Thank you for this video, Anna! Your teaching is always so clear and wise! I have been following you for about four years now. I always learn something new every time you have a teaching video. ♥️
I actually bought a pair of “Mighty Sight” as-seen-on-TV magnification glasses to use to paint my nails with. They have 160% magnification and they have very bright LED lights right on the frame of the glasses…like headlights. Lol. They are also rechargeable. I love them so much. They make painting my nails with clear polish or applying anything at all to my nails, shaping and filing, or just wanting to inspect them closely, a total breeze.
@@TheSalonLife you gotta get yourself a pair. They are called “Mighty Sight”. I used to use one of those pivoting flashlight headbands that you put around your forehead and they work wonderfully too because they keep your hands free and you can aim the light right at the nails. Good light is absolutely everything when it comes to doing anything at all to your nails. I’m 50 and my eyesight isn’t what it used to be.
Do you wear glasses for reading as well? Would you wear them over your reading glasses? For regular reading and computer I wear 1.5 but for nails I wear 2.5

I will now watch your video and try getting my nails done step by step!!
What a great video, very well demonstrated. I'm rubbish at painting my nails, but I'm going to give it a try now that my nails have improved thanks to following your advice on nail care
Thank You for continuing to educate us 💚 Personally, I'd highly recommend having both hands on a table or other flat, stable, sufficiently wide surface. Really helps to avoid smudges between painted and unpainted nails if I can keep my hand flat with spread out fingers. I'm not practiced or coordinated enough to polish my nails just over my knee without making a complete mess xD Also if self-leveling jelly polishes are available where You live, they are so much easier to get neat results with than regular nail polishes.

If one happens to get the neck and cap full of polish, how do you clean it? I end up getting a bottle neck full of cotton lint and more polish puddling in the cap when I set it down to work on the bottle! Quite a mess!
The neck can be cleaned with pure acetone. Once the polish gets in the cap, uffffff. Difficult to clean. You can try using a dropper to fill it with acetone and then using a q-tip.

Hi! I would to like to know if these are normal effects of an irritation/reaction you've seen before. I gave myself a manicure, using cuticle remover for the first time, and I washed it off with soap and water, before working on the skin. I did this since the bottle said to do this after use and I wanted to avoid irritation as well, so I thought I may as well do it before, but that could be why it was difficult to remove the cuticle using an orangewood stick,(I think I left quite a bit behind) pushing back the PNF as gently as I could...When I removed the polish, around a week later, I noticed my PNF looked stretched, the cuticle layer was sort of flaky/peeling vs the usual stickiness, the sidewalls looked like they had little dust particles, and like the skin had slightly melted into my nail. Never seen my sidewalls like that. I hadn't changed my routine of lotion after most washes while wearing that polish, which had kept my skin/PNF looking pretty healthy before. After I removed the polish, I've since been not doing manicures/polish, and trying to moisturize more than usual, and slowly(it's been around a month or two since that mani)my skin looks better,(I currently have many hangnails)still not quite as healthy as before the remover. That was my first time using remover on my fingernails, not the first using that polish line. Any ideas about what happened? Thank you.(I also have used this remover on my toes once/twice before a few years ago, didn't notice any of the effects above.)
@TheSalonLife The remover I used was the Prolinc cuticle eliminator I'm fairly certain I applied the remover and let it set for 30 sec. I then washed again with soap and water, and struggled removing the cuticle from the nail plate. What came off peeled off in pieces more, rather than acting like more like mush like I've seen in your videos. I've been wondering if maybe the exposure of fresh product twice to the skin like that was more of the issue causing irritation, and worse than it might be then if it was in contact with skin for the same amount of time, but just one application?

Either way, it overall seems like a strong product, and I will be careful in choosing one in the future. This review described similar symptoms as mine: ‘’Caused my nails to turn yellow and skin to dry and peel,’’ --It reminded me that I did experience a yellow tinge on my nails, which I assumed was from the nail polish, but it did fade fairly quickly. The other thing I noticed that could be damage or coincidental from the remover/cuticle removing process, is subtle pale white-ish spots growing in right up against the PNF, on both index fingers, after I removed the polish. They were all subtle at first, but the one on my right hand is whiter now. They're about a third of the way grown out currently, and I don't see any more growing in. No more removers for a while for me, but I know you recommend the blue cross one, and would like to know if you have thoughts on it for sensitive skin.

Hi! I have one really important question that has been stressing me out a lot!😭: So I've been doing press on nails for about 3 months. I've touched gel polish occasionally, for example when I've removed the sticky layer with water, because I didn't know that it was possible with alcohol wipes.😪 I've also cleaned gel polish bottles once, and gel got on my hands a couple of times. I washed them off immediately, and I didn't get any symptoms of allergy.🤔 Now afterwards I found out that it's possible to have an allergic reaction to gels. I haven't had allergy reactions yet, but I've been touched to gel a few times.😬😭 Now, however, I'd like to learn more about doing gel nails, take courses, get a license, and search the internet so that I could start doing real gel extension nails.🤔 However, I don't know if that's good idea, because now that I've been exposed to gel a few times, I'm afraid that I'll develop an allergy over time.😭😭 So the question is, can I become a nail tech, or does being exposed to gel a few times mean that I'll develop a gel allergy? 😭 (Before I found out all that stuff about allergies, I bought a lot nail stuff, but now I'm afraid that there's gonna be no use for them, since doing nails will be too dangerous.)🥲
I am willing to study a lot, take courses, etc. However, I wonder if, since I have exposure, will it be possible for me to do nails again, even if I would be fully trained from now on.
Okay, I watched it and it was very helpful. Still there is this thing that I would like to ask; is it possible to learn how to do nails from TH-cam videos for example, or do I have to take courses? I would love to take courses but unfortunately I can not afford them, since they cost like over 200€/course.🥲
It is also recommended that all nail supplies be from the same online store, but I switched brands at one point. Now I have all the supplies from the luunails online store, but the gel polish colors are from madam glam. Can I still use them, even though they are a different brand? When those gel polishes run out, I will switch all the products to luunails.
If you want to do something professionally and charge money for it then I recommend attending a proper education. It's only fair. How would you feel if you hired any professional and then you found out that they learned from TH-cam because they couldn't afford proper education. TH-cam is great and the information helps, but it does not replace formal training. I recommend starting with Nail Knowledge (I'm not affiliated with them) nailknowledge.org
I have the hardest time polishing with slender nail polish brushes. This results in a streaky application. What technique or method do you recommend to avoid this?
I only use good brushes. I don't buy a polish that has a bad brush. Seriously I refuse to use the crappy brushes. Thats like asking a make-up artist to use a these cheapie eye shadow applicators that come with palettes for their make up.
Check out some indie nail polish brands. A lot of them sell replacement brushes or other brushes that usually fit most bottles. They are usually medium-wide or wide brushes.
Cosmetics in EU are highly regulated and you can't sell "home made" cosmetics. So this is why I'm using a professional cosmetic manufacturing factory to make my salves and make sure that everything is done correctly. They should be ready in January.
@ I have applied it as thin as I possibly could; but for some reason no matter what brand I try, they don’t dry. It could maybe just be my chemistry…. Idk. But I tried many things to get them to dry.
@ yes, I did watch the whole video. I do prefer a natural looking polish too. I just ment for demonstration purposes. I must have missed the part about a part 2. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
It's about learning with the easiest steps first. Then moving onto the more difficult steps (colors) but only after the clear polish application has been perfected.
# 5 would be: pick a polish with a good, wide brush!!

I've also cleaned gel polish bottles once, and gel got on my hands a couple of times. I washed them off immediately, and I didn't get any symptoms of allergy.🤔
Now afterwards I found out that it's possible to have an allergic reaction to gels. I haven't had allergy reactions yet, but I've been touched to gel a few times.😬😭
Now, however, I'd like to learn more about doing gel nails, take courses, get a license, and search the internet so that I could start doing real gel extension nails.🤔
However, I don't know if that's good idea, because now that I've been exposed to gel a few times, I'm afraid that I'll develop an allergy over time.😭😭

I recommend starting with Nail Knowledge (I'm not affiliated with them)

I have the hardest time polishing with slender nail polish brushes. This results in a streaky application. What technique or method do you recommend to avoid this?
I only use good brushes. I don't buy a polish that has a bad brush. Seriously I refuse to use the crappy brushes. Thats like asking a make-up artist to use a these cheapie eye shadow applicators that come with palettes for their make up.
Check out some indie nail polish brands. A lot of them sell replacement brushes or other brushes that usually fit most bottles. They are usually medium-wide or wide brushes.
🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thank you so much 😊 This is so helpful ☀️🥳❤️
You're so welcome!
Hi, why can you not sell your salve on its own?
Cosmetics in EU are highly regulated and you can't sell "home made" cosmetics. So this is why I'm using a professional cosmetic manufacturing factory to make my salves and make sure that everything is done correctly. They should be ready in January.
The problem with polish I have, is that they don’t dry for me.
You are probably applying it too thick
@ I have applied it as thin as I possibly could; but for some reason no matter what brand I try, they don’t dry. It could maybe just be my chemistry…. Idk. But I tried many things to get them to dry.
I love your vids but why use a clear polish for demonstrating how to paint you nails? It’s hard to see.
Have you seen the video? :) I explained.
This is the next step th-cam.com/video/5Ron39c_3yg/w-d-xo.html
@ yes, I did watch the whole video. I do prefer a natural looking polish too. I just ment for demonstration purposes. I must have missed the part about a part 2. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
It's about learning with the easiest steps first. Then moving onto the more difficult steps (colors) but only after the clear polish application has been perfected.
Hi! Anyone in Southern California follow A Salon Life styles and methods? I’m obsessed with these methods and I just hate doing my own nails haha
