After 2 days of research trying to find which one is better for wide or narrow feet, and no article or other videos gave so much detail about narrow or wide feet which is so important. Thank you so much, you made Chewbecca's feet very happy today!
Wow, Nathan is doing shoe reviews and KILLING it! I took about a year off from running (don't want to talk about it) and am getting started back. First thing, URC is THE store to buy from. Second, yourself and Ginger Runner are my favorites on TH-cam for reviews. Glad to see these reviews and I need some help deciding between some Hoka's and Salomons (I own both). Chase was my go to guy when he was at the shop a few years ago. Congrats on the success of the channel and I will be seeing y'all soon!
OK, we're going to hit that in order: 1) Welcome back. Stoked for you. 2) Heck yeah!! We are SO stoked for the kind words and really do try our hardest. Thank you so much for that. 3) Ginger Runner has MUCH better hair. We won't comment on the existence/lack of a soul, because that's rude to gingers everywhere. 4) Chase is crushing duties for the US Air Force now - his talents are FAR more beneficial there than here. We'd be ripping the country off if we kept him to ourselves. :) 5) Heck yeah! See you soon!
Haven't worn out my Clifton 5s enough to get the 6 yet, but I like to have both in my shoe quiver. The Cliftons for the long every day runs, and the Rincons for the days you want to go faster, like tempo and race days. Helps with the longevity issues, too. My Speedgoats get the most wear, anyway, and thanks to your reviews, my new Evo Speedgoats will be moving into the rotation soon. Thanks for all of the great advice!
Super. I think I will get a pair of both and use them at tandem. Clifton for slow, long, recovery runs and Rincon for tempo, speed work and marathon race day.
Loved both. Sized down in both because of the length, but both were putting my left foot (toes mostly) to sleep, pins and needles. Going to try true to size on the Clifton. The Rincon might ultimately be too narrow for my what I consider medium width foot (and use a D width in everything else I run in). Great comparison. Thanks.
Good feedback! We do hear of people sizing down, but that has not been our experience in-house. Good luck with the Clifton (which we have definitely not had to adjust sizing on)!
@@TheUltraRunningCompany Turns out the perfect sizing on the Clifton 6 for me was a 10 2E. I wear a 10.5 D in the Saucony ISO 2, Kinvara, 9, Pegasus 35/36, New Balance Beacon, and most others.
Great review. Wish i saw this before picking up my Rincon. I did notice the more narrower feel and less cushion feel compared to to the Clifton. Clifton feels more comfortable to run in to me. I think you hit all the spots in the comparison. Great job
Great reviews! Love your channel. I had to go with the Clifton based on width. Tried the Rincon but too narrow. Cliftons are awesome! Light and fast. I love the rocker.
I recently sprained my foot and still recovering, made me realise I need decent footwear, I don’t run bu walk and hike a lot. I was wearing blitz martial arts trainers with about 5 mm base on the bottom ( no wonder my foot is bruised so bad ). After watching your videos I think I need a good deep show to absorb shock etc and prevent sprains again. Would you have one to recommend?
As far as next show review, can you do the New Balance line of shoes ? Beacon, 1400v6, 1080v9, .... New Balance and Hoka seem to be improving their running shoes a lot over the last 2 yrs.
The Young Travelier when I tried them on, I felt I could live with the forefoot width for the type of shoe it is, but it’s the midfoot width (or lack thereof) that was problematic. The fact that there wasn’t a removable/replaceable insole meant I couldn’t opt for a thinner/better shaped liner, a,d well, that was the deal breaker. As a E (left foot) and 2E right foot I can go true to size in a Kinvara or up half a size in a Razor 3 for a similar performance. I did opt for the Clifton wide for recovery and long runs.
Great video... Do you think the upper will loosen up? I have a high instep and wide foot. I made the same mistake of replacing the insole with a thin Spenco insole... too tight, reverted to original email inserts, they still have some tack left on them, hope they don’t bunch up😬 if they do... I was thinking of spray clue!!? Thoughts??? Thanks in advance for reply!!!
Hey Nathan! I'm a high school runner that wants a pair of high cushioning shoes. I want a pair of shoes that are cushiony and light but can also do the distance on my slower long run days. I'm stuck between the Clifton 6, Rincon, and the Bondi 6. Any suggestions?
Great video! Which shoe(s) in the Hoka lineup would be best for standing/walking all day? I am a med rep and I am in surgery and walking hospitals constantly. Thanks!
Looking for some good Advice ! I've ran on Champion Payless Shoes my whole Life ! ($20) Did 6 Marathons & Ran 5-6 times a Week 6 - 10 miles consistently (Road Running) within my 5yrs of Running, Until i got "Runners Knee Injury" as i was Finishing a 31 Mile Run on the Mountain..... Worst Pain, Could not Jump, Jog, Or even Stretched ... Never Considered Expensive Running shoes but i feel like its a Good Idea to Purchase some because i would love to start Running Again.... What would be my Best Option , I would want to Purchase 2 Types of SHOES! Will Nike Turbo 2 be Good & Hoka Rincon 6 as a DUO! My style of Running is Basically 5-6 times a Week / 6-10 Miles (Road Running) / & Sometimes lots up Uphills & Downhills.
Hi Graviel! Sounds like you are ready to get back in the game. Your best bet is to visit a local running store where you can try on different styles to see what is most comfortable for you. We post our opinions of many different shoes, and while you can definitely use them to decide between styles and brands, they are no substitute for actually having the shoes on your feet. Also, your FORM is FAR more important to successful running than your shoes. Running shoes are just a tool to assist with your best practice running...as long as you're comfortable in what your wearing and they don't get in your way (ie a heel/toe offset that is noticeably high or "stability/guidance" features that adjust your landing), focus on HOW you're running first. Tools help at the margins! Good luck!
We're planning to post an "overview" video in the near future outlining our philosophy regarding shoes we review and carry here at the Ultra Running Company. One aspect of this is that we try to avoid shoes with "stability" features, and the Arahi is HOKA's stability (or " guidance") offering. We just don't like the idea of a shoe changing the way the body moves, and as such avoid this category of shoe as a general rule. Also, we've seen no science that links any of the traditional reasons why people recommend stability products to reduced injury rates. While we're sure companied put a lot of R&D into this category (or at the very least marketing dollars...), we don't plan on reviewing them. We also just think there are better HOKAs out there...no offense to the Arahi, of course! :)
Hi Nathan. Great video, thank you. I was wondering if the Clifton 6 has the same type of very pronounced arch than the Clifton 5. Such arch on the 5 had a tendency (from my experience) to put some strain on the shins. Thanks.
From the look of it I don't see any difference in width of the two shoes. Is the upper on Clifton 6 more flexible ? or else what makes you think its better suited to wider feet ? I have already returned Rincon because of its inflexible upper.

Thank you, Chewbacca. You made our day. No, wait. You made our week. We're so happy you're happy. May the Force be with you. Always.
Was looking for a good comparison review of these two shoes and this was spot-on. Very well done and provided needed information.
Thanks for the amazing review. Wish I’d watched this before grabbing the Rincon. Going to have to send it back and get the Clifton 6 due to width.

Please review the Rabbit GTI Mark I. I believe it's faster than both of these.

Agreed. I loved the Rincon, but it was putting my toes to sleep.

Yea the rincon would be amazing in a wide.. loved it but returned due to it being too narrow... I am barely an E in width
Yup. We suspect a wide foot would have some trouble here...

Thanks mate👍. Was wondering if you're someone who runs mainly on the forefoot. What one should you choose? Grtz
Great video! Which shoe(s) in the Hoka lineup would be best for standing/walking all day? I am a med rep and I am in surgery and walking hospitals constantly. Thanks!
There's lots of nuance to this, but if we have to choose just one it will always be the Bondi.
The Ultra Running Company just picked up my Bondi 6 and love them! Now I need either the Clifton or the Rincon for running in!
Hi. And compared to the Elevon?
Thanks for the great comparison. I am more informed!
The weight difference - wow, and at size 13 for me, it matters. Thanks.

would you mind reviewing the arahi 3?

Stephane Michel I find the 6’s sooo much better than the 5s in that regard. Write off the 5’s the 6’s are better in every way in my opinion.

I have already returned Rincon because of its inflexible upper.
Thats weird. I find them flexible
@@joshcontreras8821 By flexible, I meant stretchable. The upper on Rincon had very little stretch if at all.
Excellent
Right on - thanks!
Both great shoes but the lightweight upper of the Rincon gets the edge
Нормально
Which shoe is wider in the midfoot?
Please keep the background music low, it's really distracting, no help at all.
