  • This week on The Tess Files, we're back with Mac and Winsome discussing the good, the bad and the frustrating aspects of GAMSAT Section 2! In this video I confess my love for section 2, while the girls have a few different thoughts on the topic!

Thanks so much for stopping by and watching this video! I'm currently taking on a limited number of students for tutoring for section 1 & 2 for the March 2022 GAMSAT. If you're interested in working with me, feel free to visit www.thetessfiles.com/gamsattutoring and send me an enquiry ✨

    Hi Tess,
    Really good video!
Just wondering if you will be able to demonstrate and talk in depth if possible with some examples in next video how you practiced section 2?🤔

Hi Ash - the best advice I can give for section 2 is to practice writing essays within the time limit and keeping yourself as informed as possible about current affairs. I will try to make some more gamsat vids before the March sitting next year but this is all I have for now :)

    Hi Tess,
really like the structure you explained for the personal reflective piece.
Was your structure similar to this?
*personal memoir title that stands out*
Intro- linking memory to the theme, how many quotes did you integrate?
1st par- personal memory described very visually
    2nd par- analyse that memory
3rd par- emotional intelligence shown via reference to world affairs
    Conclusion-
thank you for the insight =)

Great video. But I’m wondering if you can pls confirm what you think you found ‘they (Acer) were looking for’, exactly. Cheers

Thanks so much! Oooh that's a tricky one to answer as we can't speak on behalf of Acer. In the information booklet published by Acer for the GAMSAT it says that they mark the essays based on, 'the quality of the thinking about a topic and the control of language demonstrated in its development' - I had always taken that to mean that you need to be succinct with how you demonstrate your idea, while using appropriate language and grammar to do so, however that's just my opinion and I'm sure there's many ways to look at it!

S2 is my fave too, it was my highest score in March although I'm sitting in September again so hoping I can improve again as my S3 score dragged me way down D:

How did you revise for s2? And can you tell me how they calculate s2? Like do they add both marks from the 2 essays and divide it by two?

Video really helped, thanks! What was the name of the podcast you mentioned at 8:02? :)

Hi Ali! The podcast I loved the most is The Guardian Long Reads, but I would also recommend Hack from triple J and The Daily from the New York Times for great perspectives on current affairs :)

Just wondering how many times did you have to sit the Gamsat for before getting the scores you were happy with?
