I apologize in advance if a certain moment in this video causes you to wince or even cry. These things happen, but rarely do they get captured on camera. So it's actually a blessing! Hahahaha pure JOY! Ugh. Oh well. Thanks for watching!
Also I was distracted by said event and misspoke at 14:51. I should have said the Allan is taller and wider, not the Schuyler. Derp. ; )

At 14:51 I misspoke. Obviously the Allan is taller and wider, not the Schuyler. Sorry I was distracted by Bible abuse. ; p

This video is ultimately what made me decide to move forward with buying my first Allan and I could not be more happy! I ended up with a black with silver and a red with silver.

I recently purchased the Schuyler Quentel which is an absolutely beautiful and meticulously made bible, but I found the 28gsm paper thickness to be far too delicate. I also bought the Allan ESV reader which has a more robust 36gsm paper that is much more to my liking. I hope Schuyler will consider increasing the paper thickness.

IMO the Allan wins in the looks department… so BEAUTIFUL 😁

Excellent video. I scratched a brand new Cambridge Turquoise the same way on the first day I got it. I have given up trying to keep my premium Bibles looking like new because no matter how careful you are, the pages will always get scratched or creased lol.

Thanks for the through review of these amazing Bibles. I own both and prefer the Allan for its better paper , VBV format and yap. But both are amazing quality.
I’ve only owned my Schuyler Quentel NASB for a few days and already have a small scratch in the gilt. I think the only way to keep them perfect is to not use them and that’s not an option for me. Thanks again….

@@LeaningTowerOfBible I think you’ll love it. I typically haven’t bought calfskin bound bibles, I’ve always gone the goatskin route but this one is awesome. Allan’s printed & bound by Royal Jongbloed in my experience are near perfect. Allan’s printed and bound elsewhere tend to be hit or miss. My Schuyler & LSB were done by Jongbloed and are also very high quality.

@@MrSteveb1 Yep. My plum already arrived and it's a thing of beauty. I posted photos on Instagram but will likely show both in a stunningly low production-quality video in the near future. The cover on the plum is a bit thin and floppy for my taste, but that's my only (extremely minor) gripe so far.

Good comparison. I have given up trying to keep my gilding scratch-free. I just reach for one and bump it and then it’s over. I’m a perfectionist so it bugs me too!

I kept it perfect for 3 years! One slip and bam! I think the fact that this was my first Allan added to it. But it's fine! Mostly 😂

I was terrified to damage my Schuyler when I first purchased it, but it occurred to me that the reason I purchased it was because my cheap Bible fell apart. I set out to actually read it and use it, for what is the point in having a quality Bible that will last a lifetime if I never use it? I purchased a thin micron pen and started marking it up. Now, I'm more careful in how I mark my Schuyler and I put more thought into what I actually write, but I don't let the price tag and high quality scare me from using God's word.
My wife's Bible is currently falling apart, so I purchased her a Crossway ESV Omega. She loves Crossway ESVs, so I got her a higher quality one over the "value" Bible that she had been rocking. My hope is that this new Bible I gifted her will last.

Nice comparison and review of each. Also, it happened to my Allan Brevier Clarendon Wide Margin. Probably the most coin I've ever spent on a Bible. Then one day, thumbing through pages to find something, my thumb turned and, bam. Made me sick at first. Then I got over it and turned it into, as you said, a "beater." At least (or so I tell myself), with the WM, they're meant to be written in, filled up, used, etc., so I don't feel as bad and have even added to the scratches on the gilding since then. Hey, it gives it character. Right? Riiiight. Lol. Anyway, keep up the great work.

    • @LeaningTowerOfBible
      @LeaningTowerOfBible  ปีที่แล้ว

That ABCWM has so much space and such great paper that it really needs to be written in. I have two and I often think that it's kind of a waste to keep them like new the way I do. Thanks for your comment and I love your channel name!

I own a lot of bibles. I thought the difference was just TRANSLATIONS! But I guess: Layout, construction, Color, Style, font, might make a difference!!
Also as a biblomaniac, I probably should have a premium Bible. I sort of do... But they are all $40-$50 items, bought used (on sale...)
    IMHO

Yeah, I have issues for sure. I scuffed up the gilt on my Schuyler zipper Bible hours after I opened it. It's ironic to me that the zipper that is meant to protect it can (and did) also scuff it so easily. Oh well! Just makes it that much easier to use without being overly concerned about it.

@@LeaningTowerOfBible lol I share you’re sentiments actually more than you know(I tell myself “it’s cool scuff the Bible”,but I’m crying inside lol) and it helps me see how ridiculous I can be lol. I’m watching another video ironically on Allan reader vs quentel nasb right now.
Also if you’re accident prone and compulsive with buying bibles that’s like the worst combo lol you buy the most expensive things and can resell for only way less.
