This isn't a tier list of the "strongest classes" it's a tier list of the most "desired classes". Therefore the popularity of the classes is a factor to consider. A few people are missing that point.
Hi Meta, perhaps you should divide "most wanted classes in pve" and "most played classes in pve", what do you think?
Maybe make separate list and more content then 1 list that is completely off. Going to be a lot of shadow priest wondering around with out homes
@@IzyJamesthis won't happen man.. Shadow priests are not an overplayed class compared to a rogue or a fury warrior, because of the fact that they are support classes NOT pure damage dealers such as a warlock or a hunter.
Most wanted spec did not mean it will become the most played spec in the TBC Classic, because you have to like playing that spec as well. MetaGoblin even mentioned in his video at 10:00 as one of the least played specs, maybe not as rare as a boomkin, but they are still WANTED. You can almost guarantee your slot in a raid behind the shamans as you will be needed to regenerate a high amount of mana to your party, especially on a long fight like M'uru.
On the other hand, there is going to be LOT rogues and fury warriors without a guild, or on waiting lists as there will be too many competitions for the warglaives. This is more the kind of reality that we should expect from TBC Classic.
Yes i Think you should make it a 2 part video instead. 1 with the Most wanted and one with the 'tier" in their roles.

@Never GonnatellI disagree with your statements. Rogues and hunters are ones of the strongest, but not the most desired classes when it comes to pve as they are overplayed in tbc version. And when you mentioned that we already have a guild, this is only for classic wow. Classic tbc will be another story as we won't need 40 men to raid any longer, so guilds will most likely get divided with less active members than they currently have.

A good warlock is almost a need for certain bosses that require a warlock tank, so putting them in tier A isn't absurd, in my opinion.
Hi i like a lot your videos man keep it Up. One question about warriors. Its better lv up the warrior on arms spec or fury? And more think, warriors fury is bad at the begining of the expansion so its better do pve at arms spec then? Or fury spec with a two hands weapon?
Idk if u ever found an answer but my research has suggested questing and open world solo pve fury leveling is a little better than arms, but if you're doing dungeons or group pve arms will be better for the group b'c you can buff your group (even raid) with 4% damage. Its because of the raid buff that you'd likely want to respec arms at 70, but toward the end of the expansion when armor penetration gear becomes more available and raids become more melee-friendly that fury warriors and rogues can start to compete with hunters for dps, so more will be welcome in raiding. Personally I'll be returning to deep prot and leveling 60-70 just like I did 1-60 b'c I'm a masochist who loves to main tank.
One of the other advantages of the shadow priest they don't need too much stuff , once you get your the shadoweave set you can technically run until the T6 without worrying about replacing it
That is not advantage, cause you will be last person to get some items in raids (if your guild is not running on DKP system)

I would expect Boomkin to be higher because you mentioned this video is about early on in the patch cycle and Moonkins bring Faery Fire as a hit buff.

You didn't mention how Ret Paladin performance will differ greatly depending on Horde / Alliance, because Seal of Blood is a big deal.
Depends if Blizz leave it as is..or try to balance alliance/horde just to keep numbers even on both factions .
@@seanbailey8545 Judging how Classic turned out, there wont be any changes to that. I'm wondering if M.Gobbo took note of the seal-twisting horde ret.pallies can do with blood/judgement. Makes them hugely more viable than alliance retries.
Didnt blizz add seal of blood to Alliance during a later patch in TBC? They might release TBC on a later patch like they did with classic. I
seal of blood is like a 15% dps gain over SoCom tops. That is quite a difference, yes.

Ret Paladins will also boost the whole raid crit chance by 3% and the damage of those in his group by 2%

Belf rets pull decent dps and they can easily sit top 10, there is no way they would drain 10% raid dps come on

Thinking about playing a Feral tank with a healing off spec. And maybe a shadow priest alt..I Mained SP in TBC retail so it has a lot of find memories for me and I enjoyed being a mana battery lol.
Ele and enhance are both wanted as well the ap buff from enhance and the spell from ele are amazing for other dps

Shamans in ally and pala in horde, people gonna lvl like crazy to cath up.
Pallies are not so needed in TBC as they were/are in classic, sure you want a few for buffs but most raids I'm gonna say will stack shamans of all kinds.

Pally becomes better main tank than warrior in t6, uncrushable for 8 hits versus warrior only relying on 2 shield blocks.
Boomkin is best for it's hit debuff. Just that is as good as dwarf fear ward was.
Pretty good tier list. I agree for the most part. I think maybe Boomkin should be higher though. Depends on your raid comp I guess.
Towards the end of BC/LK I found dungeons to be getting boring with dungeon finder and some randoms op pally mate aoe.tanking the whole instance in one pull

Yes but everyone is hitcapped so whats the point? Maybe not casual players that enters Karazan for the first time but i wish it was 3% easier to crit the target (for the whole raid) like Retripaladin gets.

I’ve been play private tbc, practically since tbc was over with. Here’s what I’ve seen as classes needed most. Shamans. Period. Every group in a 25 man wants one. Totems, and bloodlust. 2 elementals, 2 resto 1 enhance. An ele adds 101 sp, 3%hit/critical to spell which is massive, since early on spellhit gems aren’t in the game. And hero/lust ofc. Windfury is a must for your melee group. Now classes I’m tbc are very different from heroics and 25 man content. Holy pally, must in 25, but suck in heroics. Port warrior, can be good in heroics, depending on skill level and group comp, but must as a maintank. Druids are a Must as resto in 25s. 2 min. More battle Rez the better. Warlocks/hunters/mages are solid all around. They bring lots to heroics with cc and even more so for 25s with being ranged, so easier to avoid shit, plus raid buffs, cookies, mage tank (gruuls lair) and misdirections. You’ll also want 1 survival hunter for your melee group. In all fairness I’ve seen every class at the top of each meter. Tbc allows you to really min max your class if you put the time and resources into it. I’ve seen alliance ret pallies destroy the meters in 25 content, as well as boomkins. They put in work with gear and consumables.

How come holy pallas suck in heroic? I've been wanting to play one in tbc.
Big Boss Currently playing on endless, and netherwing might be launching a fresh one. As for holy pallys, absolutely play one. They’re great in Kara and further. You can do heroics, it’s just you have no aoe, hots, shields. If your group is lazy it’s gonna be rough. Some end bosses I heroics put out way too much aoe dmg for you to keep up with just holy /flash light
My lock can't get a job for entire TBC while my feral druid is forced to change to resto and off tank which sucks because I ended up struggling real hard to get sufficient gear for both spec.
Still, I highly doubt that the right values for everything on private servers (same as for classic), and we might see different numbers for everything.

what about warrior arms in pve?
Where would arms warriors be on this list? if they even rank at all on here. I heard they give a melee damage buff so they might be a little desirable but I'm not sure.
You want one Arms warrior in a raid. Chances are that raid already has an arms warrior.
Disclaimer to the fury warriors: You wont get in any raids unless you are extremely lucky. Personal experience..
My personal experience was always having a raid spot even when I joined a new guild with 3 other dps warriors because I did good damage.
I once ask a fury warrior to help offtank on Moroes. He didn't have a shield in his bag......

I've seen every class to the damage meters depending on many factors: gear, group buffs, time-content, consumables etc.
Yeah it really depends on the fight and individual skill. Watching Costin from Serious Gaming progress through Tempest Keep and the top DPS (locks and hunters) pull ~1400 sustained dps. Compare that to the low dps of a ret paladin being around ~1200 and you see that the difference between top and bottom dps isn't nearly as severe as it is in classic.
That coupled with the fact that the TBC bosses will undoubtably be easier than private server's overtuned bosses means that I imagine all classes and specs will be viable for casual guilds that clear all content, if not seen in top speed running guilds.

back in a day feral in my guild was so usefull, he was off tank but in a bosses when we was need just one tank he easy swap to dps

Meta min/max raid setup:
Grp1: Prot Paladin, Mage, Survival Hunter, Affliction Warlock and Restoration Shaman.
Grp2: Prot Warrior, Ret Paladin, 2x Beastmastery Hunters and Enhancement Shaman.
Grp3: Feral Druid (third tank), Arms Warrior, 2x Beastmastery Hunters and Enhancement Shaman.
Grp4: Balance Druid, 3x Demo/Destro Warlocks and Elemental Shaman.
Grp5: Shadow Priest, Holy Paladin, /x Holy Priests and Resto Shaman.
You could drop 2 BM hunters and get another mage and a rogue into the raid, but that would reduce your overall raid dps.
SO hyped for pre-patch to make my spriest!!

i know enhance shaman isnt the best dps compared to elemental, i just dont really like caster play style. Will i be alright in getting into dungeons/raids relativly easily? i know you put them at an s tier but just curious for enhance shaman. thanks :)
Enhancement is top tier DPS... They MASSIVELY outperform elemental shamans.
Only at early T6 and beyond. Elemental is one of the highest performing DPS at T4 through T5, but falls off hard after that due to poor scaling.

@@B0dybagBen Sorry, tested both specs myself from pre-raid bis to T6. While you don't have have to agree, my finsings were that elemental van easily hit around 1000-1300 DPS in kara wearing pre-raid blues, something which nearly no other class can at that level. The reason being that ele is nearly hit capped and has decent crit early om from talents alone, something locks for instance just can't her early on sine they have to gear massively for it. Enh on the other hand struggles to reach 800 dps early on in kara, as it needs so many stats to start scaling well (hit, crit, haste, better weapons etc.). Especially haste and crit make enh scale super well (near 100% flurry uptime once you get enough crit, and shamanistic rage lets you refill to 100% mana letting you use haste instead of mana pots), but you need enough hit before you can start getting those stats. That being said, enh scales super well and performs better than ele when you reach about T5 levels of gear, since you get enough hit and can have haste/crit synergize. Again, you might not agree with that, but that's what I found as I played from heroics up through T6 in both specs. Ele is godmode in blues and T4 gear, but at T6 you cant match enh DPS.
Yeah. Enhance will have no issues finding guilds. You're pretty much mandatory for the melee groups in your raid, just for your Windfury Totem and Bloodlust. And luckily you deal good DPS as well.
You pretty much want one of each spec in a raid besides rogues. The you go heavy on shamans, lock and hunter.

Im little disappointed you didnt differentiate shamans like you did with other hybrid classes, im no tbc expert but i think resto shaman will be in much higher demand than enh? I personally wanna play draenei ele shaman and i can realistically see it somewhere between A and B in demand, would you agree or not?

I just downloaded this server and made a human warlock, i didn't see a lot of people in the starter area, is there a lot of people on the alliance side?
Plenty ppl get out of the starter areas in like 5mins with 5x experience thats why theyre empty

It's dead in starter zones usually...I see a lot of ppl in stv tho both horde and alliance. And plenty of 70s in the main cities .
Alot ppl playing just get to 60+ lvl takes No time and alot lvl with their main in doungen 😉
I started playing around 1 month ago as orc and durotar was still heavily crowded back then, maybe the server hype died down a bit, but the cities are still swarmed by a lot of people

Ret Paladin should be a B or C, because they apply a 3% crit debuff on the boss, holy and prot can pick up the talent but in a raid setting neither one of those 2 specs want that talent.
It's not a bad idea for a raid to bring an arms warrior for the physical debuff. Inb4 someone says "lol TBC, who brings melee"
A lot of people have been saying that... funny thing is, you won't see a TBC progression guild from back in the day without a melee group. Usually, enh shaman, dps warrior, 1-2 rogues, cat druid or ret paladin.
I just want to play Rogue but I don't think I am gonna be wanted lol. I have started Endless so maybe I can get a fix. Hit me up at Sutures. I could use advice on navigating the super boost leveling speed better.

Rogues are weak for PvE. But they're also the far and beyond best melee for PvP.

he probably meant that a lot of guilds want multiple spriests and there's very few of them so you can safely make an spriest and get a spot, while as boomkin you might not get a spot in raids because the demand is lower so dont bother making one cuz as rare as they are, there's still enough of them for guilds to recruit

Rogue is the best. Paid for my epic flying solo farming chests in dungeons. also you can vanish Teron Gorefiends ghost bullshit. best agro dump in the game. distract helps in Mount Hyjal to allow extra time to recover from last trash pack and bosses. also much needed interupt.

Yeah, despite doing insane DPS and being great at PvP(though in different specs) Warlocks just aren't as common as hunters. I think your list is very accurate.

If you want a raid slot almost guaranteed..roll a shaman simple as.
Boomkin 5% spell crit 3% hit increase to melee and range, and 2% hit debuff to target. Plus top 5 dps....?

My girlfriend wants to do resto shaman and I want to do paladin. All of paladin depending on what I am doing. I just played pally from wrath onwards and played hunter in vanilla and tbc. Looks like I might be healing with her in raids.

He puts ret paladin, which adds 3% crit to the entire raid, 2% dmg to their party and keeps judgements up in D-Tier and you expect a 5% crit buff for your party to push feral to B-tier?
shamans all specs wil lbe the most wanted class you will have at least 5 in every raid.2 enhance 2 ele and a resto.if you want a guaranteed raid spot roll a shaman while everyone will be warlock/hunter and be fighting for raid dps spots.
Feral were great- OT, dps, innervate, and battle Rez made them valuable wild cards.
I topped dps charts all the time as feral in BC

OK so if this is first patch and therefore pre-Arcane nerf, then its completely wrong about Mages. Mages weren't just the top DPS pre-nerf they were the top DPS by massive margins. Pre-nerf Arcane Mages are tier A, pretty solidly in this era.
At the end of the day dont listen to these lists and go with what u feel like would be the most fun for you

U defenitle need a Palatank in Hyal. With a pvivate Healer and a second Paly wo Juges Manasiel the Palatank Tank tanks the Trasch alone.
Why boomkin should be on tier D?
Aside from the aura they give, boomkin also gives 3% hit on their imp FF. And 3% is Huge which means u can swap items which has hit rating and go for more offensive stats. They aint topping the dps meteres like spriest. They are there for imp FF innervate and rebirth.
Debatable. If the boomkin dies then raid dps suffers greatly, or if it's an add fight like Muruu you can't be putting FF on every mob. Double edged sword

spriests don't top meters. If anything, they're at the bottom of the meters. Moonkin will outdps a spriest every day, and twice on sunday.

If shadow priest was unpopular back in TBC....how do we know that will be the case if / when TBC is re-released? With a more sophisticated player base, wouldn't more people think to play it?
Probably not, in classic I main a shadow priest and can’t wait for TBC to main a shadow priest again, just like I did all those years ago. And way back then a shadow priest wasn’t popular to play. Now with that being said, every priest that I know from playing classic has 0 interest in playing a shadow priest in TBC. Either they are changing classes all together (mainly shamen) or staying holy/disc. While this is only about 20-30 people, it gives a good indication. But all my caster guildies can’t wait for me to get some shadow priest love and then become their mana battery. In general shadow priests just aren’t appealing to many people, just like every other class outside of warlock and priest isn’t appealing to me.
This is an appropriate list if you plan on pugging you Za and/or plan on staying in t4. As soon as you understand the need for specific buffs each an every class brings up, this list is out the window.
Also, feel like it's pretty dumb to pit a specific class like holy paly against "shamans". As a raid leader, I would much rather have my boomkin in my group 4 rather than getting another shaman as, like you said, can swap one of my ele/resto sham for an extra bloodlust.

All I really want is a classic-esque version of retail, I want all the classes and races available, with the deliberate and methodical playstyle of classic/tbc.
As it stands, auto-attacks don't matter, current retail is just ability mash gameplay, there's no chess-like ability use.
I want mobs to feel like actual threats, 1v3 should be impossible in pve unless you're a tank with some regen, or have good pet management.
The Lore allows for all the races to have access to all the classes, but there's still so much restriction. Something like Human Shamans, or Pandaren Paladins are in the Lore, but are arrbitrarily excluded. Here's to hoping I'll one day be able to play a holy panda man with a huge hammer.
BS hammers, DST and Abacus with leather heroic/kara/t4 mix gear they hang with rogues in WF group. I'd argue T5 is where they are useless compared to rogues.

Lol, boomkin as D.... yeah, right. Back in the day boomkins were one of the best dps classes next to warlock and elem shaman. Full haste geared boomkin was a mini gun that dealt massive damage + providing mana for healers. During Black Temple/Sunwell Plateau stage each raid had at least 2 boomkins simply for the sake of dps/mana for healers.
My raid had zero balance druids because they did shit dps.
DriftNick seems u have no idea what boomkin power was... they were gearing mage clothes. During Black Temple/Sunwell they were one of the top caster dps classes.
Boomkin is very strong in TBC, I'd take them over another Mage or caster. Competitive DPS, but they also bring the crit aura and the innervate for healers. This isn't like Vanilla when their DPS was subpar 75% of a mage. In TBC they are like 95% DPS of a Mage.
Correction: Boomkin scales the best with gear for casters due to their talents/spells, so late-patch they actually end up like 110% of other caster DPS.
I heard the opposite. Locks in bis were doing like 2700, and boomy was at like 2k.
I see you never played a Boomkin in TBC.

Their dmg is decent as any other caster, but their 3% meele/range hit chance from faerie fire was the big thing (he also gave 3% spell crit)
