The Kymco X-Town 300i ABS which is available in the U.S. next to the Kymco AK 550 is an awesome machine. It is only 2 inches shorter than the 550, but if you are looking for something that can pretty much do everything including travel on the interstate system as a starter bike, then the X-town is fully awesome. Many times the scooter videos do a good job of highlighting great maxi scooters, but the vast majority of those scooters are not available inside the U.S. Certainly the next step up would be the AK 550, but for half its price, the X-town is a great and good looking scooter.
I miss my Silverwing. All the new scooters have lost a majority of their underseat storage trying to make them more like street bikes. I wish Honda would bring it back.

The price of the scooter questions if a 350 would be better for city and a second bike for longer trips better at the same cost.
Scooters in the city are very convenient. But I think for long trips, it would be better to use Touring Motor
