INTENSE Hamstrings and Core Focus Workout | EPIC II - Day 24

  • Hamstring focused lower body session with a lot of work involving the glutes too and beginning with some core specific work! Starting with some core to help strengthen the entire core and provide protection for the lower back.
    All you will need for this workout is your mat and a pair of dumbbells. The dumbbells I am using for your reference are 15kg each.
    The timer will be on for the core portion at the beginning for 50 seconds of work, 10 seconds rest. The last 10 seconds of the 50 seconds will be a hold! Simply listen out for the beep!
    All of the following are followed by a 10 second hold!
    Deadbug (one side)
    Deadbug (switch)
    Double Deadbug
    Hip lift to leg lower
    Plank saw
    Long plank
    Low plank side knee tuck
    High plank knee tuck
    Low plank side knee tuck
    High plank knee tuck
    Side lying hollow
    Side plank to hollow
    Side lying hollow
    Side plank to hollow
    Plank with alt leg/arm raise
    The lower body portion is 40 seconds of work, 20 seconds of rest!
    Sumo Squats - 3 sets
    Sumo deadlift squat - 3 sets
    RDL - 3 sets
    Good mornings - 3 sets
    Forward lean lunges - 2 sets each side
    American version - 3 sets
    Staggered RDL - 2 sets per side
    Kneeling to staggered RDL - 2 sets per side
    When we come to the mat, no rest! All of these are followed by a 20 second hold!
    Single leg lift
    Single leg lift
    Double march
    Double up & down
    Last set is 20 seconds per exercise!
    Single leg hold
    Single leg hold
    Double leg hold!
    I love the slow pace of these workouts for that mind to muscle contraction. Also the slow descent into the stretch of the RDLs to really focus on lengthening and using the hamstrings!
    Remember if you feel anything in the lower back, either perform bodyweight to get your alignment correct. Think about long spine, fold at hips and hips back. Slight bend at knee and only lower or where you feel stretch in hamstrings and are able to maintain that long back!
    You will finish feeling awesome after this... and worked!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

      Exactly, there’s so much more to Caroline. The workouts, the plans, the creativity and hardworking that goes into it, and being so consistent.     I can only agree to all the comments every day. I have an injurie in my right arm at the moment, but as there is plenty of exercises to choose from and also I can do modifications, I keep on going. Two sequences that I really found amazing is the side lying hollow and the kneeling to staggered RDL!!! Always endless new ideas and sequences. Off course there is also recurring exercises, but always in different sequences etc etc. That is what it makes such fun at the same time and never never never ever boring , and therefore we stick to your plans Caroline! And if there is no specific plan , due to other obligations, you have given us so much to choose from. So yes, again thank so much! And thanks community. I might not write all days, but the comments are such fun and a huge motivation! Anyway, happy and healthy second half of this again EPIC week!

    Hi everyone. So we are nearly half way through EPIC 2 and I’m sure we all agree it has been a great journey so far! What is so good? I will just say two things! First superbly planned workouts...always challenging which is what we want but always fun to do! Second superbly produced videos! Fantastic editing and beautiful use of colour!     Such a killer workout! My favorite exercise of the day was kneeling to RDL, but I had so much fun with all of it! When I started your workouts I think I was using 15 lb (x2) dumbbells and today I was able to use 30 lb (x2), which any weight is good so that's not the important part. What's important are the muscle gains, endurance and health you are helping us build. Also, I'm so excited to see forearm strength gains. Who knew that would be so exciting?! 😆 I think it may be the most rewarding because it helps me in all of your workouts. It's still and probably will always be a work in progress so it will be fun to see what I can hold on to in a couple of months! Can't wait to do this again! Thank you so much!

    New to Caroline. Have come really long way in my fitness journey in this past year. And now Caroline. I really Love her so much {the workouts are a lil hard but I LOVE THEM}. Love all the way from Saudi Arabia❤❤. Your workouts get posted here at 8AM and that's when my classes begin so I can't do them ryt away but as soon as my classes get over I do them so that's 1PM for me.

    Hello Caroline, Hello Community, I hope you are all good. This is a fantastic session today which I enjoyed as I increased my weight, focused on form, and won the battle with me. I am really loving the extra tutorial at the start that you can really utilise throughout the workout, today the focus was RDL which was super. The Core section is just great so focused with some new exercises. Today I used 17.5 Kg DBs for the hamstring section and this was a good challenge for me, I really felt I was moving up a level. FWD lean lunges were tough with the weight but managed to complete with really good form and the Staggered RDL to kneel I had never seen before so that's my pick of the day that was an awesome move. The Hamstrings were well worn by the time I got to the mat work and had to take a few wee breaks. Really enjoying EPIC II Caroline it certainly is more about challenging yourself and developing which I think is so motivational, and the slower the movement the more intense it is I feel. See you for Fullbody Friday but if this continues I am going to run our of interchangeable plates, who would have though I would be close to using the full weight a few months back. Congrats on slipping past the 600 000 amazing achievement. Anthony

    Epic II day 24 done ✅
    This one wasn’t too bad but oooh it’s a burner, the kneeling to staggered RDLs were particularly mean. 😳
    My hamstrings were completely fried by the end but I really enjoyed it. 😆🔥🔥
    I used my 12.5kg dumbbells throughout - getting stronger, thank you Caroline!! 💪💪

    In the first part I was feeling the burn and when I looked that it was only at 31% I wanted to cry!. But the leg part flew by. I love Romanian dead lifts and ham string marches.

    Caroline, I love your workouts. But I have a very busy intense schedule and I try my best to do all 5 of your workouts but sometimes I am so tired I can only manage to complete 4 a week. Could you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make up a 3 days suggested split based on your epic 1 and 2? I would be forever grateful, you have changed my way of working out, I used to hit the gym hard and now I won’t go back anymore as you make me feel more fatigued and satisfied at the same time by training at home!!!

    Thank you Caroline! You were the first person on my mind today. Girl when i did my stretch to get out of bed my triceps reminded me of the amount of rows we did yesterday 😅😱 but nonetheless less i put on a brave face and check my phone notifications for today's workout. I just completed it so came to say Wow WoW! LOVE IT!! I just can't get enough. Today i can see growth in my mental and physical strength because I actually was dancing through the breaks because I was happy to see what you going to hit me with next. Thank you so much!!!

    When I read the description I thought the 10sec break we had to do 10ssc hold, essentially meaning no break between ab exercises...after first exercise was glad to see 10sec break..by the end of Abs exercise that 10sec break didn't help whatsoever...
    Even laughing hurts at this point...
    Will reap the benefits of this workout in 2-3 days, today need severe rest...
    Killer workout Caroline, no joke for EPIC II week5...

    O my, the hamstrings! The are on fire. Never ever were they on fire like this. And they get stronger and stronger thanks to CGs workouts! This is my second program (finished Epic 1) and still learning new moves. I like that!

    I’m still ploughing my way through epic 2, but I was just thinking to myself that I have absolutely embraced leg days over these programs Caroline!! I used to avoid them and when I started epic 1 I could only maintain 10lbs dumbells and I probably dropped them for body weight half the time. My form has evolved, aches that I experienced earlier are no longer there, and I am up to 25lb dumbells for leg days with so much increased stamina. I kinda sorta love you 🥲

    Late one for me tonight and what a good un it was. Love working hamstrings led down, so isolating, and the various planks at the start were tough after yesterday's rows. So good how leaning forward on lunges shifts the focus from your quads to your glutes ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

      Yea way to go girl, another one smashed, I loved today, all the RDLs and sumos, definitely the shoulders took a battering on the planks, but a great variety of them, your sleep well tonight 😁👏

    Epic 2 is flying by. Thank you Caroline for creating these amazing workouts. Your smiles and dedication inspire me to keep going during some very challenging workouts. Some epic 1 and 2 days were so hard I’m surprised I made it through, while others flow more easily. I feel proud of the strength I’ve gained since starting. There are some exercises I’m still working on doing as well as you do (or at all) and these are great opportunities for growth. Thank you for sharing your gifts and shining your light throughout the world.
