I lost my mojo...passions...so much. I will spare you all from the details. But I am working on finding new pathways. Eating more healthy. Getting ample sleep. Getting plenty of water. But still not active enough. 😕 I try to find ways to make required/more necessary everyday activities less painful and more enjoyable. One thing nice about an empty nest and retiring is that we can take our time and we don't have to be rushing through chores and trying to cram 15 to 20 things into a day. I have also finally reached the place that I can say no to going places with others. I try to practice having a attitude of gratitude. And changing negative self talk; "I have to ...," to "I am blessed to still be able to ..." Today, after sweeping the porch, I twirled in the rain that started, just as I finished sweeping. Like a 5 yr old. Then when a big thunder boom echoed, I quickly went back inside to behave myself. 😉
Dear Margaret, I recently lost my husband at a relatively young age and was feeling so down. I happened on your channel and immediately fell in love with your happy, jovial demeanour! I now tune you on and listen to you while I'm making the bed ,doing dishes,etc.... You've brought happiness back into my humble home...thank you so much. ❤️Edits note: I hope you realize what a delight you are .
Iv just lost my husband ( age 64 ) the only way I can manage is to just 'stay in the moment ' , ❤ and looking after my wellbeing , and yes finding my passion x
I lost my husband 18 and a half years ago when he was 44. I was 47. Now I am 66. I still really miss him. I am also grateful for this lady's inspiring clips. She has such a great attitude. ❤ Bon courage !
The best thing to help me with aging was to work 40 yrs with the above 50 population as an RN. I learned what not to do so I would not end up chronically ill like most of my patients were. In my 50’s I gradually made many changes in my life. I quit a 42 yr smoking habit, quit drinking soda, lost 85 lbs, started an anti inflammatory, non processed foods way of eating, and started doing yoga and power walking routinely. I do yoga at a studio at least 5 days a week where most of the members are in there 30’s and 40’s. I have also not had a TV now for over 10 yrs. I do not listen to the news. Most of my friends are 10-20 yrs younger than me. I read nonfiction, always looking to learn about life, all areas of health, and spirituality. In all areas, at 64, I feel healthier then when in my 30’s & 40’s. I have been told more then once that I do not look my age.
This video is so true!! This aging is a matter of one's positive mindset!! One needs to lift others up by smiling and letting them know that God loves them!!
Many years ago when I had panic attacks I read a book that said that when you smile you can't think negative thoughts. There were times when I would force myself to smile and it absolutely works, thanks for reminding me to do this again. Love you Margaret and I wish you health and happiness always.
I started following an anti-inflammatory diet earlier this year because I had some scalp psoriasis. Well, that’s all cleared up , my joints feel better , and I lost 25lbs without really trying! I think my skin looks better overall. I also began a yoga arm balance and inversion course which is quite challenging. I try and walk 4-5 miles every day too.
The key I believe is to remain open to experiencing new things... learning new things... keeping the body moving as much as possible... and engaging with those around us... cultivating friendships with people of all ages and walks of life ... and yes Margaret ... by SMILING and by bringing Laughter to our lives.... thanks for bringing this to our awareness... and I hope that you enjoy the rest of the week! 💚
I’ve been using coconut oil on my skin lately. I suddenly started getting eczema all over my face recently. This is helping. I also put a rather heavy amount of c. Oil on my face and eyes before a shower then do my usual cleansing to take it off. This really helps to get my eye makeup completely off. Then while my skin is still warm I put a light coating back on.
I agree no magic potions to stop the aging process but what we can do is to live , to the fullest, the truest, most fulfilled version of ourselves. You can’t worry about the wrinkles, instead let’s live our best life. My message to my “aging gracefully” friends, please keep in mind that getting old is a privilege not given to many. Let’s celebrate where we are in our lives, we certainly earned it. It’s true that just like fine wine, we get better with age😅. Besides , we have that “wisdom factor “ you know😉Together, let’s make our golden days the best days so that everyone will look forward to it. Cheers to aging gracefully and as Margaret said- SMILE , SMILE, SMILE 😊 ❤️😍
Hear hear! I just like looking healthy, rested, refreshed for the age I am, and a genuine smile goes a long way. Margaret definitely has a great smile and also an awesome taste in necklaces! 😀
I love your videos! I just turned 60 and have been having kind of a hard time adjusting to this new age. Your videos have inspired me to see this stage of life as a new beginning!
Sixty hit me so hard! I didn’t think it would but my BB warned me and she was right! It’s at least nice to know we aren’t the only ones feeling like that! The heart feltness is REAL
I feel the same... it's like honestly why is my skin, suddenly sunspots, things I never saw before suddenly are appearing so rapidly 59 into 60!! Truthfully just 3 years prior I didn't make mind not wearing makeup...now... I'm having a HARD time looking in the mirror.. seeing these changes, my eyes have always been my best feature they now have hollowness underneath. It's crazy how fast it hits you!
Thank you for sharing your ideas, I love to watch programs like yours. However, I just turned 80 and I don’t have grandchildren and children’s are not my thing, I just don’t like to have them around or take care of them. I exercise, walk, travel, shopping and eating out. I worked 46 years in Real Estate, and I love to watch programs on TH-cam. Thank you for sharing your ideas🌹
I have a tip for all of you who have grandchildren to play with.. I had a game i used to play with my daycare children: bowling with empty toilet paper rolls and a tennis ball. Yo put the five rolls on the floor in the same way the cones are in a bowling alley and then you roll the ball and try to knock them down. You can give one point for each and a higher point for getting them all down and you can stand or sitt at different distances from the rolls acording to age. It is a really fun game that you can do indoors on a rainy day. Have fun 💜
I appreciate this approach. Seems like all we hear about anymore is how to look 10 yr's. younger. We gotta look younger! Not sure all the emphasis to trying to look "younger" all the time is the way to go. How about more emphasis on looking (& feeling) the best we can for our age...
Another great video, thank you. You asked what 'we' do to say young. The very very best thing is to stop drinking alcohol and smoking + get out and be fit. Since I stopped drinking alcohol 3 years ago I have not only saved money but the best thing is that my skin has totally changed. The deep wrinkles are still there, but several friends that due to lockdown that I've not seen have asked if I've had a face lift! No kidding!
FABULOUS video topic, Margaret! I'm beginning to really get my dander up, every time I hear, "anti-aging". You'd think it was some horrific disease..🙄 All wonderful tips for us; no creams or "magic potions" here. Let's just enjoy our time, show love to our families and friends, and, try to make the world a better place. TFS; stay well. Rosemarie 💖
Aging is something none of us can escape. We shall all get there sooner or later. Best to smile, count your blessings and live in the moment for tomorrow is promised to no one. Nothing worse than a woman that is mutton trying to look like lamb. Live ,love, laugh!🤗❤️
Please smile as much as you can! At my daughter's wedding, my mother couldn't smile for the photos. We kept begging her to smile, but she didn't. She told her doctor about it and the doctor said that since she had been in pain for so long, the muscles in her face forgot how to smile. Please don't let that happen to you. I try to smile all the time even when I'm alone if I remember. If someone asks, "do I know you?" I say, "no, I smile at everyone!". But I don't smile in dangerous situations where I can become a target. Use common sense.
Keeping a gratitude journal helps me keep a positive attitude as does reciting affirmations in the morning to encourage me to keep the focus on all the good in my life.
Best hydrating lotion I've ever used is home made. 1 Tablespoon Aloe Vera Gel 1 teaspoon Vegetable glycerine 1 teaspoon Vitamin E oil Mix it together well and use on face and body. It is amazing and all natural.
Thank you for your perspective and videos. What do I do ? I try to get enough sleep. I do yoga to keep flexible and other exercises to keep my muscles supple and stengthened. I walk every day unless there's dangerous weather, like a storm or really icy. I eat a whole foods plant exclusive diet and I avoid ingesting oils. Rather, I eat the whole foods that contain healthy fats, like seeds, avocados, etc. I read nonfiction. For skincare, I do the oil cleansing method with coconut oil, among others. I use oils for my skin cream like: rosehip seed oil, argan oil, jojoba oil, etc. Family and friends are so important, especially since my dear husband/soulmate passed over 18 years ago. I am 66 now. I love spending time with children. ❤ Thanks again for your upbeat attitude !
This was a really sweet video. The ideas expressed are so genuine. Pursuing your passions definitely adds a dimension to your life that you probably didn't even realize existed.
One more trick: your posture! It is so easy to let your back and shoulders droop like you had a heavy load on you - you can really feel the difference, if you straighten yourself and "open" your chest. You are also able to breathe more deeply and easily then, which gives more oxygen to your body.
Some time ago i tried face yoga, i did that everyday for about 8 weeks, and it really made my face muscles tighter, but then i stopped doing it for a few months and my face has got saggy again! I will start it again, but it takes about 10 to 15 minutes and that is the issue!
I really liked what you said about the 2 minute walk, 4 minute walk, etc. I’ve had foot, ankle and leg injuries. I have a cane, walking sticks, etc. Thanks for the encouragement and a starting plan. Love your videos.
PTL Margret…I love your attitude toward getting more mature in natural numbers. We welcome the experience with opportunities unlimited appreciation of that time permits💯!
I had a wonderful lady who used to play tiddly winks with me as a child. We made up a game we called take-away. She would let me pull a dozen items from her cupboards and we would study them and then we would take turns taking away an item and guessing what went missing. We had many hours of fun.
Margaret I'm not sure what makeup you talked about being drying, but you may want to try a sample of Lancôme Rénergie Lift. It's very moisturizing and a little goes a long way. Love your insights and positivity :)
Hi Margaret. Thank you for another wonderful video. For me, walking, cycling and hobbies like knitting or needlepoint keep me busy. I saw a wonderful movie on Netflix last night. It called the Age of Adeline. Best wishes Margaret. ❤️❤️🌹
