    Put about 200 miles on my Clifton 6 shoes...and I'm impressed with how well they have held up....i even ran a tame trail half marathon in them.....will definitely keep them in the rotation.

    Loved the Clifton 1, wore them out. Wanted the Rincon but it was just too narrow. Went with the Clifton 6 and am running them in a half marathon today. They definitely feel similar to the OG. Make running easier and I love the rocker as it actually increases my pace without a perceived increase of effort. Great review as always!

      Hi Quenten, I bought the rincon but I'm having to return them as they are too narrow and pressed my pinky toe. How much wider are the Clifton 6s through the toe area?

    Thanks for another great, honest review. I have both Rincon and recently purchased the Clifton 6. I agree with you, after a few runs (5-6) in the Rincon I immediately realized the durability issue with the exposed foam and thought it would be best to save them for race days or an occasional 5k. I then purchased Clifton 6 for the daily training and it was love at first run with this version. Previously had the Clifton 3 which is one of my favorite shoes of all time, minus the rigidity of the upper material

    I've been running the Clifton for a few months. My foot is slim had alot of extra room that was not a good thing. Just grabbed a pair of Rincon and love the fit so much more and yes agree they are showing signs of wear very early. The sole is light foam

    I’m digging the C6’s for the slower days and I also have and love the Rincon’s for the faster days. You nailed how I’m using them in my rotation! Happy to see Hoka is listening to the reviewers like yourself as well as their customers. They have a great lineup this year. 🙌🏻

    As a veteran of trail running in the NW, I recently purchased a pair of Clifton 6EE after watching your review. The shoes felt like slippers on my feet, however, running on pavement sucked. The shoes are being returned and I'm going back into the woods to run the trails with Sasquatch.

    I LOVE this shoe- I've been a distance runner for thirty years and run 60 miles a week, and this is my favorite shoe in many years. I disagree that it's too wide...I ordered my usual size and the toe box is too big now- that's my only complaint about it.

    I'm definitely intrigued by the Clifton 6. After debating between it and the Torin 4.0, I went with the latter and love it. Now that I've gotten used to the foot shape I'm going to have a hard time stuffing my foot back into a pointy Hoka.

    I am using these shoes exactly as you mentioned, I mostly run with Clifton as I feel it has more cushion and durability. It the best shoe for short or long easy run. Rincon is for tempo ( again short or long ). already did close to 300km on Clifton, last one yesterday with 24k easy pace. it also runs well on gravel.

    I am training for my first Ultra in oct and I live in a concrete jungle. I have been struggling to find the shoe for several months now that can get me through those long training days on the pavement and I am exacted to say this shoe solve that issue for me. I do get what you are saying that this isn’t a fast shoe and there are some improvement that they could make. I did have to insert some insoles to provide a little bit more arch support bc I thought it was lacking in that department for me. However I do have a high arch so most people won’t have this issue. Great review Ginger Runner!! I love your channel.

    I switched back to the Bondi after the Clifton 3. Put over 3,000 miles on them. Bought two Clifton one repops and put 950 on one pair and just started wearing the other pair so I completely missed 4 and 5. Nice that some weight has been cut so I will give the 6 a try.

  • @KipCount
    @KipCount 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought both the Rincon and Clifton 6. Both were putting my left (slightly wider foot) to sleep, tingly toes and what not. Both due to narrowness. Rincon unfortunately had to go back, but I moved to a 2E in the Clifton 6. Agree with you, they need to make it just little bit wider still. I don't wear a wide in any other shoe, but it works in the Clifton 6!

    Clifton1 is my all time fav. With back problems and wear and tear on an aging body the shoe rocks.I do have the new version of the Clifton 1 and have 400 miles on them and they still feel and look like new. If the 6 is close to this i'm excited to try it.

    I have both the Clifton 6 and the Rincon. Ethan was right about the Clifton being narrow. I usually wear a women’s size 8 in the previous models of the Cliftons, but after trying on a Clifton 6, it was too narrow for my flavor. So I ended up going down 1/2 a size in a wide. But I do love this shoe.

    I actually returned the Rincon to get the Clifton 6. Liked the Rincon, but found it to be not as soft and plush as the Clifton, which is what I was looking for. Also, I had issues with my foot sliding around a little in the Rincon due to the lack of structure in the upper. So far, the Clifton 6 has been great and I am looking forward to logging more miles in the coming weeks in it.

    Great review as always Ethan.
    Highly considering the Clifton 6 to log miles for my marathon coming up in may.
    I have never ran in Hoka’s before but definitely worth a try. I do like your advice on Clifton for easy miles and Rincon for tempo. I would solely run in the rincon but the durability is a concern for me.
    Also, would the rincon be a better race choice than the carbon x?

    Ran the Boston Marathon in Clifton 1 this year! Just bought both the Clifton 6 and Rincon...I’m pretty much in total agreement. 6 will be my long trainer and Rincon for shorter faster days and possibly race days. Haven’t gone Carbon X yet, so Rincon may be current racer for me! I’m all in on Hoka though...overall loving them!

    Started with the Clifton 3... loved it. Clifton four came out... hated it. Never bothered to buy the 5. Had a rebound relationship with a couple of pairs of Skechers Max Road Ultra 3’s. Hoka and I rekindled our road running relationship with the Clifton 6. The 6 is back into 3 territory only with a better more quality upper in my opinion. Awesome review as always!

    I've got both the Rincon and Clifton 6 and like them both. That said, I won't be running in the Clifton again- it gives me horrible blisters along the inside of my arch.

    I used to be a Hoka guy. I became a big fan early on in their history. However, I've since moved on. I recently tried the OG Clifton 1, and it's just too narrow and felt way firm. I still run in over sized Clifton 3's, but I mostly just put slow miles into those shoes -- regular trainer. My new jam is Altra. Altra Escalantes were the game changer.

  • @thatisartnotpffft6368
    @thatisartnotpffft6368 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Got the sunken concave thing goin' in my Clifton 5 runners, also they are too narrow midfoot, and even narrower now because of the concave effect. When I first got the 5's they were the best thing for running ever for my knees etc, but didn't take long to sink. Goin' to try the 6's soon, or maybe Bondi, for the width and hopefully no sinking of the sole. In another person's review they said the 6's have more cushion than the Rincon, but that's to be experienced at the store. I liked your review and thanks!

    The Clifton 6 are my first pair of Hokas and I’m a fan. I was a little skeptical of the extra weight (I’m a Kinvara guy or otherwise lightweight trainer), but they’re a nice treat for my feetsies on recovery days. The Rincon seem like they would be right up my alley.
    Also, the quality of these reviews are just great. Even if you stopped putting out all of your other content it would still be worth the Patreon support.

    • @jeffthomas912
      @jeffthomas912 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@moart87 I prefer the Kinvara. The most noticeable difference for me is the extra weight in the Clifton, which I don't care too much about unless I'm doing a faster workout.

  • @bpg201
    @bpg201 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Timely....I'm about to take my first run in the Clifton. Usually and Altra guy but with a bit of a calf injury I wanted a bit more of a heel to toe drop to go easier on the calf. Hoping it goes well! Of note, especially since I"m spoiled by the wide Altra toe boxes, I do notice the narrowness of this shoe. But I think I can tolerate it....

    I come from Clifton 5 and I had to return the Clifton 6 due to fitting issue they felt too big. In fact half size down and the length is like the 5 however the width is a bit narrower. Had a really bad support from Hoka service center, provided several pictures and they kept saying the size is the same...not sure if I recommend this shoes. In the meantime I discovered the Glycerin 17 and so far I love them.

    I think the Clifton especially 7s are extremely narrow in the front, the toe box area. Seems as though the side of my normal width foot sits off yes off the side of the shoe! Anyone else notice how narrow these are?! My Asics fit perfect and my Nikes are fine too so I know it's the Hokas. I always thought of my feet as leaning towards normal to narrow width so what's up with Hoka are they trying to look better at expense of no space for foot to sit? Also, noticed the Clifton bottom out, meaning cushion no longer noticable at even slow running speeds for me when I'm warming up slowly. Let alone once I pickup my pace. Walking is great, and shoes are very comfortable if find larger size, I still have yet to try a wider size. A shoe I hardly see in reviews my nike air max reacts have a lot more cushioning and bounce than hokas, I just feel foam doesnt compare to foam and air units together. Havent found a foam shoe as good as asics with gel and Nike with air units.

    I got the Clifton 6 close to a month ago, my 1st pair of Hoka’s and I’ve hardly touched my other shoes since. I generally run in something like an Adidas Adios 3/4 which isn’t nearly as cushioned and yet only slightly lighter. Sure the Clifton isn’t the lightest shoe in the world but compared to something like an Adidas Ultraboost they’re lightweight. I’m training for my 1st marathon and fairly convinced that the Clifton 6 is what I’ll wear for it. I’d say my feet are fairly wide and the Clifton 6 is plenty wide enough (sometimes how you lace up your shoes can make a difference if the fit feels slightly tight). Sounds like I might need to stockpile these shoes in case the next one takes a random lurch in the wrong direction! The Rincon also interests me but I’m waiting to see what the reviews say about wear after 200/300 miles because nearly all of the early reviews have questioned their durability.

    What is the best running shoes for a former marathoner with knees that r well, just have way too many miles on them? To your knowledge of course. I just ordered the Altra escalante 2.0. Never used Ultra in the past but I've been hearing good things about them. Hoka I'm finding out is setting a higher standards these days. Any thoughts on both companies?

    I'm interested in this shoe as a daily trainer (would get Rincon but want more than 175-225 miles out of the shoe) but have never used Hokas before. Since I can't go into stores (NYC), what can I expect? Been in Saucony Rides and Triumphs (mostly Rides) for years.

    Very happy. It's the only brand that carries women's size 5 in wide. Regular, I agree, is too narrow.

    I have a bit of pronation and I bought these cliftons they’re great but I don’t know if the Arahi 4 would actually feel better I still have time to change them should I log more miles or do you think the Arahi would be better for long runs in this sense of my pronation.

    Would love to see Hoka enter the European market a bit quicker... can't wait to try those shoes. In London or in Milano, still impossible to find!

    I’m a Clifton fan and usually purchase last year’s model to save some $, but I might need to skip #5 and head straight to 6? Love others’ thoughts on if 5 is worth buying?

    My average size for running shoes is#11 us.(ex. Pegasus) As a new customer for Hoka, which size for the Clifton 6 is good for me? Thanks & Happy runs, Antonello, Genova, Italia.

    I went with the Clifton 6.
    Why? Because the Rincon isn’t offered in a wide.

    Wait, you're telling me that the newer versions aren't just a different color, but a different shoe? Is that what I'm hearing? That would make sense. I was introduced to Hokas with the Clifton 4. It was amazing! I have the highest arches a human being can have and I'm prone to stress fractures through my arch. The Clifton 4 was the first shoe I could do a straight 8 miles in and not feel like my foot was breaking in half. However, the Clifton 5 sucked. I couldn't go 4 miles without hurting. I thought it was because I was hitting it to hard and needed to back off. But it makes more sense that the shoe wasn't quite the same.

    Love the Clifton 6, I’m somewhat new to Hoka and to be honest the Clifton 5 is a frustrating shoe however when the 6 came out I was impressed at how soft the run was. I am thinking of picking up the Rincon however a friend of mine stated the rincon don’t last that long miles wise, thoughts?

    Hi! I’m a guy at around 230 lbs and pronate a little bit. Is this a good shoe for me or should I go for different one. Also have the Arahi 3 wich I love to walk in, but think it’s a bit hard when I’m running.

    What would be your opinion for someone with a narrow foot ( me ) ...... HOKA wise ? Forefoot is also narrow. I’ve small feet for a guy ( size 8-8.5 ). Thanks 🙂
