You are one of the few that actually take pride in keeping your nails healthy by not cutting or over filing like most salons do. I wish every nail tech cared this much. I’ve also learned a lot about how to properly care for your nails. Thank you!
Goodness! I have ruined my nails and cuticles. Digging. Cutting. Aggressive and destructive techniques on my part. Your tutorials are going to save my nail health.
Finally someone who treats the cuticles as they should be. I’m a qualified beauty therapist and nail technician with 30+ years experience and I have never cut anyone’s cuticles. I’ve seen some terrible damage caused by “professionals”. I am so pleased you mentioned foot cream for the hands. I thought I was the only one using it on my hands! I’ve not tried Kerasal but will give that a go. I love your videos. 🥰😘
I know this video is a year old, but this is the first time I have seen this condition addressed, and a clear and concise solution for fixing it. I am never cutting my cuticles again. I used this method for the first time and I already see results. Thank you!
I have tried before to research my “condition” of hyper-growing cuticles, and this is the first time I see it addressed properly and thoroughly. Thank you!!
I have the exact problems you were talking about and never knew how to fix them. I can't believe how much I learned from you in just the first 7 minutes. Thank you so much!
I was worried with my cuticles cutter...now I will throw it away! I really love how simple you make this process so simple to do and that you recommend products that are easily accessible and budget friendly. Also, props to your man helping you doing the stuff you love.
Forgot to mention….OMG the kerasal foot cream used around you nails and prox nail fold is amazing! It’s getting rid of all that messiness on my skin area around my nails. My hands spend too much time in water washing them with the kitties, so it suffers. Getting better since using OPI oil and hand and nail creams.
Omg this has been sooooo helpful!! I recently started working at a mens nail spa, and so many men come in with insane cuticles. I'm now realizing its been taking me forever to clean their cuticles because I was over pushing! And I've never been too happy with how they look because it just looked dry and so much excess skin. This just gave me another boost of confidence! I was getting worried I just suck as a nail tech 🤣 we all learn and start somewhere
Hello :) I'm glad my video helped. But it's not the cuticles but the skin around their nails is just dry and probably stretched. Not cuticle. Cuticle is the thin film on the nail that is barely visible. Guys usually are pretty straightforward are very understanding, great clients. I just tell them that this is skin (living skin) around their nails that is dry and stretched because it's been stuck to the nails. If they want their hands look nice they need to nudge that skin back every couple of days and use ointment like Kerasal at night. You do not suck as a nail tech :) We expect too much from ourselves. We can't fix lack of care. Also suggesting balm like Burt's Bees after hand washing usually works for guys. Usually they are not into using anything in nail polish bottle ;) Unless you are MSL (Mr. Salon Life)
PS. And yes, we all learn and start somewhere. I'm still learning too and I just share what I learn with the world. As well as what works for me and what doesn't I'm super happy my video helped someone :)
Excellent, again, no chatter, clear background info, real life examples!! If someone is trying to economize, on my heels I use Cerave SA lotion (has 4% salicylic acid, almost as much as Kerasal) , then I put a little bit of petrolatum (Vasiline) on top. Get the petrolatum in a tube so you're not sticking your fingers in a tub when you have other products on your fingers. Going to give the Eucerin a try!!
thank you so much for your videos!! I've just realized I've been pushing back the skin waaaay too aggressively. and i have a bad habit of scraping the cuticle off while it's dry 🙈🙈 i usually have a lot of flakiness and it gets me 😑 I've known about the healthy nail care routine and about Doug Schoon for about 7 years now, but it's always been a back and forth process for me. most of the time I'm motivated to moisturize and be gentle and it's great. sometimes i just don't care and everything gets dry and i get hangnails and even cut the skin, knowing well it's bad. i love how you always can find something new, learn another technique or new tips :) even if the basics are rather simple. never hurts to revisit them! it's very inspiring to keep going ♥️
This was so helpful!! I’ve thrown out cuticle removers because they didn’t seem to do any good. Now I understand that it’s a process and may take several manicures to see the full results. Love your voices, explanations, and the demonstrations. Well done!
These videos on cuticle care are amazing. I've been cutting my PNF for more than 20 years! I'm going to try this technique and see if I can restore that area. I don't cut the PNF on my toes and they look so much better - you think I would have put it together. Thank you!
Thank you for being very specific about the different areas of the nails. Thank you for giving visuals and explaining the importance of different areas. I never knew about under the cuticle, etc. Thank you for this wonderful education. My nails will have a happy life because of you! 💗⭐
Thank you so much for this informative video, you've got yourself another subscriber. I'm studying for my state board exam to obtain my license in cosmetology and I really want to learn about nail care specifically to help my husband out. I was taught the basics in manicuring so that I can simply get my license but it feels so empty. Yea we learned about nail diseases and health conditions and what not but promoting health and assisting in the healing process is exactly what I want to learn. I really want to help my clients maintain healthy nails because I've noticed so many people (usually of really older age) get hesitant when their nails begin to ache and it prevents them from enjoying certain activities. Nails are such a sensitive area! Thanks to these videos I also learn what to look for in products and which ones to buy. I love that you showed alternative methods to address certain things that still leave you with the desired results. Again, thank you very much for this. I can only hope to continue to grow further as a cosmetologist. Wish me luck on my state board exam in April 2023.
Thank you for explaining the cuticle vs the skin. I was an extreme nail and cuticle biter and after watching this video and using these methods especially how to remove the cuticle instead of cutting the entire skin part that most nail technicians always do. I now have beautiful healthy nails. My skin around the nail bed is still inflamed from years of biting but it’s getting better and better Thank you 🙏🏻 .
I’m so happy to have come across this video, I feel like it’s helped me with months of research on managing my cuticle health, but within a matter of minutes, and it makes sooo much sense! Really helpful, thank you so much for this type of advice❤
Thank you so much for caring for all of us "out here" surfing on You Tube. I'll be looking for the Kerastol and Blue Cross products in local stores before Amazon, but if I have to send for them, I will. Thanks again!
LOL--I just picked up the Kerasil yesterday, before seeing this video. Can't wait to try it. Another great (and cheap) tip for keeping your feet moisturized--it will sound crazy, but this works: Putting Vick's Vapor Rub (or a store brand) on your feet. It's what hospitals and nursing homes use for their long-term patients, whose feet get super dry from being in socks (or sheets) all day. Bonus: Something in it also prevents fungus growth. I use it once a week, but it's greasy and messy. That's why I usually put it on before bed, throw some ugly fluffy socks over it, and then go to sleep. Get up in the morning and wash my feet well. Done. I'm hoping the Kerasil will be less fuss and muss.
Very helpful! I been saying that for years!! Push them back and moisturize, try not to cut. I only cut the tiny little pieces that are sticking up (and only dead skin) never the whole fold. My husband’s nails were awful, but just after a few manis they are so much more manageable! He was a nail biter and I noticed it was the dry skin he was after, not the nail. So it made the area around his nails even more callused. Now when I see him trying to bite, I know he needs a mani! Lol. I’ve been pushing my proximal fold back for about 27 years now and I hardly have any cuticle or fold at all now! I also use cuticle oil at least once a day. Thanks for an informative video! Great job!!
I’m excited to try this! My cuticles are pretty gross and the thought of cutting them scares me because I don’t know if it would hurt or not. (I have low pain tolerance) Glad to know that there’s another option!
I've already taken my first round of pictures. Glad to learn that this requires training the proximal nail fold to behave itself, because I've already tried this a couple of times and the skin just spreads right out over the nail again within days.
Thank you! I was looking for this information for years. My fold was cut so deeply at my last appointment I don’t want to go back. I’m never letting anyone cut it again. I’m doing my own nails for good now.
Oh the amount of slack I get for not cutting that skin. Especially on the recent video I did. th-cam.com/users/shortsKhiNmC4o90M?feature=share Most of them rude. No wonder many people skip going to salons if some nail techs are that aggressive and that rude.
Seriously... I've pretty much given up trying to go to salons. So aggressive and careless. The latest one I went to claimed she's "always gentle" and then proceeded to buff off the top layer of my natural nails for no good reason and refusing to use ridge filler instead saying it wouldn't look good... What's the point of temporarily looking good if it means damaging my poor already damaged nails? 🥺
This is so amazing, I have been struggling with how to fix this for forever. Never could find anything helpful online that wasn't just cutting them off, which felt like it wasn't a good long term solution. Trying this next time I do my own manicure!
Thats awesome! I’m glad that the video helped! Please take pictures of your nails. I would love to see your progress! Here is a newer video, I think it will help: Cuticle Removal: How to Use Blue Cross Cuticle Remover [Product Spotlight] th-cam.com/video/d_BAnJlJ1Bs/w-d-xo.html
@@TheSalonLife I will definitely send progress pics! I'm already seeing some great progress but it will probably be a few more weeks of the routine until I reach the results I'm looking for! Really happy with how quick I'm seeing the proximal fold recede, you are a life saver!!
For the salon I would purchase disposable doe foot applicators and place the product in a dappen dish with the dropper- couple drops, one disposable doe foot and done. Thank you for posting this pushing and cutting the cuticle is so difficult and I did see my cuticles getting thicker like you mentioned. Super helpful, great video.
this is so helpful! I've always been self conscious about my nails/cuticles as I tend to pick at them when I'm nervous/stressed - so they are stretched and sticking up in most places. I've never known how to care for them, most people I knew just had nice cuticles already! I'm excited to take these cuticle care steps so I'll feel better about how they look. Hoping to get them looking nice in a few weeks and maybe I won't feel the need to mess with them so much :)
Exactly! If the skin around the nails is smooth and healthy there is nothing to pick. If the skin around your nails is hard then I suggest urea based cream at night. I use tiny bit of Kerasal at night. You use a tiny bit, it lasts forever Here is a link: amzn.to/3dy31F7
Wow! Thank you! 😅 I'll be doing all this asap to FINALLY solve this problem. My mum also said she did a course for nail care and they cut her cuticles and they've been overgrown ever since. What a good job they did! 🙄 I'll show her this as well 😊💖
Thanks for the education, as I thought my cuticles were the skin that I religiously cut away! I will never do that again and will follow your advice for sure! I’m actually using coconut oil and it’s working to soften those areas and repair my nails.
Anna, you have radically changed how I treat my nails 🥰. Does this mean I’ve been radicalized by TH-cam? 🤣 But seriously-these videos are excellent. So informative and you make it fun & entertaining. I really enjoy all of your content ♥️
Hi Kim, thank you so so very much! You honestly made my day!! I'm so happy that I'm putting something positive and useful to the world! Thank you !!! 💕 💕 💕
doing a beauty therapy course atm and I wanted to learn more about nails myself and I found this video so helpful, gonna be watching more videos from you now 😄
I have learned so much from your videos so I decided to join your Patreon today after I donated to the dog charity. I wish I could give more, maybe when I am working again. Thank you for all your content.
Your comment was the first thing I read when I woke up this morning! Honestly made my day! Thank you so very much for your kind comments and your support!! I received both :) And Patreon 💕.
I am relieved that I chose to watch your video first, as cutting didn't appeal to me. I learned a lot about the structure and thank you for sharing and the product recommendations.
So satisfying! I’m new to your channel and love how you mentioned foot care!! I’m 62 and been using creams and lotions on my feet for over 40 years and have very soft smooth feet.
Thankyou so much for this explanation! I recently had Russian manicures that filed away the excess proximal fold skin and it just grew back. I'm going to take a break from salon manicures while I address the excess skin with moisture and gentle pushing back consistently and then just do my nails at home. It will be much better for me to just maintain it myself.
Wonderfully presented information! I will take pictures and let you know how things are working out. My folds are grow very long and I have always pushed and cut them. I hope I can get them looking nice, my nails are nice.
You are so through about how to take care of our nails and I thank you so much for sharing. I have ordered some of the products and I already have a couple but were using them differently. My nails are looking better and I am trying to remember to apply oil before swimming as I can tell it really helps. I have received my D D nail polish and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am with this polish! I am so glad I watched the first video showing it. Thanks 😊
Loved this! I think I’m too rough and as soon my skin gets a bit dry then I’m picking and tearing up the skin around my nails. Trying to break that habit and also be more gentle. What clear polish do you use on yourself and how often do you change it?
Thank you Stephanie! I have 3 nail brighteners I’m alternating. They are listed in the description box under the video. I do my nails every week. I should do a video of me doing my nails. :) Maybe TH-cam live and I can answer questions live?
@@TheSalonLife thank you! I looked in the description box but “brightener” didn’t even occur to me that that’s what I was looking for. Yes,please do a video of you doing your own nails! That would be great!
OMG, thank you for the explanation on cuticles... I just cut them yesterday, it does not feel good. Bought some jojoba oil as recommended and will follow a weekly regiment with pushing them back. Thank you again, life saving! :-)
Well, you cut your living skin then, not cuticle. It's so important to know the difference because then you will exactly know what to do. Your nails look very healthy and strong. Thanks for sharing some great tips. I've been you tubing to learn ways to care for my cuticles and you helped a lot very informative. I'll try CeraVe lotion.
So true I've tried three different ways to do my cuticles and I always go back to my school days of cosmetology even though I didn't get to complete it cause the school I was going to stopped my classes and I had one semester left made good grades and showed up that was the only chance I had at cosmetology school had no other way to even go to another one cause I'm from a very small town in the country so much for my big dreams but yes it works and love the hand wax after a mannie cure but that's just from Maggie's opinion God bless us all
Exactly. The more gentle the better. Less risk of bacterial infection too. You can have the cleanest tools ever but when you create a micro trauma and touch dirty surfaces when you leave the salon god knows what you can pick up.
Thank you for this information. I recently took a course in russian mani and a week later i found out about Doug Schoon's research and felt disheartened, and sad about the money i spent on a misleading course and tools. This video made me feel better about the fact that I can make better mani without cutting PNF and have it all look beautiful, thank you
Hello Cielo! Look at it as gaining experience! And learning what not to do ;) Clients need to understand that they need to do some maintenance between visits. Just like flossing and brushing teeth between dentist visits, they should use cream/oil daily and push back the skin around the nails weekly. You can still use the file safely, I explained it a bit in my recent LIVE too. Check it out :) th-cam.com/video/JubO3D1QFdA/w-d-xo.html
Hi I m learning Beauty course nowadays, just few hours back I heart a customer by distraction of my mine and my eyes by cuticle cutter I feel so embarrassed, and I scared to that I can't get work now, but still I hope and this video help me out for optional of cuticle care without cutting in salons
Mistakes happen to all of us. Just keep practicing and be comfortable with saying no :) If a client ask for something you are not comfortable doing just say “I’m not comfortable doing this at this time” or if it’s something you shouldn’t be doing (like cutting living skin) you can always say “in my professional opinion living skin should not be cut (show them the living skin) so i can’t cut it” Practice as much as you can to build confidence. Confidence comes with time and practice. Good luck!
Gentle care, avoid harsh soaps and soaking your hands in water. After each hand wash apply light lotion like Cerave Moisturising lotion and dab of oil on each nail. Then at night urea based cream and vaseline on each nail. Constant care and protection of the skin is the only way to go. Skin gets softer when its protected. It gets harder and callused when it's abraded, cut, picked at and abused.
Excellent information, I already use some of these products, but will include a few more, and the way you recommend using them. Your own fingernails are the best advertising! 😊
Thank you so much for a very educational video 🤗 there is a lot of great points in there which I will be using for my future manicures at home. I would love a video on pedicures and nailcare if you have not already done one😊👌
Oh thank you!!! I have thick overgrown skin (yes I thought it was cuticle too!!). In the past when Ive gone to a salon they always cut it. I hate it when they did that because I felt like that part shouldn't be cut. I should have listened to my gut! So, now they are thick and overgrown. I will do as you said and moisturise, gently push back and continue to do this until they are back to normal. I am about to do my first dip mani but now wonder if I should hold back on that until my skin is not thick and overgrown like it is now??? If only I could find a manicurist that took the time and care with my nails, then I would be so much happier.
Hi Monika! So sorry for such late reply! For sure the skin will heal and it will look so much better. I also used to cut the skin around my nails but since I stopped it became much softer and it shrank. The key is to do this on a very regular bases. Like every 2-3 days. Just a gentle push back of the PNF. And lots of good hand creams and oil. Please let me know if you went for that dip and how did that go. If you want send me a picture thesalonlife[at]gmail[dot]com and I might be able to give you some feedback.
@@TheSalonLife thank you! I have been using a nail oil every night and my skin isn't looking at thick anymore. Unfortunately 4 days after my dip they started to lift (on Christmas Day of all days!!) and I did the worst thing and pulled them off. I know!!! Stupid me. So my nails are not in the best shape to do any more dips. I am now bringing them back to good condition before I start again. I enjoyed the process of the dip and found it to be easy but I think I really didn't prep the nails too well (cuticle on the nail). It also could be because of the way my nail grows, but lifting after such a short time could only be because of bad prepping, not growth. When I do it again I will def email you to show you. Thank you and Happy New Year. ♥
@@TheSalonLife sorry for asking but what you mean by NPF? I have the same issue with my cuticules, well not cuticules but thick overgrown part. I cut them too, couple days ago i did it and now i regret it... Also i pick them. Now watching yout video and reading comments i understand that the skin is just dry and i haven't moisturised it before enough. My fingernails have look afwul all my lige except the time i did my nails at salon - gel, acrylics, shellac. Then my hands look great. At the moment i am not able to go to salon so i want to learn myself how gl treat my fingernails and cuticules.
Newbie from SA ...thank you sooo much for this .....I learnt something new .....I am very scared to cut cuticles coz I never know when I'm cutting living tissue so i would rather not cut....thanks again
Came back to check the exact versions of CeraVe and Eucerin you were recommending. Wanted to add one thing: I'm glad you showed people to use only a small dab of these moinsturizers on hands. I don't know about other places, but here in the US, people use way too much of these lotions, I'm talking quarter-sized or even larger portions per hand. I guess they think that using more will work better, but, in reality, it doesn't. My mom the nurse was the one who explained to me that putting too much moisturizer on your hand at once will have the opposite effect than what you want, because too much oil sends back the message (so to speak) that you have too much moisture in your skin, so your body compensates by sending less natural oil there. This will cause your skin to dry out even more. Then you're in a vicious cycle of using more and more lotion, but having worse dry skin than ever. While that's a boon to the lotion companies, it's not so great for your skin--or your wallet. So, like you showed, use a wee bit. It will work better, and make these products last longer. Win/win!
Everyone is so confusing about what is actually the cuticle and whether it is safe to remove, but your video was very helpful. So, it is safe to remove that sticky layer of dead skin? I wanna start doing some gelx nails, and I wanna make sure my nails don't get messed up during nail prep.
Thank you so much for this excellent video! I have trouble with cuticles and I am going to use your method. How often should the proximal nail fold be pushed back?
Thank you for very educational and catchy videos! And for the product reviews and recommendations 💐 You mentioned that if you start cutting the fold it’s a long-term damage for the skin... are there any ways to fix it? 😅
Just stopping the cutting and using the creams I mentioned. It takes couple months sometimes if the skin has been cut or abraded. Much less if the skin is stretched only due to not being pushed back. Then usually when clients use creams/oils it takes 2-4 weeks. :)
I’ve been cutting the fold too, ever since I stopped getting weekly mani’s! My problem, I believe, are my cuticle nippers! It’s like I’m addicted to them! It’s horrible! I’ve got to stop with all the cutting that I’m doing! Thank you, Anna! I just discovered her TH-cam channel. And, I’m so grateful! My nails look embarrassingly, horrible!
Hi Anna - Gold Bond Healing Hand Cream's second ingredient is hydroxyethyl urea. Is this similar to just urea to moisturize cuticles? Or is just urea the better option? Thank you for these amazing videos. I've learned so much!
From what I read the hydroxyethyl urea just feels better in cosmetic formulations than urea. Not sure about the ingredient. Should be good. I don’t have personal experience with it and how it works. It should be good :)
Hi! I watched your other video on how to do this with the overgrown skin, but with the Kerasal & oil. So which method do you recommend? This one or the other with the Kerasal regimen? Thank you!
I am having some cuticle issues myself. I got a cuticle pusher not too long ago,and I have tried to be as gentle as possible. However,I still have a thicker growth of skin despite using a cuticle pusher on a regular basis. I have not tried nail conditioner or nail glue but may add that to my regimen. I think that I may have some type of skin issue though because the thickened skin around the cuticle is red(luckily though not painful but more of a nuisance at the moment) so I am certainly up for any suggestions guys. Will nail conditioner and nail oil work to for excess skin growth around the big toenail cuticle to help soften it over time?
So glad to have found your channel! I had no idea you WEREN'T supposed to cut that area. Question: when you are going to polish, do you do all of this beforehand including the oil and the lotion? Or do you wait and do the oil and lotion after you've finishes your manicure? I would assume the oils would affect adhesion of polish.
Hello there :). I do the manicure first, then polish and then do the cream and oil. I like to see the borders of the nail very clearly (and when that area is dry you can see that better). I know many salons do the oil and cream before polish. They just clean the nail with alcohol before they polish. To me it defeats the point because then you have to put the oil on again but for some people it works and I think it’s a matter of preference.
I’ve learned so much! Thank you 🙏🏻 is the moosturising routine the same if you have gel nail polish? I heard some of the moisturisers can make the gels lift and they don’t last as long as they normally would 🤔
What if you already have a long proximal nail fold from cutting? I have this... will it ever shrink in size with proper care? If so, what are the appropriate correction actions? Follow what you have recommended in the video? Thank you!

Ingrown toenails (meaning when the area around the nails is inflamed or infected) is a medical procedures. We can't be treating this as it's not a cosmetic issue anymore.
PS. Here is more info about Spanish regulations: instagram.com/p/CVAk2hFNO1f/? Ingrown nails should be treated by a podologist (medical setting) and unless you have the license and approved career in Spain, you can't do this practice in your beauty/nails centers. According to Art. 403 of the Criminal Code, treat them without having the career in Podology, enter into Instrument and is punished. Art. 403 Penal Code 1. Those who practice acts of a profession without possessing the relevant academic degree issued or recognized in Spain in accordance with the legislation in force, will face a penalty of twelve to twenty-four months. If the developed professional activity requires an official title that accredits the necessary training and legally capable for its exercise, and you are not in possession of such a title, you will be imposed a fine of six to twelve months. 2. A prison sentence of six months to two years will be imposed if any of the following circumstances: a) If the culprit, in addition, were publicly attributed the professional quality covered by the title mentioned. b) If the offender practices the acts referred to in the above section in a place or establishment open to the public in which the provision of services of that profession is announced. There are very good podiatrists and the most professional thing is to direct them to them, when you see that what you're going to do is a practice outside your profession.

As well as what works for me and what doesn't
I'm super happy my video helped someone :)
Great info! I never before understood the difference between the 'fold' that is living skin and the cuticle. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
thank you so much for your videos!!
Thank you so much! I finally understand what is going on and how to take care of my cuticles
This was so helpful!! I’ve thrown out cuticle removers because they didn’t seem to do any good. Now I understand that it’s a process and may take several manicures to see the full results. Love your voices, explanations, and the demonstrations. Well done!
That was exactly what I was doing too!
These videos on cuticle care are amazing. I've been cutting my PNF for more than 20 years! I'm going to try this technique and see if I can restore that area. I don't cut the PNF on my toes and they look so much better - you think I would have put it together. Thank you!
I've looked everywhere for a video on this topic! Finally I know how to take care of my cuticles properly😭
Thank you so much for your kind words! All the best on your exams! 🙌
So how did you do on your exam?
ohmygosh where have you been all my life!!! Thank you so much for the detailed explanations, I’ve been approaching my horrible nails all wrong!
thank you for your explanation! you are the first one to actually say that it takes a couple of weeks to look constantly better.
Thank you for explaining the cuticle vs the skin. I was an extreme nail and cuticle biter and after watching this video and using these methods especially how to remove the cuticle instead of cutting the entire skin part that most nail technicians always do. I now have beautiful healthy nails. My skin around the nail bed is still inflamed from years of biting but it’s getting better and better
Thank you 🙏🏻 .
Still binge watching your videos as I do work. Your voice is so soothing, it brings my blood pressure down about ten points while I listen. Thank you.
oh my gosh, thank you ❤️
Very helpful!
Especially on the recent video I did.
th-cam.com/users/shortsKhiNmC4o90M?feature=share
Most of them rude.
Here is a newer video, I think it will help:

I agree. A very good idea! Or Q-tip as applicator.
this is so helpful!
You use a tiny bit, it lasts forever

Has something worked for you?
Thanks for sharing! I have been doing the opposite of all you have said with bad results. I’m starting to follow your routine starting now
You have such naturally beautiful nails ❤
Thank you so much
Wow! Thank you! 😅
I'll be doing all this asap to FINALLY solve this problem. My mum also said she did a course for nail care and they cut her cuticles and they've been overgrown ever since. What a good job they did! 🙄
I'll show her this as well 😊💖
Thanks for the education, as I thought my cuticles were the skin that I religiously cut away! I will never do that again and will follow your advice for sure! I’m actually using coconut oil and it’s working to soften those areas and repair my nails.
Anna, you have radically changed how I treat my nails 🥰. Does this mean I’ve been radicalized by TH-cam? 🤣
But seriously-these videos are excellent.
You are very welcome Sara! Thank you for your comment
So satisfying! I’m new to your channel and love how you mentioned foot care!! I’m 62 and been using creams and lotions on my feet for over 40 years and have very soft smooth feet.
Me too and I am almost 75. My favorite foot cream is Clarins. It's expensive but you only need a small amount and it absorbs beautifully.
Thank you for sharing this. This is the best tutorial for cuticle care I have ever see. Love it.
Wonderfully presented information! I will take pictures and let you know how things are working out. My folds are grow very long and I have always pushed and cut them. I hope I can get them looking nice, my nails are nice.
So helpful! Ive been cutting my cuticles and experiencing exactly what you describe as a reaction from my skin to overgrow! I will try the products!
Wonderful video. I’m guilty of abusing my PNF. I will stop immediately. Thanks so much.
I really needed this education. It truly helped to be educated on this to take better care of my nails.
Thanks 😊
AMAZING video. I´m speechless. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video.

So true I've tried three different ways to do my cuticles and I always go back to my school days of cosmetology even though I didn't get to complete it cause the school I was going to stopped my classes and I had one semester left made good grades and showed up that was the only chance I had at cosmetology school had no other way to even go to another one cause I'm from a very small town in the country so much for my big dreams but yes it works and love the hand wax after a mannie cure but that's just from Maggie's opinion God bless us all
So glad I found this video! This is really going to help me. I finally understand why my cuticles are in the condition they're in. Thank you 💚
You are very welcome!
Thank you. You saved my proximal nail fold :)
My również dziękujemy za wsparcie Aniu! Pozdrawiam!!
Thank you! I have been so nervous about cutting cuticles, I'm a type 1 diabetic and do not want to unnecessarily create a risk of infection.

Just keep practicing and be comfortable with saying no :)
If a client ask for something you are not comfortable doing just say “I’m not comfortable doing this at this time” or if it’s something you shouldn’t be doing (like cutting living skin) you can always say “in my professional opinion living skin should not be cut (show them the living skin) so i can’t cut it”
Practice as much as you can to build confidence. Confidence comes with time and practice. Good luck!
Great video! I am going to try this. I do need it:-) Thank you. Cheers from Nova Scotia.
Great video. The sort of overview I needed. Thank you very much.
You're welcome!
So awesome. Any tips for people (like me) that have sidewall issues with hang nails or dead dry skin?
Gentle care, avoid harsh soaps and soaking your hands in water. After each hand wash apply light lotion like Cerave Moisturising lotion and dab of oil on each nail. Then at night urea based cream and vaseline on each nail. Constant care and protection of the skin is the only way to go. Skin gets softer when its protected. It gets harder and callused when it's abraded, cut, picked at and abused.
Excellent information, I already use some of these products, but will include a few more, and the way you recommend using them. Your own fingernails are the best advertising! 😊
Thank you so much Nina! Consistency and gentle treatment is the key
Thank you so much for a very educational video 🤗 there is a lot of great points in there which I will be using for my future manicures at home. I would love a video on pedicures and nailcare if you have not already done one😊👌
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for your comment Maria!
At the moment i am not able to go to salon so i want to learn myself how gl
treat my fingernails and cuticules.

You are very welcome! Yes, take care of that skin and push it gently 1-2 times a week and it will become pliable with nothing to cut :)
@@TheSalonLife will do...tx again
Win/win!
Thank you for the lesson 🥰 please show more polishes♥️♥️♥️🥰
Very helpful. Thank you.
Hi Stephanie! Once a week:) please take before and afters. I can’t wait to see results!!
@@TheSalonLife Thank you for responding so quickly!
Very helpful :) Thank you
Hi! I watched your other video on how to do this with the overgrown skin, but with the Kerasal & oil. So which method do you recommend? This one or the other with the Kerasal regimen? Thank you!
Ohh Thank you! just what i need it! 🌹❤️
Hello stranger :))
I highly suggest leaving a small bottle of nail oil and the lotion by the sink. I love the gold bond lotion.
100%!
Thank you for doing this! Is there no hope for someone who has been cutting her proximal nail fold for years? I'll continue watching your videos.
Hi M. There is hope!!! Don't cut the PNF, gently push it back and simply give it time. Be patient, it will get better :)
Take care - MSL
@@TheSalonLife Thank you! Your instruction is appreciated!
Very helpful video! Thank you!
Thank you so much:))
@@TheSalonLife exactly. If you apply the oil first and then clean with alcohol then the oil goes away. Thanks!
I love watching your videos!!! So informative your awesome!!!
Thank you Blanca! 💕
I’ve learned so much! Thank you 🙏🏻 is the moosturising routine the same if you have gel nail polish? I heard some of the moisturisers can make the gels lift and they don’t last as long as they normally would 🤔
Yes, you should be able to. Once the product is bonded anything applied on top (other than acetone of course) is not going to make it lift.
THANK YOU for sharing!!! Very helpful :)
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for your comment!

Do have/or can you make a video on ingrown toenails?
Ingrown toenails (meaning when the area around the nails is inflamed or infected) is a medical procedures. We can't be treating this as it's not a cosmetic issue anymore.
PS. Here is more info about Spanish regulations:

Ingrown nails should be treated by a podologist (medical setting) and unless you have the license and approved career in Spain, you can't do this practice in your beauty/nails centers.
According to Art. 403 of the Criminal Code, treat them without having the career in Podology, enter into Instrument and is punished.
Art. 403 Penal Code
2. A prison sentence of six months to two years will be imposed if any of the following circumstances:
a) If the culprit, in addition, were publicly attributed the professional quality covered by the title mentioned.
b) If the offender practices the acts referred to in the above section in a place or establishment open to the public in which the provision of services of that profession is announced.
