I have to say, I got the 5610u a month ago, and it was a mistake, because it’s so good, I haven’t really been wearing any of my other watches 😂
Currently wearing it on my right with the skx007 on my left wearing all my fancy duds sipping some .. Feeling like a millions bucks😁

Same here. I ordered mine last week, thought that it was the 3159 module, then the shop told me the original 5610 is no longer available, they would ship me the 5610u version. Then I googled and came to this video, and this is such a nice upgrade over the old one. Loving the new watch so far!
It's easier if you dual wield watches, that's my way at least, practical on the right, fancy on the left.
Don't really care if wearing two watches breaks some unwritten rule, it's fun

visible actual time while on stopwatch and timer mode is great update, ability to choose between mm.dd and dd.mm is another great thing. Casio is listetning to its fans and this is the best gift from Casio G-Shock. Great watches...

I had the previous version for 16 years, worn every day and 100% reliable until it started restarting itself every day recently. Just replaced it with the latest version, loving it esp the dd.m feature. Thanks for showing us how to use this great watch.
It's quite a letdown that this watch that has been the same at its core for 40 years, still doesnt allow you to set up alarms in a calendar. The watch knows what date and time it is, down to the second and it (now) has 5 alarms. But you can only turn them on or off and they will chime daily. I mean, come on.

I really like the small bar indicators on the bottom of the screen. Some other G-Shock models take up more space (like an 1/8 of the screen!) just to tell you battery status. On this model, the information is there, it’s easy to see, and it’s subtle and out of the way.
Also, I use countdown timers much more often than I use a stopwatch. So it’s a very nice feature to have because it can be a pain to have to do all that with a big, flat iPhone. One complaint I have is that the alarms only seem to beep for 10 seconds, then go off. The tone isn’t very loud. So if you don’t sleep lightly enough to wake up in the 10 seconds of beeping, you’re likely to oversleep.
In my opinion if Casio really wants to make this model the cat’s meow, they’d add the function to allow alarms to be set for certain days. I don’t have to wake up at the same time all 7 days a week, for example. So it’d be nice to have a way to preset alarms for specific days. If Casio updates the 5610 to include this, it might be the most useful watch on Earth.
Agreed. If you look at vintage Casio digital watches they actually have the alarms for different days of the week, would be cool to bring it back.

I'm in the same boat . . . Zlatoust, one Rolex, two Panerais . . . never felt good about wearing any of these when I need to do some physical activities. Never had the G-Shock on my radar until recently. Bought a 5000U and that one looks like it will outlast me.

As always amaizing reviews. I guess the auto repeat and the alarm to set day and monthly are a big loss, but having the actual time meanwhile the chrono is running and the dual time are very big improvements.
Thank you for this detailed review on the watch. When I purchased it, I was already having buyers remorse. I already have about 15 other Casio's and G Shocks, including the 5600, 5610 and 5600bb. The minute I held it in my hands, I knew it was special. The weight, the texture of the band is unlike any of my other Casio's. I can honestly say this will probably be my ONE and DONE over all my other watches. Kinda sad, but it is what it is. If you're contemplating getting this watch... Just do it! You won't regret it. Love mine!

Do you have an similar video for Casio G-Shock GW-3000B, module 5121. I bought it years ago, living in Far East. Now I am back in Europe and got totally lost to set it up again.... can't even make a hard reset, nothing on the net for this module and the user manual is of no ...use at all....

Thanks for the video, I just picked up a GW-M5610 from Best Buy Cda online on sale last night, $79+tax, delivered this afternoon and opened the package, to my surprise it was GW-M5610U!
I noticed the light on top right corner and was very surprised 😯 it was the 3495 module

Great tutorial thanks , on my watch I can't turn receive to ON and pressing GET doesn't do anything and long press will not start manual signal receiving!! Any idea why ?
Update: found it fast in the comments section, its the city time zone , if its out of reach the watch will automatically disable the receiving function, changed the city and now it works 😃
To be fair Casio are the kings of the wrist watches anyway in my opinion but this one is my favourite 👍
I had the original 5610 in the "half-blacked-out" version (1BER -- negative display with white and gray accents on the dial) but after hearing about the U versions here on WatchGeek last summer, I bought a new one with the default retro colour scheme last September. A double win, as I was able to swap the modules between the two cases in minutes, so now I have the grayscale looks with the much more legible positive display and improved module, and the wife got a "new" G-Shock for occasional use. And to my eye the goldish hue of the digits on the negative display actually look better with the dial colours of the basic model.
I have two gripes about the U module: although the longer duration of the backlight is a welcome improvement, the directional and spotty nature of the LED is a bit annoying, the other thing is that the U module - at least mine - synchs much slower than the old one (it takes about twice as long).
Anyway, both the old and the newer model/module is highly recommended, any one of the 5610 family is good addition to any watch collection. (I'd say a perfect one half of a 2-piece "collection").

Exactly.. My two piece would be what I'm currently wearing, skx007 on my left and this retro Gshock on my right. Been doing this every Friday for a couple months😁 -really like that Seiko uses blue for Saturday and red for Sunday on the day wheel❤

Same though here, I have the 5600-B1ER and can't read the time unless i bring the watch at the perfect angle or fire up the lighting. The inverted screen looks cool on internet but it is not.

Bought this today in addition to my 2004 Gshock which is still doing great, but I wanted digital display. Love it straight out of the box, perfect size and fit. And thanks to you I don't need to read the manual for the new module!

I need help: I set the wrong HT when setting up initially, bc the process is needlessly complex and not at all intuitive (I'm here watching a 20 min vid to relearn a watch that I have worn for years 🙁) and now get only the wrong time, except in world time and I don't want to always be in world time to see my actual local time. The synch worked great in KS (adjacent to the clock in CO) but again I have the wrong HT set. "Improved", my ass.
I got a GW5000U1JF with high hopes and am disgusted by how complex and not at all intuitive the menu is compared to the 5600e. I haven't worn it yet bc I have an "inferior" G square that actually shows the correct local time. If I go to a different time zone, I can easily reset the time. Yay, 5600. Very disappointed, 5000u. Plz help
EDIT: Very informative video, all 9f my issues were resolved by the end of this video. The big one: swapping a WT for HT. (13:10)

i tray it at 1am manual and its correct me the minutes and seconds but the hour stay always wrong did i have to change hours manually ?

If you don't mind asking me this: are you satisfied with the BGD5650? I'm undecided to get one myself, the functions are the same but I like the monochrome look much better. I'm also not sure about the size but I tend to think it still looks more masculine and not so ridiculous small like a F 91W for instance....
I have just bought a 5610u I live in London so that is my home town and have dst on auto I have receive on for multy band 6 which it dose receive but the hour is always an hour out.what am I doing wrong any idea's.

This is better daily wear then probably all other G shocks and I got multiple GG-B100s and GWG-2000….
If your looking into Gshock but think they're too big, try out this classic square.. it's a Gshock 'for the people' 😁❤️

Hello Watch Geek. Have a frustrating problem. I recently bought a G Shock 5000U after weeks of saving for it. My alarm and sig don't chime. The alarm bar and the sig bar blink but no sound. Am I doing something wrong or is something wrong with the watch? Can you give me any advice? Thanks!

Yes. I took it to a Casio specialist. He only examined it. Didn’t open it up due to warranty issues.”, but said I did everything right. The alarm bar blinks when the set hour comes, and the sig blinks on every hour. He said something is not making the chime beep, and advise me to send it back to Casio and demand a new watch.
Okay. The alarm and hourly chime work. I just had to put the watch right up to my ear to hear it. Even then it was very weak. About my only complaint I have with G Shocks. The chime feature is extremely weak. Almost useless. Thanks for your time. Enjoy your videos.
@@jamesbam100 Casio is insane. They put all that crap into a watch like solar, atomic, world time, switchable timezones and what not, yet they fail to deliver the easiest, most basic thing to make a freaking alarm as loud that anyone not crawling out of a womb just yet, can f ×××ing hear it 😮

when i had received my G , the display was missing parts of the digits. Is this because it has been in a dark place for a period of time and if so...will it properly function after exposure to sunlight

Very helpful. I did not know it takes a few minutes after catching L3 for the watch to get all the necessary data. This info does not seem to be part of the manual(s).

Anyone know the solution for the World time not working correctly? Seoul shows an hour ahead, had to set it to a different city to get the correct time for Seoul time. I tried turning on and off and also auto on DST but that didn't work. It would just be nice if it was adjusted correctly, or do I need to connect it to the radio and reset it that way?

As an experiment, I put my Casio Tough Solar watch in a sealed metal box that excludes all light, and left it there for 12 months. When I opened it, the battery charge indicator was still reading "full".
I guess you did this experiment with the function PS activated...is it ?

If you put a regular battery powered Casio with a claimed batt life of three years in a drawer, forget about it and find it accidentally ten years later, still running, THEN well talk business. (Based on a true story)

I have baby g.. BDG 5650.. It has same spec as this one.. except auto light (this is very usfull option in originl version do the small buttans) only cons in this and baby version are to small buttans..
I got the GWM-5610u about a year ago and it’s my favorite watch to date and I have a bad watch tan because I don’t take it off. I highly recommend this watch.
Love my new 5601/5610 but the world time settings are still confusing. This is the best detailed instructions I've seen!
