Moved here in 2021 from 10 acres in Southwest Washington to less than a 1/4 acre in CDA area, but I would live in a wall tent in the Idaho Mountains in the middle of winter before moving back. At least we're surrounded and supported by like minded people. Idaho natives are salt of the earth people and I will forever be grateful for them holding strong to solid values and protecting what is important in life. May God forever bless Idaho!
Thanks for this video and the good news, I'm so happy to hear that many of the California transplants are heading back. Maybe if we get a really cold and snowy winter (hopefully worse than 2017), the ones only thinking about leaving will actually go, and you can get all of their listings! Maybe this trend will help the younger folks here, who've been priced out by the out-of-state transplants. I also can't help but mention that many of those leaving have probably had enough of Ada County Highway District (ACHD) and their project management malpractice. Thanks for the video and all that you do!
@Livinginboiseidaho-candid Ya no kidding. I just had a neighbor move back to Phoenix, and I couldn't grasp their rationale. Enjoy the 117 degree summers. Lol
@medic1937 The heatwave they had this year sounded just unbearable! We have several clients who are currently working on getting out of Arizona as soon as possible. I definitely couldn’t live with that heat - I’ll take our four seasons all day long!
I listened to this video as I am moving back from CDA to Arizona. I moved to the area for a job and had spent a year and a half in the area. When it didn’t work out with my job I ultimately decided to move because I found the job market to be quite lacking for someone who works in tech. I did also miss my family in AZ. As someone who never grew up with seasons, I was enthralled to see the leaves change color and the snow. CDA just seems like a place to retreat if you can afford it but wasn’t the place for me as a younger adult still making my way
Thank you for watching and commenting! And sorry to hear that CDA ultimately wasn’t a fit. The housing prices up there & just overall heightened cost of living have increasingly made it a pretty hard place for many to call “home”. I’m sure your family is looking forward to having you back in Arizona with them. Safe travels & good luck on your next chapter.🙂
You should be jumping for joy with them leaving. They usually bring with them their Liberal ways and voting. That would eventually negative effect every aspect of your conservative ways. We in Colorado experienced the same drastic increase in property values in the Denver area and the Colorado Springs area by the same percentages. My home insurance double, taxes went up with the increase values. Unfortunately, many Californians migrated here as well with their same ideologies which made Colorado a very difficult place to tolerate. Then with the increase in everything else made things even more difficult. It is difficult to find a place that hasn't been invaded by Liberals. I myself just wanting a State to live in free from Liberal agendas more than everything else.
Ada County Idaho, where Boise is located, is becoming more conservative due to CA residents and others, particularly from the West Coast states. 2016 Trump 42% of the vote, 2020 Trump 50% of the vote, 2024 Trump 53% of the vote.
@@karbearmama73100%, democrats still won elections in this state when I was a kid but the party affiliation didn’t matter that much back then (you still see that with longtime residents where they’re more interested in the person than the R of D). It’s seems to be really just the transplants that are super into politics and way more conservative than any of the folks born and raised here are.
Minor correction on Idaho being “landlocked”; while it most certainly is, it also has the farthest inland Pacific port west of the Mississippi on the Snake River in Lewiston! Container ships make routine visits and drop off cargo for everything from Costco to the infamous paper plant haha
What a joy to discover I was an Idaho girl trapped in California. I am doing whatever I can to assimilate and maintain the beautiful Idaho way of life!
Thanks. I always appreciate your messages. I think you're spot on. I'm in California - retiring next month - and had planned to move to the Eagle area to be closer to my folks who live there and also because I am tired of the progressive political climate here. But - because my kids and grandkids are probably going to follow us where ever we move - we've now decided against Idaho only because it's now so un-affordable for my kids. A 60% price increase in just a few years is also very scary. Personally - I think it's going to come down to more reasonable levels in a few years because it's so un-affordable based upon the average wages in the area. But I don't think it'll be corrected before I make my move. It'll be interesting to watch.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to contribute, we appreciate it! And sorry to hear that Idaho is off your list due to housing prices, but we certainly understand and w have definitely heard that several times over the past year by other hopeful retirees who are looking to relocate. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement and best of luck on your next chapter!
Thanks for the comment, and actually I was recently talking with a friend up in Montana (who is also an agent) and she told me but they are seeing some former Californians pack up and move back. She said that the winters and politics are the two main reasons she has heard about… so it sounds like it could be a similar deal all around.🤷♀️
@@Livinginboiseidaho-candid YES!!!! I live in Montana and we already have our share of liberal politics without all of the influx of Californians to add to the looniness. We need for all of them to move back NOW. I hope we have such a cruel winter here that they decide to pack up and move. Those of us who live here wouldn't be phased by a harsh winter since we are used to it so it's a win win for everyone around.
@Livinginboiseidaho-candid as California refugee who fled California for Montana I'm pleased to hear some Californians are leaving. They are the kind Montana and Idaho don't need. Keep our two states red.
As a Christian man that left California and moved to idaho for conservative values and freedom in 2001 that paying people with skilled labor at 9.50 a hr to 13.50 per hr and starving them to death wasn't a conservative value . I worked for the City Of Nampa as a industrial maintenance mechanic with 13 yrs of welding and fabrication experience and was paid a whopping 13.50 per hr. While the city is raking in millions of dollars it continues to pay their workers now for that same position 17.50 . I ve seen electricians for the city get offered 17.00 per hr in todays market, . I left since the whole state is like that and still is , man if i could have been making 17.00 per hr. in idaho in 2003 i would be considered rich . If you want to be poor , move to a red state
Thank you for the comment and all of that information! If saddens me that so many of our skilled laborers haven been/aren’t being paid adequately. I’m sorry that was your experience.
I moved to idaho from California in 2005 My experience here has been nothing short of a complete hate crime, My grandparents are from here, my Mom is from here I have experienced so much hate ,persecution, Slander even attempted murder all because I am from California Shame on you , who would think that hating and destroying someone's life could be so much fun.
Yowzer - I’m sorry to hear about your experience. It’s unlike any experience we’ve ever heard of. Would you mind elaborating a bit? I’m curious - and I’m sure other viewers would appreciate your input.
In answer to your question--as one of a few finalists on our relocation list, Boise's job market is important to us. While we wont be looking ourselves, a strong job market and a strong local economy have tangible impacts on the quality of schools and infrastructure, and it helps promote the development of small local business. It also keeps crime low. For those reasons it would be a concern if we saw Boise's economy start to stagnate.
Thank you for the comment! And fair enough, that absolutely makes sense on our end. we would definitely feel the same way. If you have any specific questions or we can help in anyway, please don’t hesitate to give us a call (208)-598-3040.
Thanks for the reply. You'll be hearing from us eventually probably but we wont be ready for a scouting trip for a little while. We find your videos very helpful--thanks for making and posting them.
@JKTrails-34 No pressure at all on our end. If/when you decide to come check out the Treasure Valley, we will be here! 🙂 And we’re glad that you’ve found our channel helpful - mission accomplished! 🙌
Thanks for the comment! We were curious if this year after the hurricane season you all endured if we’d start hearing about more people looking to leave Florida. At one point we thought that we had heard people were returning to California from Florida, but it sounds like that’s not the case?
Still looks like a good deal on housing in Idaho. My very average home in San Diego cost us $560k in 2015 and is now worth $1.1 million. That's a 96.4% increase.
A 96.4% increase - Wowzer! Thanks for contributing! Capitalizing on equity and moving to a state with lower housing prices and a more conservative government are the two main reasons we’re hearing from current Californians looking to become Idahoans. Appreciate the comment!
Curious where in Utah you guys have seen the most Californians (and other out-of-state relocators) flock to? I’m guessing Salt Lake City & West Valley but I’m curious?
@Livinginboiseidaho-candid Pretty State wide really. Lots in the Salt Lake Valley. Housing prices have sky rocketed here as well. Resources, mainly water are really getting pressured as well. We have always been the 2nd driest State in the nation but the housing explosion has taken that to near critical.
@Livinginboiseidaho-candid We all could be better....but we have always had the same amount of water. It fluctuates from year to year but it always has. What's changed is how many people are using it now. Hoping for a good winter!
@Hrothgar13 That makes sense! The growth we have seen here in Idaho has definitely been hard on some of our resources as well. Here’s hoping we all have great winters!
My great great grandfather immigrated to Texas in 1854. The other side of my family had roots to Ca. but moved to Texas after WWII. I even lived in Newport Beach, Ca. for 10 yrs. before heading back to Texas. I was forced out of Texas 25 yrs. ago due to people moving there from mostly the "rust belt". I got out before the influx of Californians. I found Idaho to be much like the Texas I grew up in & felt right at home. Having experienced Californians attempting to change Texas & looking at what Ca. has become with high taxes, homeless, & a welfare state, anyone that can't leave their old lifestyle behind when they move to Idaho should stay put. Every winter when it gets down to zero & I have to blow snow every other day I just think about how much Californians are going to hate our winters. They should try moving to Portland or Seattle, they will fit right in.
Thank you for watching & the comment! And we agree, the biggest frustration most Idahoans have with the influx people we have moving here is when they arrive and then try to change Idaho into what they left. Let’s not turn it into the state you felt you had to flee from, right?! Thanks for the comment.🙂
@@JKTrails-34 , that's an interesting thought. I live in Southern California and love the racial and ethnic diversity here. It would feel strange to live somewhere homogenous.
Most of the people who are relocating here now are moving for the same reason! If we can answer any questions or help in any way, please give us a shout: 208-598-3040
As a California refugge who moved to Montana, we will never go back. And the liberal Californians who moved here and to Idaho should go back. Keep our states red
My guess is the loving conservative native Idahoan's are glad to see the Californians leave and take their progressive ideas with them. Keep Idaho, Idaho. Don't Californicate our Idaho.
Thank you for the comment! And you’re absolutely spot-on. It’s still difficult for us to fathom some people who moved into Idaho from California and said they were so glad to be leaving - but then (once settled) immediately wanted to turn it into what they fled from… what!!? WHY?!🤷♀️
The over development in Meridian, Eagle, Star, and Nampa is out of control. Developers are building on every square inch of land available, and local governments are letting developers do whatever they want. While Californians may be leaving Idaho, California is still coming to Idaho in terms of over development.
Just one observation. People who move to Idaho during COVID, then move back to CA 3 or 4 years later, are not a normal cross section of humanity in either state. These folks can afford to make frivolous decisions like this, including the associated costs of moving on either end. Thus, their given reasons for leaving Idaho are equally frivolous. They don't like the weather? They don't like the conservative culture? They thought they could work remotely for the rest of their lives? What did you expect? Give me a break. Most people would make more serious decisions than this if money was much of a barrier to their whimsical lifestyle.
You bring up an interesting point about the unique circumstances that motivated people to move here during the pandemic - only to move back a few years later. It’s true that this group doesn't necessarily represent the "average" resident of Idaho or California, especially since, as you said, they typically had the financial flexibility to make the move in the first place. And you’re right-their reasons for relocating (like weather, political stance or culture) may seem a bit like "Um, did you do any research on IDAHO before moving here!?" That all said, I think it’s worth noting that the pandemic really changed how many people viewed work and lifestyle priorities. Remote work was new for many, and I think that some truly thought it would be a permanent shift. Others, with remote work as a real possibility, wanted to test out life in a different place with a slower pace or a different environment. While it might seem frivolous to uproot just to "try something out," I think a lot of people genuinely believed they could make it work long-term. Ultimately, I see these moves as part of a larger trend of people exploring what they want out of life-whether that's career flexibility, different community vibes or even just a new climate. For some, it didn’t pan out as expected, and I agree that for most, it’s not an easy option financially. Still, it’s a fascinating glimpse into how people’s values and assumptions about “where home should be” have evolved recently. Thanks for sharing your perspective-it’s a thoughtful point!
@@Livinginboiseidaho-candid I appreciate your reply, and in fact, it made me think again about what i had written and why I had written it. I have a bias, based on where I live in the hills of the East Bay of San Francisco, and many of my friends and acquaintances here do fit a stereotype; seeing more socially/politically conservative people as somehow less than themselves. I brought that bias into what I wrote, and judged those people for their decisions, which is doing exactly the same thing I was criticizing them about. Well, I don't know those people, and so I can't know whether they actually anticipated that the weather, or the culture, might be difficult for them to adapt to, and then once they they experienced what they anticipated, found they didn't like it. At least they had the courage to try in the first place, and perhaps they've gained some perspective on the life they returned to as a result. In any event, I'm glad you pointed all this out to me. It is still true, however, that you need to have the money to hop around like this, but if you do have the money, why not give it a try? I would have done it differently myself, but hey, what I would do isn't necessarily what everyone else should do. So, thanks again
Hey beautiful lady! Its been MONTHS since you guys popped up in my feed! Hope you guys got out to Vote this crap out 😛🇺🇸. Cheers! Keep new content comin.
Idaho is a great place to Retire and Relax. It's beautiful and bountiful. It's a Conservative State that believes in The Constitution. No Liberals wanted.
Rate of pay is still terribly low, benefits are lacking while housing is as expensive as Washington and Oregon. If you want to be in a bright red state with awful restrictions on women’s health, and lack of representation… Idaho is for you.
A quarter of all obgyns left Idaho due to the extreme abortion ban. If you have a non-viable pregnancy and need medical care- good luck. Doctors afraid they'll go to jail.
Southern Idaho = Mormons Central Idhao = Skiiers / Snowboarders / Rastas Northern Idaho= Calif retired govt workers / Calif retired bucks up people. Big pro 2nd amendment folks all around
Interesting observation, thanks for the comment! I would like to point out though that we live in South Idaho, and we are definitely not Mormon. That said, there definitely is a large LDS population here in Boise’s surrounding Treasure Valley (as well as across Idaho). And you’re absolutely correct that here in Idaho we’re big on both the 2nd (& 1st) amendment. Thanks for watching & taking the time to contribute!
It takes 3 N. Idaho Winters to acclimate to a real 4 season environment. If you can’t handle it after that, please leave. I do not want to listen to your whining. 😂
Thanks for watching and contributing! And your sentiment rings true! My sister lives in Sandpoint Idaho, and they absolutely love it - but it did take them several winters to fully adjust.
We post videos about all kinds of topics - and most of which are city and community tours. We also find it interesting to sometimes also film topics that we’re talking about on a daily basis with our clients (such as this one).
Based on the recent national election, California is moving in the red direction. It's now a purple state. One day it may be red again, but I'm not waiting around to find out.
@@Livinginboiseidaho-candid Sharing something from experience of many others in California, including mine own. I was lucky to live in many places in the US and abroad. The truth is simple, CA is more expensive, and to a high degree it means one can earn more, as everything is valued more. Handyman makes double in CA than in many 'lower cost' states and so on. Moving because people around are 'progressive' is the most stupid argument I've ever heard. I do not see any 'progressive' or 'non-progressive'. Most of people I know even never voted and that is their informed decision to actively not vote. Are they progressive or not? CA is a mix of very different people, like in most places in the world. Maybe more mixed and mmore intense in CA in some respects. So many negativities spread all over about how bad it is in CA and how happy people are finally when they moved out, means that they just couldn't do it. That's fine, life is like that. People who are not 'happy' in California are usually those characters that are not happy anywhere, but now they need to justify their decisions. Bottom line, CA offers so much in many directions, but it has a price. If price is too high, perfect, move to Idaho and be happy. Just be happy and do not hate CA, and people living in CA, they are not different from others.
Welcome to Idaho & thank you for the comment! We aren’t seeing huge influx of people moving here from the New England area, that said we have friends who moved here from the East Coast, as well as several neighbors & I actually went to high school in northern Massachusetts.

Let’s not turn it into the state you felt you had to flee from, right?! Thanks for the comment.🙂
Curious whether any of those considering leaving ID mentioned a lack of racial/cultural diversity?
Thank you for watching and great question! And actually, no - that has not come up, but I truly do appreciate the question!
Thats good to hear, thanks for the reply.
@@JKTrails-34 , that's an interesting thought. I live in Southern California and love the racial and ethnic diversity here. It would feel strange to live somewhere homogenous.
I find it hard to believe anyone would move back to CA, maybe they miss Gruesome Newsome?
Haha! Good one! 🙌🇺🇸
Quite the opposite for me - we are relocating from CO because of the political environment here and our desire to be in a conservative state
Most of the people who are relocating here now are moving for the same reason! If we can answer any questions or help in any way, please give us a shout: 208-598-3040
Buh Bye. Don't let the door hit ya ...
Idaho, oh no!!
Haha! Gotta appreciate that it also rhymes.
As a California refugge who moved to Montana, we will never go back. And the liberal Californians who moved here and to Idaho should go back. Keep our states red
Thanks for watching and contributing! And glad to hear you're loving Montana - it's one of our other favorite states. 🙂
Goodbye
Take a friend with you
No vacancy
Not too many are - but some are!
WHY?!🤷♀️
What a stupid statement.
@@hanamanova5514 How so?
The over development in Meridian, Eagle, Star, and Nampa is out of control. Developers are building on every square inch of land available, and local governments are letting developers do whatever they want. While Californians may be leaving Idaho, California is still coming to Idaho in terms of over development.
Thank you for the comment, and I agree in full.
And you’re right-their reasons for relocating (like weather, political stance or culture) may seem a bit like "Um, did you do any research on IDAHO before moving here!?"
That all said, I think it’s worth noting that the pandemic really changed how many people viewed work and lifestyle priorities.
Hey there! Good to hear from you! We will be voting Monday bright and early! 🇺🇸 ❤️🇺🇸💙🇺🇸
@ ohhh yes!
Idaho is a great place to Retire and Relax. It's beautiful and bountiful. It's a Conservative State that believes in The Constitution. No Liberals wanted.
Idaho is indeed a fantastic place for retirement and relaxation! 🙌🙏
Rate of pay is still terribly low, benefits are lacking while housing is as expensive as Washington and Oregon. If you want to be in a bright red state with awful restrictions on women’s health, and lack of representation… Idaho is for you.
Thanks for watching! And yes, Idaho is definitely a very conservative state where we take both the 1st and 2nd amendment seriously.
@@RowdyGrandma If Liberal Democrats don't like it and don't want it, it's for me. You can have your Liberal States and Cities. I don't want that....
@ good on ya mate
A quarter of all obgyns left Idaho due to the extreme abortion ban. If you have a non-viable pregnancy and need medical care- good luck. Doctors afraid they'll go to jail.
That did absolutely happen. Thanks for the comment!
God will bless Idaho in abundance! You do not realize what you are saying when you advance a culture of death. It is an abomination. 😢
Southern Idaho = Mormons
Central Idhao = Skiiers / Snowboarders / Rastas
Northern Idaho= Calif retired govt workers / Calif retired bucks up people.
Could they be stupid?
Hmm… for those who are moving BACK (possibly… 🤷♀️)… That said, when family comes into play - well, I’ll never call those people stupid.
How about less talk about California and more posting actual videos of homes and communities in Idaho? Cut the fluff!
Thank you for the comment, truly appreciate it! Where exactly in California are you considering moving here from?
😂😂😂😂😂
California rules and if you can live there by your means you'll never leave it.
Thanks for the comment, you’re the first person who has ever shared this sentiment - thank you for taking the time to do so.
@@hanamanova5514 They all voted whether they know they did or not.
Moved here from MA a few months ago. I haven’t seen anyone from the northeast as yet….
Welcome to Idaho & thank you for the comment! We aren’t seeing huge influx of people moving here from the New England area, that said we have friends who moved here from the East Coast, as well as several neighbors & I actually went to high school in northern Massachusetts.
