1450 core clock, 800mv core voltage, 1850-1860 for memory (925-930 for Linux). You may have to dial down the memory if you are getting invalid shares. Also the type of memory (samsung vs micron) your GPU has will impact it’s ability to reach 57 or 58 Mh/s. Micron seems to be the best for the 5700 series of cards.

Thanks Alex. I really appreciate your kind words. I do plan on doing a full rig build video once I can get my hand on a few more new GPUs. Thanks again buddy. Happy mining!
Addendum for those using this card BOTH as gaming and mining card. I did a little test on TimeSpy and Benchmark in Rainbow Six Siege to see if the mining vbios affects gaming performance. I got the same score on the TimeSpy (Vs. stock vbios), and even better FPS with the mining vbios in Rainbow Six Siege! It seems like you can have best of the both worlds!

I cannot put those settings you suggest in AMD control panel since my card shows about 30 degrees C higher in temp than yours in general does already. Mine is obviously in my PC case packed near my CPU etc etc.. which I understand doesn't help general heatflow and such. I also have 2 monitors attached which would require some more GPU cycles, and the screens start to jitter like crazy with those settings. It eventually just crashed after a minute or so. My default MH rate was about 48, but just clicking "overclock vram" button alone in AMD control center which didn't really do much to overall temps and power consumption it increased to about 52 MH/s which is a nice boost for little cost.

Oh well, I did not do the unlockrom step and now I am left with a bricked Asus RX 5700 XT. It has dual bios switch, but I am afraid to try to flash the only working position of this switch.. :(
Is it possible that after modding the bios, the GPU won't start because of the memorry timings being too low? I am just afraid that I can brick my GPUs

I personally pull of the plastic thingies bc it gets warm in my basement, fans are spinning 70-90% and i don’t want imbalance there over a longer period of time.. would just reduce the bearings lifespan, wear them down🙂
Thanks for the lots of information. Helped a lot. It managed to reach 56 Mh / s with 90W / h consumption. My question would be, is this modded bios suitable for running games, or is it recommended to flash the factory bios back?
With flashing the new bios you are able to lower vcore to 725mV and you wont use that in gaming, so it doesn’t matter, do it, leave it, you wont use it. But by copying lower clock vram-values into higher clock vram-values you adjust the timings. This will result in more performance, but you will need more power of course. This is achieved by also adjusting load line calibration. The Memory modules will then be able to draw more voltage for longer periods of times. This can be harmful or it can’t, you never know ;) Also the workload in gaming is a different kind so with high core temps, more heat in your heatsink and the different workload you will face instability more than performance increase🙃
Nice video, my stock 5700xthad about 47mh/s and after overclocking I got it to 50.5mg/h at 120w I can't seem to get as high as it should be doing for some reason... I might consider bios modding just to test

Hi Mike. I'm honestly not too sure on your question. I haven't gamed on a 5700. If your 5700XT has a dual bios you could test performance in gaming after modding and always either flash back or flip the bios switch when gaming. Not ideal though. Maybe someone else can chime in here and share their experience.

Hello, I followed your step by step flashing the bios but after I flashed the modded bios, I get an error, its like the software of gpu is not installed. Please help
Mike, if anyone can advise me, I thought you could/would... Now, i cant boot even to bios if card is in the system. Its not riser, cord, pcie... 5700xt (bios modded) was fine, added a new card to system today. All fine after, but memory clock for 5700 would not go below prior setting of 1818. Afterburner often showed this as the new minimum or when it did not, reverted to 1818 when i tried to go lower. So, I DDUd. Same problem with a few diff drivers. So, i tried to flash back original bios (saved prior via amdvbflash). I remembered to unlock and used correct device #. Error, Write Fail 01f...1. Tried a few times. After this reboot, PC will not boot even to bios, just a red light vga on mobo and a cursor. Reseated, swapped cables, riser, slots, drained power long time... Nothing. Removed 5700 & boots and works fine again without it in system. System: Amd Ryzen 5800x Aorus ultra X570 2 x 16 ram 1000w psu Other cards (but removed some in testing) 6800xt, 3080, 3060ti Killawatt read between 800-900w draw w all four mining previously so has enough power.
Getting 55.87 with no bios mod and I only tried over clocking on it for a few minutes but crashing when I try to undervolt at all. It is my dedicated graphics but….idk

Hi Guys!!! Great video!! I'm a bit new in mining and I have 4 MSI rx5700 MECH OC that the memory temps after bios mod, OC and undervolting, are between 78-84º celsius... Do you think that this mem temps are safe for 24/7 mining?? Do I have to worry about the "lifespan" of the cards?? Thanks in advance
Those memory temperatures are actually amazing for those cards. I can't get my Mechs below 90 and right now they are at 96. You are in great shape. Thanks for watching!
Why modifying ramtiming to 5850 in the video? normallly taking 1550 and copy to other let it's timing to 2945 and you flash.. i don't understand why incresing timing to 5850
Yeah I don't use the power slider, at stock it allows 225w or more but the card will only draw what it needs to run the GPU clock and the voltage you have selected. If you pull the available board power down all the way to -50% thats still 112 watts available. I don't see how you would save power with this, even if you use power play tables to drop the power limit lower the card will just start down clocking below the target clocks, killing hash rate.
I'm getting error - default radeon wattman settings have been restored due to unexpected system failure - Anyone have idea to solucation? I've tried couple of solucation but still getting error.
A great video guide. Luckily, your card is with micron memory, not Samsung memory, otherwise that OC setting may not work. Also, Sapphire Pulse 5700xt can be bios flashed with RBE 3.04+, but not for all 5700xt.

I tested various settings, but after a short or a longer time, my PC is freezing - so i had to restart. With the same settings from this video my PC is freezing after some minutes mining... :( Please help.
i went from 50 mh/s to 58 mh/s on 1860 mhz but after a couple hours a "AMD Wattman error" appear and it went down to 54 mh/s with temperatures almost 100º. Going to try lower to 1840 or so to see if i can get it stable. Has the same happened to anyone else?
I have the same GPU. Would it be okay to continue using the computer while mining or it is definitely not advisable? Should one focus ETH only? does it need a pci-e 4.0 in order to work?
You can still use the machine while mining, hashrate will reduce depending on what you are doing. Eth is the most profitable right now and you don't need PCIe 4.
Not sure if anyone else thought of this but when editing the VRAM Timings with Red BIOS Editor (applying straps), you might save a little time editing the value of DRAMTiming12 tREF on 1550MHz FIRST. Did post it?
i just did the bios mod without changing any other settings and gained 4mh over stock. thats awesome!

@@RedFoxCrypto it's working, but I'm unable to get those 58 without getting invalid hashs, what numbers are you using for the OC? Would you mind sharing your Phoenixminer string ? Thanks again

I finally got this to work. My Red Devil 5700xt just always refused to flash bios no matter what I did. Always had 0FL01 error with stating my bios is unsigned. Today I tried sth new. Dumped the stock oc bios with amdvbflash. Modified it with Red Bios Editor. Turned down the pc and set bios switch to silent. Then just flashed normally with 2.93+ from Igor. (amdvbflash.exe -unlockrom command like I did before without any success)This time I also got message bios unsigned, but it did flash. After reboot Im able to achieve 55Mh/s (1800Mhz, 104w) instead of 51Mh/s. Also changed the thermal pads to some high quality ones. Now my mem temp peaks at 71° celsius instead of 78°. Great result imo.
I also encountered your situation. Can you explain in detail how you solved this problem?

Hey Mike. Excellent video. Could only find one other video where DRAM timing was changed. Wondering where you found the info to add 3000 to each DRAMTiming12? Addendum for those using this card BOTH as gaming and mining card. I did a little test on TimeSpy and Benchmark in Rainbow Six Siege to see if the mining vbios affects gaming performance.
Thanks for the video. No need to make changes to the Power Play tables ?
Really nice how-to. +10 TH-cam points for you
What's the wattage meter you are using in the video? I've seen a lot of people using digital read outs like this but can never find them.
I modded my gigabyte rx5700xt and it is not showing up now? I followed all steps, what can I do? (Note: i didnt have 2 memorytypes to change only 1 and typed in the 1550mhz changes)
Thanks for the video very helpful! Can the bios mod be used on different brands as long as it’s a 5700XT, I have a Asrock RX 5700XT Taichi do you think I can mod the bios on the same way as in the video?
Yes absolutely. You may just land with a slightly different overclocks and a different tREF setting.
Slow motion plastic peel..... Ahhhhhh 😆 also kudos to the one handed typing lol. That takes skill haha. Solid performance after that timing tweak! I did the 1500 timings copy on my 5700xt and it basically tapped out at 54.4MH on TeamRedMiner. Maybe I'll try the tREF tweak. Keep up the good content!

Is it possible that after modding the bios, the GPU won't start because of the memorry timings being too low? I am just afraid that I can brick my GPUs
I found VRAM frequency effects the hashrate

Hey fellow miner, love the video, can i ask you why you went so low on the core clock and the voltage? mine wouldnt run at that low of a setting. thx for the video:) Does this method also apply on other brand's 5700 and 5700 xt? I have 1 Asus 5700xt and an Msi 5700

This can be harmful or it can’t, you never know ;)
Also the workload in gaming is a different kind so with high core temps, more heat in your heatsink and the different workload you will face instability more than performance increase🙃
Nice video, my stock 5700xthad about 47mh/s and after overclocking I got it to 50.5mg/h at 120w
I can't seem to get as high as it should be doing for some reason... I might consider bios modding just to test

Just bad cards?
@@allnewpauly unfortunately yes. I kept tweeking and adjusting the oc settings until I got my max hashrate (about 51 mh) and the power at its minimum (117~w).
From what I've seen with other 5700xts this is quite normal, just your average silicon lottery.

Hi redfox. Subscribed after watching this vid. If i follow all the steps including bios modding my Gigabyte 5700XT, will it affect my gaming performance? I currently get 53.6MH/s using the undervolt settings in this video. Contemplating on following your bios mod settings... Your reply would help out my decision
Hi Mike. I'm honestly not too sure on your question. I haven't gamed on a 5700. If your 5700XT has a dual bios you could test performance in gaming after modding and always either flash back or flip the bios switch when gaming. Not ideal though.
Maybe someone else can chime in here and share their experience.
Mine gets like 49 or 50 in Nicehash with overclocks so I feel like that's pretty low. Might have to try this out.

Thanks for sharing dude! Makes sense to me. Happy mining brother!
