Your blanket is spectacularly beautiful!!! The border is perfect - it enhances the blanket without taking away from it. It does look like a beautiful quilt!!! Don't change a thing!! Amazing job, thank you for showing it!!!👏👏👏
This is the most beautiful blanket I've ever seen. Thank you so much for sharing. I will make a smaller version of this during the fall. Feel greatly inspired after your presentation. Greetings from Germany!
Sandra, Your blanket is the most beautiful one that I have ever seen. I downloaded the pattern but I don't think that I will ever get it done. Nothing I will do will ever be as beautiful as yours and I might as well just dream about it. The colors you chose are the ones that I would have chosen, could not be more beautiful. Thank you so much for the opportunity to see what can be accomplished.
Alicia Danowski ahhh thank you!! ☺️ I do hope you give it a whirl though, just because it is such a joyful thing to make and I’m sure you’ll be loving yours just as much in no time once you see all those lovely squares coming together. ☺️❤️
STUNNING! I have tremendously enjoyed your enthusiasm and absolute joy and passion for your Battenberg blanket. You have a great sense of color, and you have much to be proud of! Thank you for taking us along on your journey of happiness.
I know I am very late to said party. That afghan caught my eye the very second I saw it, it does the same for me that it does for you, I find it just so comforting and now I must make one, so I am very grateful that you have put the pattern on line. Thank you so much Tracy
oh wow, this is utter gorgeousness! I now need both a Battenberg blanket and a slice of Battenberg cake. Thanks for sharing such a great pattern and tutorials.
Love battenberg cakes, was in UK in 2000 and my Aunty Betty had a lovely tea set up for us, my highlight of our trip was the cakes. Thank you for sharing the blanket 😘 l have started mine tonight.....thank you so much...l will have lovely memories as well as a lovely blanket. Mary Ann in Arizona🙋
Wonderful blanket 🙌💙 I'm so glad you're crazy enough to make over 1000 squares :) you have wonderful taste in colors and coordination. Thank you for sharing.
I absolutely love your blanket,😁💜♥️💕🥰. So pretty,... I made my first square,.. lol ... I appreciate you sharing your pattern with us,...,... Your awesome,💕😁❤️ Happy Knitting... 👏😁
Your completed cover is absolutely wonderful!! LoVe it SO much! I think the baby Battenberg coasters are adorable! I think people would😮 love the pattern for those as well, if you have the time. Just lovely! I don’t do socks so I’m wondering what the best way to gather the beautiful array of colors you have! I really am drawn to the small solid grannies amid the off white creating the long subsequent design of small openings in line! Brilliant. Hope I can create a smaller version of this. Beautiful design and work.💜🧡💕
Thank you so much! I really loved making this project and I hope you do too. As for yarn, it doesn't have to be sock yarn, you could make this with a different weight yarn if you tend to use other types more and have more left overs. Or if you are set on sock yarn, then minis can be a good way to go!
That is SO beautiful. I love everything about it. The colors you used are gorgeous!! I have to make this. I've never done a blanket with fingering!! Now to find the yarn!
Love the battenburg blanket so much! Granny square blankets intimidate me due to volume and join, but this one is really inspiring for me to make one one day! It looks so beautiful. Thank you for making it a free pattern on Ravelry! Also I love your little baby-burg coasters, would definitely love the pattern for those too! Thank you Sandra!!
I saw this blanket first as a project (I think it was on the craft house magic podcast) and immediately fell in love with it. Although I'm a Knitter and only do crochet very seldomly, this will be a new years cast on for me. It is absolutely stunning!
Oh yes, Ellie's is looking lovely isn't it? Isn't that funny that I made this crochet one because I was so inspired by the knitted versions and you being a knitter are tempted by this one... Got to love those crafty urges! ;) S x
Really pretty, I’ve heard you mention this lovely blanket lots of times and tonight it came up on my feed. So pleased it did and I now have the pattern on my ravelry to do list lol. Thank you xx
This is the most beautiful blanket I have seen all year. I want to say thank you very much. 🙏🏾 You have inspired me which has given me a new purpose. For the first time in a long time I am anxious for Christmas because I am giving myself this project. I cannot wait to get started. Your small squares would also make pretty decorative pot holders.
I have been working on this after finding your TH-cam video about it! I love how fast each square goes and I am using an acrylic yarn for the colorful squares and the yarn melts from one color to the next. For the base color I’m using a gorgeous cashmere merino blend in gray that was a sweater that never was knit. So this is the perfect project. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely blanket with us. It. Is. Beautiful! My sister passed away and left me some of her yarn. I wanted to make blankets from her yarn for myself and 3 other siblings. I wasn’t quite sure what pattern to use or what look I was going for but I love your blanket and can’t wait to get started! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 💕
What a gorgeous, gorgeous afghan! I can't even imagine the hours of work that went into such delicate squares. I would love to make something similar. The weight of yarn you worked with is lovely. It makes the worsted weight I usually work with in the U.S. look coarse and bulky, but I am going to check my bag of leftover bits and see if I can't get started on something like this. Thank you so very much for sharing!
Thank you so much! Yes I wonder how long in hours it did take me?! 🤔 Probably quite a scary number, but then on the other hand, those hours were spent so happily, the more the merrier in some ways. Well I do hope you enjoy your blanket too, I'm sure you'll be able to make something lovely and it's one of those blankets where the process is so much of the pleasure! ❤️
I've been looking at this for weeks, it's absolutely stunning, think I might use my wool stash with a dark grey instead of cream. Love the border, it really works well with the blanket itself. Thank you so much
You are so welcome! I've managed to get the coaster pattern done now too. If you use the link to pop over to the blog post, you'll see the Baby Berg coasters link there. (It's near the bottom.)
Absolutely STUNNING! I remember seeing your start on IG last Christmas and knew this would be a MUST make. Been collecting minis for it. So grateful for the pdf. Downloaded and ready to go!! Happiness....this blanket is sheer happiness 💕
Ohhhh the blanket looks delicious - just like that cake! I had no idea what "Battenberg" meant but now it's clear. :) You did such a fabulous job. I love the tiny size of the squares, the colors, and how the diamond shape holes run in such pretty patterns throughout the blanket.
Hi Sandra, thank you so much for the free tutorials for your wonderful blanket, it’s stunning!!! Caroline @letsjustcrochet very kindly sent me some dear little balls of yarn as a “recuperation “ gift, I toyed with the idea of using them for a striped pair of socks 🧦 (when I’ve learned to knit them!), but I’ve decided they’re destined to be the start of my very own Cherry Heart Battenburg. It’ll take me a while, as I need to collect more yarn, but I’m happy to have it as a long term make. Now I just need to pretend that I’m not really starting AnOthEr project 😘 Hopefully see you soon, big hugs Jo xxx
Jo navin oh thank you!! That was so nice of Caroline, isn’t she a sweetheart? Striped socks are always nice but then a blanket is too! I won’t tell anyone about it being *another* project, promise! 😉😉❤️❤️
This is so so wonderful. I have been looking and failing to find a perfect colour pop for my bedroom for the longest time...: and a stack of left over river washed yarn to use up and now I have the perfect make. You present so well on this video too. Happy Easter break to you. ☺️
It’s beautiful!! Thank you for sharing and for all the inspiration you give us! Yes please on the coaster pattern, these will be great last minute gifts. Thank you and Merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks so much! Oh yes, I had almost forgotten I'd said about the coaster. Luckily you and another lady mentioned it, so I'll get that done and added in v soon. On blocking - no, I didn't bother to block them. I found they looked great once they were joined anyway, it seemed to even everything out just nicely once there are a few together. S x
I'm beginning this blanket now, using my Advent minis from 2023, and maybe some additional scraps. Not going to make it as large as yours, since I just need it for a throw / nap blanket for the couch.
Lovely 🥰 blanket hard work I’ve just finished a blanket c2c squares my design I made 60 squares xx and crocheted around all the squares to make them all the same I love 💕 it it was a challenge to make as I’ve had a stroke and it effected my right hand and my right side glad I did it but I really was pleased I made it xx for me xx to prove to myself that I can still do it xx 😘
Oh my goodness, I love this blanket! I bought the kit for the spice of life blanket from black sheep wool and am about to start that. While looking at your blog and you tube channel for more info I am now gagging at the bit to do this. Thank you so much, so excited to have found you.x
It's beautiful Sandra! I started a scrappy one months ago, with mainly left over sock bits and for the solid squares a muslin color. I plan on getting back to it after Christmas makes are finish and work on it through winter. Thanks for the inspiration!
my mother did a patchwork quilt using 1" squares....the whole quilt was 1'' squares! She called it here Insanity Quilt!! When I saw your Battenberg recently I fell in love with the smaller squares, the solid granny squares (as opposed to the traditional which I don't like), the white inbetween the colours making it less busy and more restful on the eye and the holes creating a hatched pattern. Absolutely stunning!! So I am in the process of making mine out of DK yarn (the squares aren't as small as if knit with fingering but still small enough to be pretty) and will hopefully have it finished for my Mum for Christmas this year! I am a newbie crocheter too. I might start a fingering weight one now as well, with my minis and scraps, for me! :) I love the border and think it suits it perfectly.....the width is just right but could be a tad wider. The little holes mimic the holes in the squares and the picot is very cute but doesn't detract from the quilt or fights for more attention than the quilt.
Oh wow, 1" squares, that's amazing!! Goodness, I bet that looks magnificent. I wish I had the quilting skills to do that, but on the other hand, it does sound little a bit of a 'Insanity" project indeed! 😂 Thanks so much for the lovely words on my quilt, that's so appreciated. I think you've mentioned all my most favourite bits about it too, the white squares, the pattern created by the holes and even the fact that I love that the border is quite plain and simple but that I also pondered making it a smidge wider too. Ha ha - we must be on exactly the same page on this one!! Absolutely a DK will be gorgeous too, still definitely plenty of beautiful little squares and I bet your Mum will be over the moon! Sxx
I love, love, love this granny square blanket ❣️ But, I will have to buy all new yarn 😅 Too new at crochet.. Hope I can duplicate as close as possible! Love edging too..
I have made a baby blanket in tiny grany squares before, but never thought of making one for a bed size. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and blanket with us.
Hi Sandra, thank you so much for this beautiful pattern! I just finished my mini version, it looks wonderful on (half of) the bed. Although it is only halfsize, it is very heavy and warm! Thanks again!!! Greetings from Holland
Hello from Texas! I just happened across your channel and I wanted to say thank you for the patterns. This blanket is really lovely. I’m so happy I’ve found you!
Took me forever to get to this one and when my husband saw me watching he said it looked like I was up to no good😉. I found some sock weight cream yarn and am excited to hunt for the colors. This is genius! Thank you.
I absolutely love the Battenberg blanket; your work is impeccable and your style is stunning. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
This is so beautiful! Definitely a blanket that can be passed down from generation . Looks like a quilt. Stunning!
Your blanket is spectacularly beautiful!!! The border is perfect - it enhances the blanket without taking away from it. It does look like a beautiful quilt!!! Don't change a thing!! Amazing job, thank you for showing it!!!👏👏👏

It’s such a lovely blanket, and I feel that I can appreciate the beautiful colors of the squares more when my eyes can “rest” between the squares.
Yes, that's what I felt too! Thank you! ❤️
You inspire me to use lots of colors! I love that about your blankets. This one came out so gorgeous! Congratulations.
Very beautiful afghan. Looks like a quilt. Very pretty!
I’m late to the party but this is fabulous and it’s my 2023 project

Such a lovely blanket. The edging sets off the beautiful squares perfectly. It is obvious that alot of love was put into making it. What a joy to see!

Reminds me of one of my grandmothers old quilts. The cotton is pulling apart in a couple of places, so I no longer use it... Lots of memories.
Hi Sandra. This blanket is so gorgeous. I love it xx
I really love this blanket! Thank you!
