Thanks for the ideas. Steve, k7ofgh.
For your blue spike, 3D print an X shape that fits snugly inside of it and will fit piece of steel (rebar?) in the center to hammer directly into the spike.
Ah, I found the diameter and other measurements in the Amazon listing. Not in the text but in one of the images in the listing. Diameter is 1.38 inches (3.5cm). The longer spike is 7.48 inches. The shorter spike is 5.12 inches. The holder is 6.3 inches long.
That lawn looks well cared for.
I picked the best spot lol, gofers are tearing it up.

And a good thought Bob the velcro would help and it is really light weight.

Yea Mike it works and a lot of times I use an EFHW and it works great for that. The Bongo tie would also help!
Chuck! Thanks for sharing those spike and ideas. See you out there. 73 de Bill
Thanks Bill!
For my 10m mast I use a support that screws into the ground using a T-rod. Solid.

Nice, thnx Chuck. :)
Don't guy it, spike it!
Chuck .. what base diameter is the pole you use with your favourite Amazon mount? They seem to be around 35mm maximum diameter.
In a closely related question, what’s the diameter of the holder? The Amazon listing doesn’t say - I’ve asked the question there too

Will these work with the POTA 20?
I don't have one can you measure it?
@@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures I dont have one either. Bet Jason or Mike could measure it. Diameter not listed on Gigaparts. Thanks
@@dougdukes1039 I will ask around and see what I can find out.
@@dougdukes1039 Body Diameter - 1.25in that's off Giga Parts site on the pota 20 so it should work!
@@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures Thanks, guess I must have missed it.
