My chronic ankle instability is so bad I havent been able to walk properly for almost 4 years and none of the physiotherapists ive seen seem to care or want to help. Im low income so it's through Ontario's health care system and ive gotten no real help. I've decided to learn everything there is to know and solve it on my own. Its so discouraging to deal with a disability without any professional help. I'm scared i'm going to use the use of my ankle for good.

i find that over time my pain goes away, but i notice that soon as i got into squat position (no weight, repeat 10x ) it triggers my pain again.

This was really informative with great insights into how one should do physio. I wish I had watched this 3 years ago when I had a lateral sprain myself. Living in Germany it's so hard to get doctors appointments and each physio prescription is always 6 sessions, 20-30 mins each (up to 3 prescriptions per quarter). That's not enough and til today I'm still suffering from ankle instability :/ 😢

How is your pain fairing ? i started wearing asics kayano 30 and low orthotic, everywhere it has helped me the most.

Dealing with this for 25 years since I got hurt playing baseball sliding into 2nd base. Now my foot is facing outward. I have been to 3 podiatrist and all I got was shots until they stopped working and were told to wear a brace and insoles. After 25 years I went through really bad depression in my 20s, and now diabetic and way over weight. Everything I use to enjoy I can't. I'm not that good at the office type work. I end up working for a year or so and end up laid off. I am trying not to end up on disability but don't know what to do anymore.

I have ankle instability due to possible birth deformity ( Polio). As of today it’s gotten worse, can’t go walking. My ankle buckles, just made an appt with an ankle specialist. Wish me luck.

I broke my ankle 10-12 times in 2023, my ligament tore the first time, and i just didn't give it enough time to heal, now i get a sprain even while walking, many times my ankle gives away on any uneven surface, making me fall, i have been suggested brostorm as the only way to heal it now, is there any way i can avoid it and heal it with all this ?

I've never had any proper ankle injuries but my ankles are very unstable. I did sports as a child but never intensively and never hurt myself, just the regular childhood twisted ankle that wares off after 5 minutes. A lot of the time when I'm just walking, my ankles will buckle on both legs both when I am wearing heels and wearing flats. It happens at least once a month (considering I don't go out much this is quite a lot). I'm pretty distressed because of this as I have no health conditions or past injuries.

i have sprained my ankle since years, it started with skateboarding and basketball. first it swelled and i couldnt walk for maybe two weeks. now i sprain it sometimes but not from these sports. i do exercise and train also my foot. my feet got way stromger since walking more barefoot and exercising. but my right foot is way looser and has a chronic instability. the joint is way more flexible than on the left one. it come way more out of the socket than on the left foot. i have problems to control stability. what can i do now afterwards. is there a solution. thank you very much

I sprained my ankle. But I ignored it and continued to play sports. One day, my ankle really got injured again while playing football. Since then, it has been 5 months and it still hurts when I twist it. I have a ligament sprain bracer to help stabilise. But I’m not sure how long it would take. Any advice?

@@brunobach1979 it's getting better I guess because I've been doing rehab exercises. But I have to wear an ankle brace when I play sports. I am afraid of getting injured so I could never play like my old self anymore. I feel like I got nerfed.

I've been dealing with this for over 10 years now. I had surgery for osteochondrial lesion of the talus but that did absolutely nothing for me. Maybe i have tendonitis i don't know and the doctors are useless but my ankle feels sore and unstable all the time

If not carefuly, doing these rehabs may worsen the injury. E.g. My healthy heel can't even do 30 single leg raises without assist. I am physically strong and lean and exercise 2 hours daily and healthy weight. If it is true, it may require professional supervision to follow his guideline. If that is the case, why shouldn't I follow my own physiotherapist? Anyway, there is a study shown that wearing ankle brace would help, it did help me when I play tennis. Hope this help someone.
