NL, you've still got an un-fenced space directly above the top road gate, you can't see it due to the sprite of the road gate itself but people can just walk in and out...
Ryan STOP UP for a second and LOOK at your prison! There are SO many things that are really easy to improve. 1. You've got a pointless empty room right next to the over-crowded tiny infirmary. Knock down the wall and make the infirmary bigger. 2.Remove the little kitchen inside the cantina, knock the walls down and put more tables and benches there (ie expand the cantina). You already have a bigger kitchen, and it's not really being utilized much. No point having two kitchens. 3.The common room isn't used by anyone, EVER. Tear it down, make something else there. 4. Lock off some cell blocks with prison doors and assign them maximum security only (separating max and normal security prisoners). 5. make a small separated block for your protective custody prisoners to protect them, assign that area to "protective custody only" to prevent random prisoners from using that area as well. 6. And remember that just because a prisoner of yours is a CI or in protective custody, that doesn't mean they're "good guys". They'll still fuck shit up, so pay attention to them too!
"its the first thing theys ee in the prison" he says, referring to a yard in the back, blocked from view by a building you have to go through the whole prison to get to
"Where are all these tools coming from." - Has an open undoored storage area with no metal detectors. Throw in large pipes near cells. No wonder there's so many tunnels.
to prevent a lot of issues with contraband, and prevent tunnels, put jail doors in places that section off cell areas from everything else. Then assign a guard to each area, and you will be able to see all the shenanigans that they try to attempt.
Oh silly NL ^_^ Drugs aren't made of metal! You have to use guard dogs to sniff them out. Also, you should consider putting a Staff Door on the med bay so that the crims can't just walk in and take what they want whenever they feel like it, which they will. Also, I would put those Max Secs on more Lock Down and less Free Time. They're gonna make trouble no matter what, so taking care of their needs doesn't do much. Heck, it's not even worth it to put 'em to work. Love your show man!
Hey NL! Metal detectors only go off on contraband that has the "metal" tag. Some drugs, like the needle, have this tag. There is also the chance that the detector goes off, but your guards miss the contraband when searching him.
Its good to know that "cell block" seems to be designated by building. That's why when NL chooses it every cell is searched. Most people (including the tutorial and developers) make their prison with separate buildings surrounded by a fence
BIGhappyG33 I know late comment is late, but... The deployment/cell block search issue he had is actually due to the lack of internal doors in his prison. If you go to any ordinary prison, they have actual jail doors dividing sections up, the result of this is that if anything kicks off in one area then it can be contained. For the purposes of the game, it means that you've divided into sections where you can deploy guards (the reason he can't deploy to the canteen directly is that he seems to have some kind of pathological dislike of putting doors at the entrance, presumably so it reduces bottlenecks, however that effect is negated by the tiny doorways & narrow hallways he uses), & designate cell blocks either by security category or for searching.
One tip at a time: Sectioning off your prison with jail doors locked open is a great way to create cell blocks. You can use these new, smaller blocks to more efficiently search for tunnels and contraband as well as stationing guards. You get the added benefit of extra doors if you need to lockdown the prison.
Your prisoners can take anything from the bottom workshop. There's a metal detector but you opened end up another route into the new cell block that doesn't have a metal detector.
If you make a few more doors, you can have the cell blocks work as cell blocks - right now all of your cell blocks, the shower and the canteen are just one huge area.
NL, you should consider opening the walls of your canteen with the doorways on them and just make a line of metal detectors. prisoners get so clogged up when you just have single openings, even if you have a couple single openings. Love the series regardless though!
Maximum security is pretty cushy in NL prison, lol. All my Max guys get is time to eat and time to shower, otherwise they're in lockup. Installs metal detector, forgetting the first word is the one that matters in that name. Drugs and poison aren't metal silly!
Metal detectors detect drugs and poison for some reason, he made a joke about the drugs having lots of zinc in them in one of his earlier episodes, idk which one.
Back when NL made a let's look at of this game it was in an earlier alpha that let metal detectors find just about everything. Since he never seems to bother with the extremely helpful alpha videos that go up he never learns these things. At least it's hilarious to watch
25:13 Did you seriously just put a prisoner who was convicted of assaulting an Officer in protective custody with another prisoner who was Ex-law enforcement? This can only end in bloodshed.
You need a metal detector coming in from the yard, prisoners can now make phone calls, and schedule to have stuff thrown over the wall (drugs, tools, and everything else) also stuff can be smuggled in in food, cleaning supplies, the boxes of prison uniforms, so basically anytime you have prisoners working anywhere or outside anywhere near the edge of your prison they can get stuff.
Those deaths were completely your fault - you can't just search the specific cells your snitches tell you about, you have to search the whole cell block to prevent suspicion from going through the roof.
NL has enough trouble without ignorant people telling him to do stupid things. Please, if you've never played the game, just be quiet and don't tell him what to do.
Hey NL! :o Not if you meant too do it or not but you put a staff door too the dog kennel, security, and the armory yet the prisoners can just go through storage and out that workshop you made. You put a regular door on so they can completely bypass the whole staff door you installed.
NL, in your large cells (the ones that are 4 things long) the toilets are attached to nothing and its getting annoying. also make the hallways 2 wide instead of 1, it relives traffic. thanks for making the series, its awesome
Northernlion, how are metal detectors going to detect drugs or poison? They aren't stealing mercury, man. Though that would make your prison about twenty times more awesome. Yard time is just mortal combat over a vat of mercury.
12:00 unless you sneakily put iron or other metals in your prisoner's drugs, a metal detector won't go off. You can only find drugs or medicin by using the dogs, or searching pre-emptively.
as i told you before Mr Lion , you need to be less greedy with cramming as much cells in as possible and make all other types on rooms huge like a huge shower with loads of entrances same with med ward ect , and obv make sure ur stitches aren't always on the go as you found out :) , main thing tho as i said less greedy with cells , enjoying the series tho 1 thing if you didn't all ready know you can mark areas off as high risk medium ect , so you could build a little off canteen to separate them and can do stuff at same time :)
Wooden pickaxe: wont be detected by metal detectors, they are wood. Drugs: Can be pills, bottles of liquid, metallic syringes. that's why drugs can SOMETIMES be found, but thats also why you haven't found some drugs until searching rooms, thats how they end up in the prisoner's rooms in the first place, while going through multiple detectors because instead of needle drugs, they might have sneaked some pills instead.
Keeping in mind Max Security prisoners typically were kept separate from others... If I get this game they'll be lucky to have free time... It'll be eat.. sleep 1 hour yard period.
You can always create separate wings for maxsec, normal and protected prisoners, include all the basic needs in each wing...saves on them mixing and killing each other too often. Or just keep it as is for the entertainment. lol
My prison is so good they mix and mingle and a lot of misers happen but whatever I based it off of a anime so I get money from a "company" even though I play legit on a different save and murder is solitary for 32 hours no toilet like NL gives them for some reason
Rather digging the new update to the game, seems to really add an extra layer of challenge and character to the game. Also helps to keep the series fresh and, most likely, quite addictive for NL!
Metal detector don't detect drugs lol only dogs do that :P a good trick is to have dogs in the canteen and deliveri, visitation and the cleaning room. About the snitches, you can see how specious they get every time you use them if they start to know them put them in idle and make sure they get protected ;)
You should be taking the $500 loan from the start. It might not seem like much to begin with, might even seem like it is harmful to you. But the sooner you take it, the sooner you are able to take a massive loan when you are up shit creek without a paddle. Once you reach the max credit rating, pay off the $500 loan and you'll be able to get up to a $250,000.00 (I think that is the max) when you need money.
NL you got the wrong guy. The guy in the cell next to the guy you put in protective custody was the EX-Law-enforcement. So you put the wrong guy into custody.
really need to get rid of so many drains -_-; drains block water, thats their only purpose. thus putting drains under the shower head will render it useless. also you need to space out a little more. units need at least half a square to move, you'll noticed when large amount of people going through door ways they just end up block themselves, same with your spacing for your benches and tables and such. they just simply cant get to them efficiently
As far as I can tell, the game seems to avoid things like that. All of the prisoners seem to be in for crimes like assault and burglary, I don't think any of them are there for rape or child molesting or anything that some people would take offence at.
Christopher Waymark, he was a good man from... from where was he? From somewhere... I suppose he wasn't really all that good to end up in prison as well... Well - what matters is he was our CI and he did his job well - snitching out on the other prisoners trafficking drugs n shit... and now his watch is ended...
"Gonna put a metal detector here which should tell me if people are stealing medical drugs" Well, this game MIGHT be set in the future where all drugs have metal in them..
"NL yells at tiny men" is getting to be my favorite series.
You. sir, have made my night.
NL, you've still got an un-fenced space directly above the top road gate, you can't see it due to the sprite of the road gate itself but people can just walk in and out...
I done told you in episode 4, Leeno. First rule of Prison Architect: Snitches get stitches.
"He was a good snitch" The only good snitch is a dead snitch Kappa
Ryan STOP UP for a second and LOOK at your prison! There are SO many things that are really easy to improve.

Crazy how compact this is but glad its working. Cell config is good and workshops galore. Nice.
Hello, watching NL too?
Watching NL= 100 generic disapproval points
I loved the Ben-Isreal reference from Star_'s video
***** I checked the comments to see if people got it ahahahahahaha
Basically: Prison Architect.
i love that star got into this video
"its the first thing theys ee in the prison" he says, referring to a yard in the back, blocked from view by a building you have to go through the whole prison to get to

"There's been a job opening"
I'm still laughing about that shit.
Its good to know that "cell block" seems to be designated by building. That's why when NL chooses it every cell is searched. Most people (including the tutorial and developers) make their prison with separate buildings surrounded by a fence

6:40 that star_ reference is amazing
One tip at a time:

That mazes and monster's reference left me in tears
I love how NL just skips over the STAR_ reference
minute?
He probably isn't a Ster_ fan.
Hencel but we are
Panda Panda dpi He can´t comment about it if he didn´t saw the the video.
We are the chosen ones. :3
Your prisoners can take anything from the bottom workshop. There's a metal detector but you opened end up another route into the new cell block that doesn't have a metal detector.
loving the Prison Break allusion at 17:31.

I have a prison that I kind of based off of an anime and everyone works for 9 hours a day and 1 hour of free time
How DO you detect drugs?
suspectsn0thing Dogs.
I'm surprised no one commented on Atle "Sxorpion" Aalerud being a reference Prison Break
They can sneak tools from the workshop by going through the cell block and through the showers
+Tre Fielding ive been noticing that!!! its been bugging me for so long lol
You really should also add more doors and jail doors. it will allow you to section off cell blocks.
Since you don't have doors on your canteen you assigned 3 guards to your whole prison
25:13 Did you seriously just put a prisoner who was convicted of assaulting an Officer in protective custody with another prisoner who was Ex-law enforcement? This can only end in bloodshed.
You need a metal detector coming in from the yard, prisoners can now make phone calls, and schedule to have stuff thrown over the wall (drugs, tools, and everything else) also stuff can be smuggled in in food, cleaning supplies, the boxes of prison uniforms, so basically anytime you have prisoners working anywhere or outside anywhere near the edge of your prison they can get stuff.
they can bypass the metal detectors by going though the showers
Those deaths were completely your fault - you can't just search the specific cells your snitches tell you about, you have to search the whole cell block to prevent suspicion from going through the roof.
NL put the CIs in protective custody.
How would they spy on the prisoners then?
Game doesn't make sense just by itself so they would somehow.
I would put Laura in protective custody now that suspicion on her is so high
NL has enough trouble without ignorant people telling him to do stupid things. Please, if you've never played the game, just be quiet and don't tell him what to do.
Do you need to experience being shot in the leg to know that you should bandage it?
Best episode so far.
"Can you please remove the dead body from my classroom"
great episode, finally some action!
Haha, that Sweet Genius reference. I see someone else watches Ster.
17:35 Don't look at me in that tone of voice!
Hey NL! :o Not if you meant too do it or not but you put a staff door too the dog kennel, security, and the armory yet the prisoners can just go through storage and out that workshop you made. You put a regular door on so they can completely bypass the whole staff door you installed.

To make things simple i would search every cell during evening lock up
Shit is poppin' the fuck OFF.
NL, please stop the violence.
You put the wrong guy in protective custody. The Ex Law enforcement was above his head but it was pointing to the guy in the cell to the right.
You know, it would be easier to 'Search Cell Blocks' if you used these things called 'doors' to section off areas of your prison.
Northernlion, how are metal detectors going to detect drugs or poison? They aren't stealing mercury, man.
Though that would make your prison about twenty times more awesome. Yard time is just mortal combat over a vat of mercury.
when you get tips from CIs only toss cells for the weapons or poison to keep the suspicion down
12:00 unless you sneakily put iron or other metals in your prisoner's drugs, a metal detector won't go off. You can only find drugs or medicin by using the dogs, or searching pre-emptively.
Those poor poor informants, all they wanted was to get an education.
as i told you before Mr Lion , you need to be less greedy with cramming as much cells in as possible and make all other types on rooms huge like a huge shower with loads of entrances same with med ward ect , and obv make sure ur stitches aren't always on the go as you found out :) , main thing tho as i said less greedy with cells , enjoying the series tho
1 thing if you didn't all ready know you can mark areas off as high risk medium ect , so you could build a little off canteen to separate them and can do stuff at same time :)
I love how the cameras in NLs canteen are like "EEEER KILL MEE"
NL just cave in to our OCD demands man !!
Even the walls out :P !
Or we will grab our pitchforks
Amen brother ! Now Burn the witch !! Burn her anyway !
NL you have to dismantle the toilets now to get a 100% tunnel find, searching the cells doesn't always find them :)
Wooden pickaxe: wont be detected by metal detectors, they are wood. Drugs: Can be pills, bottles of liquid, metallic syringes.
that's why drugs can SOMETIMES be found, but thats also why you haven't found some drugs until searching rooms, thats how they end up in the prisoner's rooms in the first place, while going through multiple detectors because instead of needle drugs, they might have sneaked some pills instead.
you should search your kitchen and storage more, the boxes will have stuff in them the prisoners have hidden
21:15 PRISONER ESCAPING through Exports area!!!
When do you think he's gonna remember his plans for that giant second canteen? Too late now, there's a cell block in the way xD
After all these deaths I think Kate needs to come through with her mop and water bucket machine to clean up your prison!!
06:36 gotta lobe that Star_ reference tho
Metal detectors don't detect drugs, dogs do
Keeping in mind Max Security prisoners typically were kept separate from others... If I get this game they'll be lucky to have free time... It'll be eat.. sleep 1 hour yard period.
Consider rotating snitches so none of them ever fill their suspicion bars.
:D, It's a riot only when a riot warning comes up!
dat star ref doe
Maybe use the 'Supermax' prisoner feature? It's in the same drop down menu as protective custody. :)
You can always create separate wings for maxsec, normal and protected prisoners, include all the basic needs in each wing...saves on them mixing and killing each other too often. Or just keep it as is for the entertainment. lol
Durst! The dream!
6:30 The only reason i got that reference is because of star's video
There is no downside to being a max security prisoner. They get everything the same, except less crowded. Seems like a perk :)
your CCTV in the canteen is not pointing the right direction
Aw, I liked the palm tree in the yard. :(
You are Way to lenient on your Maxes. Make a separate building for them... totally self contained.. Stop mixing them at all.
My prison is so good they mix and mingle and a lot of misers happen but whatever I based it off of a anime so I get money from a "company" even though I play legit on a different save and murder is solitary for 32 hours no toilet like NL gives them for some reason
might need more cooks and cookers
Rather digging the new update to the game, seems to really add an extra layer of challenge and character to the game. Also helps to keep the series fresh and, most likely, quite addictive for NL!
So much better now in alpha25 that there is more action, let some max sec prisoners in so you can get some legendaries too.
Metal detector don't detect drugs lol only dogs do that :P a good trick is to have dogs in the canteen and deliveri, visitation and the cleaning room. About the snitches, you can see how specious they get every time you use them if they start to know them put them in idle and make sure they get protected ;)
Heh that Ron Ben Israel reference!
Someone has been watching STAR_ videos.
There should be an "execute prisoner" button so NL can set an example of what happens when you cross the line
The sweet genius dude is an actual guy!!! LOL!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😝
I am skinny, and definitely not fat.
You should be taking the $500 loan from the start. It might not seem like much to begin with, might even seem like it is harmful to you. NL, metal detectors do not detect drugs but Dogs do! so if you want to find drugs, station dog patrols in hallways :)
Have you ever gotten the prisoner Ned "Neighborino" Flanders?
NL: *grunt*
me: *grunt*
NL: *grunt*
me: ...
me: *grunt*
Do more shake downs so prevent the tools to make tunnels
Also a lonely kitchen.
So... The hole in the fence right at the exports section and the gate... Does that EVER get resolved?
12:03 how the metal detector as supose to detect drugs lol, think is a dog's work
LION!!! MAKE A FORESTRY AREA! WOOD PLANKS ARE WORTH MORE THEN LICENCE PLATES!!!!
NL you got the wrong guy. The guy in the cell next to the guy you put in protective custody was the EX-Law-enforcement. So you put the wrong guy into custody.
really need to get rid of so many drains -_-; drains block water, thats their only purpose. thus putting drains under the shower head will render it useless.

good luck with the game
NL you're to nice against your max security prisoners
Please, can you put on more guard patrols!
nice hair style
make a bigger medical bay you have space right next to the one you already have
They should add females.
You have to separate males and females, if you don't it increases chances of shit happening. Would be interesting.
As far as I can tell, the game seems to avoid things like that. All of the prisoners seem to be in for crimes like assault and burglary, I don't think any of them are there for rape or child molesting or anything that some people would take offence at.

Well - what matters is he was our CI and he did his job well - snitching out on the other prisoners trafficking drugs n shit... and now his watch is ended...
Wow people really need to make sure their prisoner bios actually make sense before posting them.
I wonder if anyone has ever encountered a leeroy jenkins prisoner
Metal detector catching drugs? Huh whuh? I know you're under a lot of stress from all the deaths but ...
NL sings a lot recently
"Gonna put a metal detector here which should tell me if people are stealing medical drugs" Well, this game MIGHT be set in the future where all drugs have metal in them..
