-Don't put all of your guards on patrol or assign them all to a specific area. These "spare" guards they can perform duties like opening doors and let prisoners in. -Build more staff rooms.Your Staff gets tired and needs to rest in order to function properly. ;) -If you have bigger hallways (2 Squares wide) and entrances, your prisoners don't get stuck that much on their way to something. Saves a lot of time. Same for canteen etc. your prisoners will get stuck on each other if theres no space between benches and tables and not all will get fed properly. -CCTVs have to be connected FROM the monitor to the CCTV. It doesn't work the other way around. -The rubble (from the fire at the Capacitor) can be removed by the "clean indoor tool" unfortunately you have to dismantle some things on the same squares first (for later use when you put it back at it's place, this way it does not cost anything because you store those dismantled items) -you can place shower heads even if there is no wall attached to it. Saves some cash for walls and, even better, space. -If you place a TV in each cell you will have a great way of lowering the recreation need of your prisoners. Hope i could help a bit. =)
Lol at 17:52 a guard actually goes outside for the prisoner but instead of taking him inside he just takes away his spoon :D:D That guy had a rough couple of days.
This prison is such a joke. Seriously secure your front door and figure out how to use door servos and cctv. The overall design is breeding failure anyway I don't even know if it is fixable from an efficiency standpoint but you can at least make it secure so the deployment screen stops flashing yellow. That is basically the reason why you are getting the "Escort Prisoner to cell" bug. The guards think the prison is insecure and will not take the handcuffs off of the prisoners in fear of an escape. As soon as you secure the building (or maybe try lockdown red button) then things will start to go back to normal.
I am confused. Why is this the highlighted comment on this video? Where are all the other responses? What does any of this matter? I think I "shut up about it" 2 freaking years ago bro
TheD1ddler Henry Boss To be fair, this is a beautiful end to this thread. Assuming it stays dead this time, that is. Thumbs up to you both, and I'll hopefully never hear from you again :)
17:50 "Hey you, we're doing a shakedown we are searching you, *searches the Forgotten Joe* Okay bye" Joe: These are going to be the longest years of my life.
This is the most disciplined prisoner ever. He's rather wait outside the prison FOR DAYS and shit himself rather than try to escape. I'm sure it will change as soon as he enters, though...
Oh my god xD It's so much fun seeing you fret about these managerial things, and then see the comments raging about you not fretting about the right things. It's one big panic party!
got this game last week , have to say the best way to play is to make a small prison and then sell it and start over, that way you have enough funds to actually build your prison big enough from the start, also alot of the rooms (common room, visitation, the canteen, classrooms ...) don't require walls you can just have a central area in the prison and designate the floor space
If you're going to move a room to another location, like moving your visitation room to the top of the facility, it's best to dismantle the stuff in the old room so it can be installed in the new room. Dismantled items go into a reserve to be used again instead of buying something new. And a problem with your trucks is that the delivery area is closed off. Workmen have to go around a fence, through a road gate, then climb a fence to drop off deliveries. It adds a lot of time. Building a large prison gate on the fence next to the zone can help a lot. If you're worried about a guard opening the door all the time, you can install a door servo on the gate and attach a remote door control to it. To fix your CCTVs, run the connection from the monitor to the camera.
NL, seeing the way your guards behave and how everything is flashing yellow in your deployment screen I'm pretty sure your sprwawling necropolis prison has bugged out the game. Not really sure how to fix that, but I think the lack of doors inside those endless corridors might be part of the problem. At the moment the game sees most of your prison as one giant complicated room and that seems to be f****** everything up a bit.
Panda Panda dpi That would be right, but if you look closely the front door is actually not open for leave - there still is a staff door between the delivery area and the road and that is enough to keep people from escaping. Yellow flashing in the deployment screen can mean multiple things, not just that you forgot to lock the front door.
The guards are escorting prisoners to their cells because you have the main entrance open. Close it and put a 1 tile patrol next to it so there is a guard there to always operate it. Also dismantle the big gates, they do you no favors at the moment.
rofl.. I just imagine being a visitor to this prison. Moving through the complete complex seeing guards running from cell to cell to move prisoners for around 1 meter and then leaving the cell again. Waiting a day to get back out of the prison, sitting for 2 hours in the visitation chamber waiting, while it takes the visited prisoner longer to get from his cell to the visitation chamber.
Rex2k10 Not assigning prisoners to cooking prevents them from having access to dangerous tools. As for laundry and cleaning - you need only as much as are needed to keep the place tidy. It doesn't help to have 20 prisoners doing laundry that can be carried out by 5.
Every episode I'm half expecting to find the Minotaur of Crete in this prison, somewhere-- Jesus, that looks messy. Really fun series, though. Thanks NL :)
Ryan, your job is seriously fucking hard. I legitimately could not put up with all the bullshitty comments. Thanks for the thousands of hours of free entertainment! I appreciate it.
I've watched some successful Prison Architect series. And now I totally forgot how they managed to successfully do it in my playthrough since watching Ryan play. Thank god he's not ruining my BOI skills.
Like 80% of the people who have commented have never played this game! Yet they all know how to make a prison better! :P I know this video is 4 months old, but you really need to zoom in and observe all the stuff that's going on.. Also, don't play for like 2 hours and split it into several episodes! So much good advice is given and it just goes right over your head..
Do you not see how your guards are just escorting prisoners to a spot in their cells and then rearranging them? They just go from cell to cell, back and forth, back and forth, rearranging the prisoners for no reason. But then you wonder why that one dude is stuck outside... lol
Yeah.. Sometimes I wonder what he's looking at.There are so many very obvious problems if only he would look around a bit. Although who knows if that issue can even be resolved... Seems like a borderline gamebreaking bug. Edit: Nevermind, he saw it. Although it does indeed seem gamebreaking. No idea why, though. I would consider starting over at this point.
No, he knows they're doing that. He just doesn't know how to stop it. Honestly, I don't either. Seems like a crippling game-ending bug. He might have to sell the prison and start anew with greater initial funds and a better idea of what needs to be done.
***** Perhaps... Although I had a kind of similar problem where one of my key employees that I need for grants refused to let me research because he thought he was in the "wrong" office. There might be a similar problem here, where the game thinks that the prisoner is "supposed" to be in another cell, so they send a guard to move him, but ends up taking him to the closest cell, which is the one he's already in. In which case the game is confused where the prisoner should be and simply doesn't work. I have no idea, though. Just a suggestion, really.
Water can move diagonally, so putting 3 drains in front of the door and making sure there's not a shower head diagonal from the door have worked to keep water from running out everywhere for me.
One tip at a time: For prisoners outside of your prison, click on them and then right click into a cell in your prison. A guard will come pick them up and put them in that cell.
I love how NL keeps criticizing the guards. Let's see... the front door to the prison is wide open. The door to the loading dock... wide open. One of the traffic gates - wide open. And yet, no one has escaped! These are the best guards on Planet Earth!
Rex2k10 Hey a shower, let's guard it with metal detectors and patrolling guards. Hey, the guard's armory, a wooden door will be enough to stop prisoners from getting in. NL's logic in a nutshell. :D
YoukaiBuster If I saw an armory apparently unguarded, with only a wooden door, I'd be seriously nervous that it was a trap. Ryan is playing some high-level mind games with these prisoners.
I'm pretty sure you designating time for lockup is what is causing your guards to escort people to their cells all of the time. It worked when you had less prisoners but now there are way too many prisoners for your guards to escort. the prisoners will go to their cells anyways during sleep time so you should replace lockup with something else.
You can click a guard and right click somewhere to make the guard go there. So you can send the guard to pick up the prisoner! This also applies to doctors, so you can send them to cells to heal prisoners as they won't ever leave that infirmary.
i had so much fun on your videos :) you are so innocent and funny haha.i like the way you treated your prisoners. i mean yeah they r prisoners so as long as you can have enough space for them to live then they should appreciate it. you made me want to build a prison look exactly like yours and just watch them.
Hey NL. You can gain money by choppind down trees and selling the wood. Its not that much but will help short term. Another option to get to money is to sell parts of your prison as stocks. Its in the valutation tab. Basically free cash ;)
Need guard deployments! keep them contained to smaller areas. Also, better routing for your workmen, cooks, guards etc. to the front door. They need to traverse your entire prison to get supplies.
NL I think you should sell your prison, and spend the 300k to plan out a really really good Max Sec prison. You can research everything and have everything built before even opening the doors. That's what I did and it was quite fun
You know, good for Joe. He was outside unsupervised for two (plus or minus) days. He could have easily booked it and not a single guard would have noticed. Now he's going to be made fun of by all of the prisoners, but hey at least he's got integrity.
Typical Corporate CEO "I just want to fire all my staff and replace them." Even though it has been the Northern CEO screwing up the planning. It's not the worker's fault at all.

NL, I think ur videos are awesome and I've watched this entire series but dude, DO SOME RESEARCH! If you just did a little bit of outside research on how to do CCTV etc. you could make an entirely functional prison, which I would very much enjoy seeing.
Because of how his prison is structured he loses a ton of efficiency from just guards having to walk half their work day to simply clear the hallway maze and get to their workplace. And he should setup security levels in the prison i.e Staff level etc on all rooms/areas of the prison, and make the patrols smarter. all in good time i guess :P
I would try moving your garbage further down the road so people don't have to wait on those trucks so much, and maybe some more exterior doors to make it easier for your workmen to get around

Ryab, make more entrances to rooms like the canteen and yard! The prisoners are all getting squashed trying to get in and it's taking up a lot of time Sincerely Dave

i'd say sell this prison and start over with new-found knowledge ( however limited that is )
i would feel bad for the people who buy this prison.
17:50 "Hey you, we're doing a shakedown we are searching you, *searches the Forgotten Joe* Okay bye"
Joe: These are going to be the longest years of my life.
"Why is this truck situation not going well edition." "Are they tired?" Ba-dum-tsch.
When they searched the prisoner and didn't bring him inside. Fucking lol.
Forget the prisoners revolting, it's the exhausted ass staff that He should be worried about.
This is the most disciplined prisoner ever. He's rather wait outside the prison FOR DAYS and shit himself rather than try to escape. I'm sure it will change as soon as he enters, though...
all your guards are busy keeping the prisoners in the cells because your main door is open and they try to keep them from escaping
Ryan is the American prison system, stack 'em in and let 'em suffer!
Really? He's the whole prison system?! I did not know that people can be american prisons.
Oh my god xD It's so much fun seeing you fret about these managerial things, and then see the comments raging about you not fretting about the right things. It's one big panic party!
Just make a 1 square patrol next to the doors that need opening, ffs ryan.
that doesn't work, they wont open it. You need to place 1 guard in that room and it will work
He could also get a control panel and then connect them to the doors

Nickel M roadgate is locked open too, so free access to outside
He needs a bigger staff room so more people can rest at once. Too much of his staff is exhausted.
You didn't zone your shower as a shower. It's just an unused room with drains & showerheads.
The guards are escorting prisoners to their cells because you have the main entrance open. Close it and put a 1 tile patrol next to it so there is a guard there to always operate it. Also dismantle the big gates, they do you no favors at the moment.

It's to keep them from getting too comfortable. Once they orient themselves, they can start planning.
Yeah.. Sometimes I wonder what he's looking at.There are so many very obvious problems if only he would look around a bit. Although who knows if that issue can even be resolved... Seems like a borderline gamebreaking bug.

man, NL's comments on the prisoner outside are golden.
NL, you just need one drain in the door frame per shower. Not 20000000. 1. :D
I had 1 drain in front of the shower, it leaked all over the place, so I added extras to solve the problem :)
Water can move diagonally, so putting 3 drains in front of the door and making sure there's not a shower head diagonal from the door have worked to keep water from running out everywhere for me.
"you guys should probably go..." laughed so hard the way he said that at 21:25.
17:45 & 20:50 are my favorite moments of Joe Hunaban
All right! Another episode! Homework will wait 22 minutes and 57 seconds! Yee-ha!

told u youd be surprised what you find i mean PINKING SHEARS LOL

Rex2k10 I'm waiting for things to go terribly wrong as well, and watch NL respond with "how did this happen?"
the whole joe thing was hilarious
northen lion, one cook can handel one cooker, so if you have more cooks, then you can make more food
It looks like you need more guards. All of them are busy doing something and that's why you couldn't get those inmates off the trucks.
I'm pretty sure you designating time for lockup is what is causing your guards to escort people to their cells all of the time. Oh Lord just reload the save to fix the escort to cell glitch my man, will save you so much time and energy.
i had so much fun on your videos :) you are so innocent and funny haha.i like the way you treated your prisoners. i mean yeah they r prisoners so as long as you can have enough space for them to live then they should appreciate it. you made me want to build a prison look exactly like yours and just watch them.
Ryan has created the Labyrinthian Prison. I shall call it LP for short.
You have a backup of trucks because your utilities room is right in the middle of the delivery area
Close the front door and the top road gate. It's like you want your inmates to escape...
lol, those unlocked doors, bro.
NL I think you should sell your prison, and spend the 300k to plan out a really really good Max Sec prison. You can research everything and have everything built before even opening the doors. That's what I did and it was quite fun
NL, do you know how many drains you need per shower room?
One. One Drain NL.
He didn't just have his front door open, he had his gate open too, no wonder the prisoners tried to escape
This is just absolutelyhilarious
You know, good for Joe. He was outside unsupervised for two (plus or minus) days. He could have easily booked it and not a single guard would have noticed. Now he's going to be made fun of by all of the prisoners, but hey at least he's got integrity.
Lmao The dude outside had a spoon during the shakedown
They can't go to the medbay because it is a staff door.
Hahaha very good episode haha laughed the whole way through and u need to stop the cell thingy ;)
Liked!! Like a cool lion ;P
You escort your prisoners to their cell because they have lockdown time. Lockdown time is bad.
Typical Corporate CEO "I just want to fire all my staff and replace them." Even though it has been the Northern CEO screwing up the planning. It's not the worker's fault at all.
Trust in the power of the cervos man! one guard can open and close all of the key doors for you if you place and link cervos above the key doors! its torture watching you bale water lol much love
haha loved that, NL thinks he got rid of the trucks .... he did not lolz. make ya delivery site bigger and maybe make a storage site
00:52 i thought i blinked and saw the isaac face for a split second...
NL, I think ur videos are awesome and I've watched this entire series but dude, DO SOME RESEARCH! If you just did a little bit of outside research on how to do CCTV etc. you could make an entirely functional prison, which I would very much enjoy seeing.
LOL PIANO WIRE!!! NL. you need to set a patrol out near the gate and they will open the gate everytime
NL the prisoner on the road had a spoon during the shakedown! You don't want that hoodlum in your prison!
Ryan with the drains,u can put one underneath a door. it saves dollars
Its now or never, he has to sell his prison!!! But the fact that he wont and that ill be witnessing hell of a riot is pretty satisfying!
Poor Joe... I feel so bad for him.
NL, you need a storage room closer to deliveries
Also, the trucks stop next to the delivery/garbage/export area. By extending that area the trucks are stopping before the road gate
"Northernlion's Big Wing"
They found a spoon on the prisoner on the street and still didn't move him..........................
At the end of the series/season make your prison into a living hell for the prisoners (more so than it already is)
you turned the oven and sink the wrong way you ding dong :)
dingus*
I would try moving your garbage further down the road so people don't have to wait on those trucks so much, and maybe some more exterior doors to make it easier for your workmen to get around
I've never seen it blink yellow like that.
I noticed that all the prison doors are opened. Maybe it has something to do with the guards escorting prisoners around? I also noticed that the prisoners are handcuffed in the cells...weird...maybe it relates to the bug too?
If your prison was secure you wouldn't have the madness with the guards.
Un designate and re designate all the cells. The prisoners are stuck because the guards are confused. That's why the needs are not getting fulfilled
you can click nurses and guards to do tasks for you. alot easier then waiting :)
also the wall to the main hallway in the west wing of ur prison in the area by the workshop seems pretty unnesseseri :P makes every1 have to move around the entire prison to get in there when all the had to do is walk left :P
Ryab, make more entrances to rooms like the canteen and yard! The prisoners are all getting squashed trying to get in and it's taking up a lot of time
Sincerely Dave
You should work on spacing stuff out more (especially in your canteens). I'd be pretty salty too if I had to climb over 3 tables and benches holding a tray of food in my hand just to sit and eat.
Joe Hunban, You stay outside and think about what you've done.
CLOSE THE FREAKING FRONT DOOR IT WILL FIX EVERYTHING
Anyone else wanted to reach through the screen and smack NL.. just to tell him to hire more guards.. ( and several other things too but this was the one that got to me the most >< .. )
NL you're keeping the front door to your weird as prison locked OPEN.
...For convenience!
Working a prison is the opposite of convenient. Lock the damn door! ou'r prisoners can just run out and try to slip through with all the damn trucks, even with the 2nd staff door, sheesh.
Thanks for the new episode though.
Medbay?

Love it :D
Personally I would sell the whole thing. I think it's bugged with the move prisoners to cells thing. It has being moving them for like two or three parts..
So many rooms has no light! Fix it!
You should buy a second serve table for the canteen
Your backed up because your delivery area is full. Prisoners are treated like shipments.
Place cctv monitors into staff room (they wont stop to go rest)
man his prison went to shit fast as fuck
NL: heard some prisoners getting orny... o nope it was just a dog barking
me: .-. dafuq NL dafuq xD
mate you need more guards to do stufz
