Stevie's "Sir Duke" and "I Wish" have great horns!!! He's the GOAT's GOAT!!! A number of his song lyrics were social commentary

Easy there big boy. He aint the goat(overused term of the century). He sure aint the real goat's goat.

The bass in 'I Wish' is killer too, any time you can sneak in harmonics from a bass is an instant favourite. Plus, Stevie is definitely the GOAT, among others of course.. just sayin', fuck Brittany.

Superstition then Higher Ground. Nice. Now it's Living For The City album version and I Wish. Then it's song after song after song.
He's a genius in the studio.

As always, loved your reaction! Stevie Wonder is sooo talented! Please consider reacting to "LIVING FOR THE CITY" Long version. It's a great Stevie Wonder song. A different "vibe!" You will love it!!!!! There are so so so many great early groups out there! I'll mention one... Moody Blues...songs to consider, "Question" "Your wildest dreams" "The voice" "I'm just a singer in a rock & roll band" "Nights in white Satin" "Ride my see-saw" "Tuesday afternoon" They have a ton more amazing songs, this is just to name a few. Thank you George & Patrick!!!

I recently read he had three consecutive albums get the Grammy Album Of The Year ('73, '74 and '76). In 1976 when Paul Simon accepted his 1975 Grammy Album Of The Year, he said he wanted to thank Stevie Wonder for not releasing an album that year!

"Sir Duke" will knock you sideways, and then "I Wish" and "A Brighter Star" will make you want to *stay* there. That's just for openers; Stevie Wonder is a very deep canyon of genius. Going all the way back 50 years, he's had hit after hit, and then proved his true gifts with "Innervisitions" and "Songs In the Key of Life", but had hits well into the 90's. May well still be writing, too. Performed at the Kennedy Center Honors, for the award to Berry Gordy, who discovered him. (Gordy was getting the award for founding Motown, among other things, and Motown records made stars out of a whole stable of exceptional artists of color- in fact, I think it's safe to say that "Motown" now means this one specific genre of R&B music.....but I digress....) He started making successful records as "Little Stevie Wonder", sining and playing harmonica. Yeah, he was already great when he was 11!!!

To Patrick and to George - George, to this Sadness that arose within you to Stevie's "Higher Ground" Lyrics, I think the Below Ruminations of the song's Genesis, and via Stevie's memory of the Song's Origination, the following will act upon you as a Tonic and as a Balm -
The song lyrics address the issue of reincarnation. Wonder commented, when interviewed by The New York Times:
I would like to believe in reincarnation. I would like to believe that there is another life. I think that sometimes your consciousness can happen on this earth a second time around. For me, I wrote "Higher Ground" even before the accident. But something must have been telling me that something was going to happen to make me aware of a lot of things and to get myself together. This is like my second chance for life, to do something or to do more, and to value the fact that I am alive.

Stevie Wonder is great, I know you've already reacted to Superstition, which is one of my favourites. This is really good too, what a fab beat and great melody, you certainly can't help moving when this is playing! Fantastic singer, I really love his songs. Thanks so much for reacting to this, guys, really enjoyed it.

Not sure what bro on the right side’s name is, but, dude, I am impressed how you broke this song down and your take on how the song goes out hopeful. Well said my man! Bravo! Both of you have a genuine love for music and that can’t be faked. Keep it up guys! Fun to watch!

@@jgsrhythm100 They are listening to the original studio version of this song. Stevie Wonder plays all the instruments according to the liner notes in front of me - yes, I did look it up! Namely, Hohner clavinet, drums, Moog bass, tambourine. Wikipedia adds, "The unique wah-wah clavinet sound in the song was achieved with a Mu-Tron III envelope filter pedal. The bass line is provided by a Moog synthesizer and using overdubs, Wonder played all instruments on the track, including drums and percussion." Look it up! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higher_Ground_(Stevie_Wonder_song)

@@79BlackRose Intersting. I am relying on on-line resources , and given there is so much live footage of Larry playing that bass line, and the acclaim of inventing slap bass it's hard to imagine not being him. I actually have the album in storage somewhere but no time to dig it up. I do know someone who would know for sure. Forgive my rudeness. Compared to the synthetic programed bass parts heard today, the Moog is no let down. Please don't tell me it was not Larry on " Thank You For Talking To Me Africa". Those bass lines are 🔥 and takes that groove higher!!
