I've used the permatex brand several times. It actually completely seals around the chip, and then it applies a vacuum to the area to pull the air out before the syringe applies positive pressure to get the resin in. This rain xkit really doesn't have those features, and that's probably why it doesn't make the chip invisible like what i'm used to.

Almost identical crack to mine, with identical result. I wonder if there any tricks for a better result

Unfortunately I ended up getting another crack from a dump truck which spread causing me to replace the whole windshield. Got me on the edge unfortunately.

How has this held up? Did any cracks expand since applying this?

It held up pretty well. Unfortunately i did end up replacing the windshield a year later as a rock chipped the edge of the windshield and created a spider crack.

@@MobileCarMechanic thanks. I just used this and was curious as with Safelite it costs $750 for aftermarket and $1,530 for OEM windshield.

Safelite is too expensive, I used a local guy off Facebook Marketplace for 250 for my GTI, Safelite wanted 500 for aftermarket and almost 1,000 for OEM which cracks easily. The install from Facebook did an amazing job! was skeptical at first but seeing the finished product i was in awe. imgur.com/a/Hkjhhn6

It will take longer to dry, so if you have a garage or covered space that would be ideal.
