    I have the Allan coming in Petrol Blue Meriva Calfskin. $258 shipped. The Topaz is available thru Evangelical Bibles but it’s $295. I own an Allan NASB reader in Purple Goatskin and love it. Pretty much flawless. Good thing because it was nearly $300. Good comparison. Thank you.

    If the Allan were a verse by verse, I would definitely choose it over the topaz.

    If I could only have one Bible, it would the Allen. That Bible is everything ki would want my Bible to, every aspect of it in terms of the book block. It would be a killer if the Allen had raised hubs. This is the Bible I'd give an arm and leg to own. I kind a stopped looking at videos of this particular Bible because I can't have it, so it's a torture to see it. Lord, oh how I would love to have this particular Allen ESV Classic Reader in whatever colour.
    Thank you for sharing this comparison. Very well done. And this will be the last time I look at this Bible. I can't take the torture anymore.

    How is the red letter in the topaz? I’m thinking about getting one but I am concerned about inconsistency. I heard it’s pretty inconsistent around John chapter 7 is that correct?

    I agree about the ribbons, although RL Allan has gone way too long too, hahaha, but you can always cut them a bit shorter (1 inch shorter than that would be my sweet spot)

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. The more I read my Allan. The more I agree. There just a bit too long. But info love my ribbons. Lol

    I like the layout of the Topaz, but I'd like the option of a black letter text. I do agree that they could improve on things like ribbons and yapp (not to mention that the calfskin versions of the Topaz are still made with paste-down liners instead of edge lining). I'm sure they could manage a bit more ribbon and leather considering what they charge for the goatskin version, and considering that the Allan would probably only be ~$15 more...

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah...I'm not sure why Cambridge struggles with the ribbon. I like the yapp on my allan and I"m getting a rebind with a full yapp...but I don't mind the standard cut on the topaz.

    • @PaDutchRunner
      @PaDutchRunner ปีที่แล้ว

      The Cambridge paste down is very well executed and is arguably just as durable as the edge lined. The benefit of the paste down is that the Bible opens flatter despite having a stiffer cover.

    Like. The topaz vbv but the reference marker letters are harder for me to read so I stuck with Allan's

    If they took the reader layout and made it verse by verse and changed the color of the verse numbers like Cambridge. I think you would have a pretty hard to beat layout.

    The Trevaris is single column but the verse numbers are along the side. The Quentel is more comparable to these two.the cross references are on the bottom however.
