Very much a classic in my opinion. He still can shred those arpreggios really smooth and knows how to rip on the acoustic too. I remember as a teen listening to Alcatrazz "No Parole for Rock and Roll." Now that is a classic 100% fer sure man! I hope he comes to Portland OR baby!
Joe Lyn Turner has a beautiful voice that could make any girls heart melt and really suited this song.Tim's voice would just make the girls run from the room with a scream almost as shrill as his.
People are not being fair with the singer. This is my first time listening to him and his rendition is pretty decent, not everyone can't sing like Turner did but I dig Ripper's version ... rock on !
To start Yngwie's best vocalist in my mind is Jeff Scott Soto, who brought power and talent to the spot from the beginning. he wasn't outdone by Boals who did a decent job on Trilogy, and certainly not by Turner who's Rainbow work I love but doesn't even rank in my top 3 faves in this band's vocatists. His album was decent, not much more than that. That having been said, This rendition of Dreaming is actually rather nice considering how infrequently you hear this side of Ripper's voice.
who said the singer can't sing?he's one of the best in the business.he replaced Rob Halford for Judas Priest,he was the singer for Iced Earth.you guys forget that this is live and you have to save the voice for all the show, and of course he has a very high voice too, Tim 'the ripper' Owens rules
he quality of sound is bad in the camera!?!?!?!? are u kidding, this is epic sounding i love Pumpkin Priest's shows, his heaven and hell and jlt shows are epic
I can't understand the hate on Ripper on this. Mother fucker was suuuper in key on a monster vocal. JLT didn't have that intonation back then, let alone now. Ripper is a more powerful/metal vocal, I was surprised he was able to sing so cleanly for most of that track. I've never heard that from him before.
Ripper is the most powerful vocalist Yngwie has had since Soto, though I still think Soto is a little more versatile, the last 2 albums have been very vocally strong. I take nothing away from Boals (Leonardo is an outstandling song vocally), Edman, White, or Turner but I came into Yngwie with the first 2 albums, and Soto floored me. Owens is the only other vocalist Yngwie has had that even comes close to the impact Soto had.
JLT might be the original singer of the song, but Ripper does a pretty good job on it. The only singer I couldn't stand hearing singing this song was Doogie White.
ripper did a good job, but I dislike the way he sings (screams) the high notes 'until that day' (5:12). Ofcourse Yngwie did a great job too. What a beatiful acoustic intro. Great!
Ok, that was a suprisingly good performance from Ripper Owens. I saw this and instantly though...oh, this is going to be really bad! I definitely never thought I'd see him sing a song like this. That doesn't change the fact that I don't think he and Yngwie are a good pair at all. Theyr're album together was pretty bland.
you gotta wonder if it's worth it to be Yngwie's singer...lol....Love the guy and all, but how many singers has he been through...he should just go the satch way and only do solo work
Was a big name.... most musicians had him with his same musical ideas and same scales.... Fisrt 4 albums are epic... monster work... later only bad copies with no shine.... as a person everyone knows he ´s shit... hollow.... so became his music later on ... what kind of psychopat would be cheapskate with it´s own interest ?
not a jeff.too much vibrato and certailntly detonated.poor song.its a great job for a singer whom can nail de octaves but..octaves are not everything either..he sang like metallica may be..but vibratos are killing it.
- yep...i really enjoy yngwie, oy!...but sometimes excess is not best...the intro from the studio version is perfection....and while im at: I like Ripper...but this song can only be sung by Joe Lynn Turner....the bar was set too high for anyone to reach. It is a well written ballad sung perfectly by JLT....so i dont feel anyone else can do it justice.
YJM still by far my most favourite rock guitarist of my generation.
Me 2
Yngwie + Ripper = Music from heaven!
yes!
And from hell
yngwie is from another universe !! nobody can top him
Great performance by my childhood guitar hero, and awesome singing!
WOW........Yngwie looks amazing!! :D Love the singer,too.........Ripper? So glad Yngwie's still sharing his stuff with us! He's amazing!!

gives me the goose bumps
Only John Lynn Turner can sing this music.
Lipe Hitman listen to the trial by fire version
JOE Lynn Turner. But yes, Absolutely
Yngwie will always be my favorite guitar player.
Just wish he gave a damn.
Live he seems to go on auto pilot, singers now are very rough sounding.
Ripper sounds great on this song.
Very much a classic in my opinion. He still can shred those arpreggios really smooth and knows how to rip on the acoustic too. I remember as a teen listening to Alcatrazz "No Parole for Rock and Roll." Now that is a classic 100% fer sure man!

A god on a holy land wow!! love it
great video ;D best Yngwie!
Joe Lyn Turner has a beautiful voice that could make any girls heart melt and really suited this song.Tim's voice would just make the girls run from the room with a scream almost as shrill as his.
The section starting at 0:34 is from Vivace from live with the Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra album
Yngwie as always you are Beautiful
@anheiser I'm sober. Tim sang beautifully. And that's my opinion. If someone does not feel the depth of his performance, then it is their problem.
Tim "Ripper" Owens is great!!!
Man what a voice! Pipes Bro some serious pipes!
heart of metal...
The King!!!
0:04 yngwie takes the power from the sky... =)
Ripper sounds realy good.
People are not being fair with the singer. This is my first time listening to him and his rendition is pretty decent, not everyone can't sing like Turner did but I dig Ripper's version ... rock on !

yes
Ripper, sing a song more beautiful, dramatic and emotional than Turner.
It was after this performance, I love this song. Tim made her masterpiece!
true!
"Only John Lynn Turner can sing this music. "
Eh.
U must be deaf! Not even close to Joe!
Prelude to April
@theskatinglife Thanks))

@PumpkinPriest I agree so much!..... :)
so true
damn it, ripper should not be allowed to touch these songs
who said the singer can't sing?he's one of the best in the business.he replaced Rob Halford for Judas Priest,he was the singer for Iced Earth.you guys forget that this is live and you have to save the voice for all the show, and of course he has a very high voice too, Tim 'the ripper' Owens rules
God!!
Ripper obviously has a lot of talent, but nobody can beat JLT
what do you want from singer?great version.
@TheRyche69 No. This DVD for Trade only.
@PumpkinPriest I agree with you man!....
I had to miss this cz I attended Metallica in Moscow
sad but true
i'm dreaming of sammy hagar sings Yngwie Songs...will be totally rock and roll ...yeah right!!!
@PumpkinPriest well i dont have nething to trade lol
thanks for all the great shows on DIME anyways!
JLT forever very good vercion
You forgot Jeff Soto, but Edman and Turner are of course my favorites.
he quality of sound is bad in the camera!?!?!?!?
are u kidding, this is epic sounding
i love Pumpkin Priest's shows, his heaven and hell and jlt shows are epic
It´s the vibrato and screaming that makes it ugly!

someone plz remind me the name of song from 1:00 to 1:30
Vagelis1821 Prelude to april
@rockiniboepip Ha, yeah.
4:49 - 4:53 PlayBack guitar??
Damn! look at that wall of Marshalls!!!!! I doubt all of them are really working...love the song though;;;
@metalheaddddd AGREE!! RIpper RULES ! i dont get why theres people sayin he sucks
@Danyerd not true. it sounds bad cause he has the action to low! i can shred my acustic guitar and it sounds fine
Bagus Bro..
who i's the guitar player here he is kinda good her
Next reaction tell me,by yngwieMalmsteen, alif ba ta cover ,acustic play from indonesia, please, bro🙏🙏🙏
i think vocal sings fine
This song only works with Joe Lynn Turner as singer.
@purleygolfer are u kidding me XD
O.O ???
ripper did a good job, but I dislike the way he sings (screams) the high notes 'until that day' (5:12). Ofcourse Yngwie did a great job too. What a beatiful acoustic intro. Great!
Owen's voice does not fit Yngwie's song but his voice is still great.
tim riper ,sucks , has a bat vibrato ,but in this particular song that is one of my favorites , SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS .
That's not how a nylon stringed guitar meant to be played.
@anheiser
Fuckin painful
@AlphaBlast1 yep - it's a great effort but a hard song to do well. This singer just looks like a hot dog salesman anyway
Ripper missed a lot of notes... sorry...
@SergioWW1WW2 I do not like the singing of Turner. Ripper The Best!
JLT does a WAYYYYYYY BETTER JOB ON VOCALS !!!!This is BS compared to him
great singer!
but vescera rules
Andres Segovia would have told Msteen to slow down and get some feel and some soul into his composistions
You see ... there is no point for you to comment, make a video first with kind of 'garbage nylon guitar sound' and then comment ... Cheers! :)
Malmsteen is becoming a comic figure. And who's that singer?! sponge bob with a sore throat?
Voice vibrato excess
you gotta wonder if it's worth it to be Yngwie's singer...lol....Love the guy and all, but how many singers has he been through...he should just go the satch way and only do solo work

I didn´t like Ripper on vocals.

I didn't like Soto either =)
Nah, he is a big name and doesn´t need to do that,
but maybe he´s a cheapskate to hire good singers that don´t really need.
That acoustic guitar solo in the begging was annoying...snagging too much
- yep...i really enjoy yngwie, oy!...but sometimes excess is not best...the intro from the studio version is perfection....and while im at: I like Ripper...but this song can only be sung by Joe Lynn Turner....the bar was set too high for anyone to reach.
