  • The second in Professor Jim Al-Khalili's three-part documentary about the basic building block of our universe, the atom. He shows how, in our quest to understand the tiny atom, we unravelled the mystery of how the universe was created. It's a story with dramatic twists and turns, taking in world-changing discoveries like radioactivity, the atom bomb and the big bang. All this forms part of an epic narrative in which the greatest brains of the 20th century competed to answer the biggest questions of all - why are we here and how were we made?

something went wrong when it was uploaded into youtube? That can't be the way the BBC would have put it up "IN REAL LIFE" .... As everyone has mentioned, there are parts that you can't hear him explaining important information .. e.g. its not when hes just ranting on about humans being "amazing"....

Man, my dad was a PhD in physics from Cambridge university and worked at Cal Tech in the 70’s finding quasars as a radio astronomer, and I’m just a lowly CPA. But at age 53, I’m becoming more and more convinced my true path should have been somehow in this incredible field. It’s a real passion of mine. I just got dumbed down by my mom the librarian considerably, so the math is just light years beyond my ability unfortunately. Stephen Hawking’s books started my journey down the rabbit hole about ten years ago and these vids are treasure for me, thank you!

I'm puzzled why Jim got this all wrong cos he clearly knows it....

FORMULATED WAX WILL SAVE MILLIONS OF ANIMAL AND HUMAN LIVES ……….
If we don’t fix our broken planet soon we will be leaving our children in a world where humans will be at the extinction level, including all living creatures on our Earth. because mankind since the beginning of the industrial revolution have been poisoning the air that we have been breathing for all these years. The many poisons are uncultivable and are accumulative within the body, such as the world-wade spread of the long half-life radiation escaping from Nuclear power plants, radioactive exposed waste material and leaking structures and buildings structures housing radioactive material. A natural cause of cancer and early death is from breathing into your lungs Radon Gas that kills over 21,000 every year, it seems that most humans are unaware of this because just like any radiation, you can’t see, smell, or hear, you only feel the results, which is a painful slow death. and it is here to stay unless mankind puts a stop for it NOW and not let our children have to deal with it in the future, but it is almost too late. The Carbon released into the atmosphere from industrial smokestacks has darkened our skies and settling on the ice and snow thereby absorbing the heat of the sun causing the melting resulting aiding the sea to rise. These problems can be solved only by the overlooked subject of formulated wax. Wax is one of the most overlooked subjects in the world for its use in solving most all mankind created pollution. This will be the only text written on this subject, Environmental scientists are trying to solve highly technical problems without success. They must look backwards to solve today and the future pollution using simple, noncomplex, basic non-technical, just elementary thinking. If we do not act now, the accumulated pollution will become irreversible by the time our children are grown up. When they are, they will force the arms of governments to implement these confirmed solutions. . Formulated wax has been demonstrated in Chernobyl showing how to prevent Plutonium dust particles from escaping into the environment through open seems in the shady steel constructed Sarcophagus of Chernobyl’s blown out reactor # 4 It was also demonstrate showing how to cocoon buried highly radioactive rusting steel to then be re-buried for long safe burial thereby preventing the rust from transmigration into the water table, and if not cocooned the rust particles will transmigrate through the ecosystem. Plutonium, PU 239 has a half-life of over 24,000 years and not going away in our lifetime or our grandchildren and for generations before them. So again, we must act now. Formulated wax has even been demonstrated showing how to remove crude oil or any type of fuel including gasoline from water, beach sand and rocks in a very short time. View, Wax For Oil Spills on TH-cam to see demo. The list goes on for formulated wax uses and its proven achievements. Formulated wax if used properly, will save millions of human and animal lives. Lastly, in 1958 I discovered and coined the word, WAXOGEN which can be used as a rocket fuel in the future

Praggy Pops obviously didn't read my comment very carefully. I complained about BACKGROUND NOISE, not about HEARING the video. Noise is a different problem than sound volume that is set too high or too low. In this instance, it's impossible to separate the BACKGROUND NOISE from the person's voice. In simple terms, Sound of Voice = GOOD; Background Noise = BAD. And no, I never listen to loud music, through ear buds or otherwise. My hearing is just fine.
