Thanks for another awesome video Photonic! And thanks CrazySparkie for supplying the lamps! Photonic, I cant wait to see that gorgeous 30Kw Xenon short arc lamp of yours fire up, once you get your hands on a hybrid battery! I'm really looking forward to that one!
Have you thought about adding a second camera looking at a volt meter or something and then doing a picture in picture in the corner so we can see the voltage/amperage going into the test subject? that would be a neat addition! love the videos as always!
Sparkie!!!! You legend! You must have been in your filament helping out with these videos... blowing up lightbulbs and jokes about farts... no wonder you've been walking about lately with a massive grin on your face! Gawd bless yer.
I wonder if the spectral output of those sodiums shifts at all when they are overdriven like that? I know sodium has a very specific spectral output normally, but you can see a clear shift in the output. It could also be plasma or something adding to it or something, I'm not sure.... Another awesome video at any rate.
YESSS!!!!!!! Total epic yes!! More lightbulb action. :D Even more lightbulb fizz-overs & pops. You even got FLAAAAAMES! :D Very nice, Mr. Photon. :-) I was rolling all over the floor watching these fizz-ups, loving the screwdriver modification. That could've been a permanent fix if you'd made the hole a bit bigger, enough to poke a wire in there _AND_ a soldering iron! :D Haha.... ROFL & LMAO at _"Who needs a lampholder?"_ Yes, just lie the lamps next to each other. Wallop them with a few kV and look at them Glowiiiiiiiiiiiiin' :D Oooh, I bet the bouquet from those 'corn-cob' LED devices must've whistled a bit. :D Interesting smoke development from them. The sounds they made were proper ROFL material as well. :D Yes, so much fun to be had with old lamps. Crank them until they pop, stuff arcs in them, over-amp them until they explode, all sorts. *TOP FUNN !!* Thanxx for showing, Mr. Photon. :-) -BoomBoxDeluxe. _3rd February 2014, 16.41_
lol, I thought you might like that vid mate:) Good to see you commenting. I got a question you might know...Where on earth are the comments going?? one second there is 900 then 45 wtf?
Hello Mr. Photon. :-) I've also had a couple of problems with disappearing comments. Sometimes, refreshing the page brings them back. Alternatively, people delete the comment that they've just posted. Another thing can be that auto-spam-detector going a bit haywire. If you go to your Video Manager, down the left-hand side of the screen is a "Community" button. Click that and after the page loads, you will see the following buttons underneath community which are "Comments", "Comment Settings" and "Inbox". Click the "Coments" button and when the page loads up, you'll see a pile of recently posted comments. At the top of that page, will be three tabs called "Published", "Pending" and "Marked as spam". Next to each tab will be some numbers. Check the "Marked as spam" tab (click on it) to see if anyone's coments have gone in there. If they have, then next to each comment is a tick (press that if you approve the message) A trash can (press that one to reject the comment) and a flag button (there's possibly a range of options if you click the flagging option) There we go, I hope that helps. First of all though, do try to refresh the page, as I have also had comments temporarily disappear then reappear. The thing I find is, the messages most likely to be auto-spam-marked, are those with clickable URL links in them. Take care, -BoomBoxDeluxe.
I shit you not, i paused this video to get a drink from the kitchen. Turned on the light and it popped and sent glass all over the kitchen floor. Fucking coincidence if i've ever seen one!
Great vid them sodium's didnt seem to want to pop - tough little buggers but you popped them, loved the led pop and smoke it was brilliant, look forwards to the next vid :)
I'd love to see more electric motors get popped. Your old Henry vacuum cleaner motor pop video had me rolling on the floor laughing. I think it was the relentless stabbing with the screwdriver that made it so funny.
Rusty: "(Shy) (Rusty Wears His Summer Outfit And He's With His 32 Siblings And They're All Wearing Their Summer Outfits And Rusty Whines In Fear)! 🧡🤍!" His 32 Siblings: "(They All Wear Their Summer Outfits And They All Whine In Fear)! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜💖🖤🤍!"
Great video again ! I always wait your videos to come and today I was pretty busy doing school stuff, but had to watch the latest vid ! By the way I will soon graduate to automation assembler and watching your vids inspire me even more about electricity and working with electricity. Thank you !
at 7:00 you can see the fallout boy sticking his thumb up, interesting thing is it was actually a technique to see how far away a nuclear blast was and if the cloud was bigger than your thumb you get a lethal dose of radiation hence the game has fallout vaults where the survivors lived.
From what I hear and see, He's going good, not long now and there will be a full vid with all the family:) Very pleased with what we have done, I'm sure we have helped in a big way! Really amazing Thank you.
Andy, you are a top man. I am very interested in lamps of all kinds and I love these videos in particular. Could you possibly upload one of your old video that focus on the sox lamp? It features in your titles but I haven't seen it uploaded as yet. Keep the vids coming my friend, we all love them!
Aww I'm not getting email notifications anymore, a day late. Another good vid, I liked the last few clips the most, especially the part "what about a few of these in series" Then they're just laying next to each other lol. Not what I was expecting. After you tied them all together that was pretty impressive, the light, and mixed with the 50 hz hum. Must have been pulling quite a bit. And to see the sodium lamp break in half like that, I don't remember if they've ever done that in your previous videos. I remember seeing them just stop working. Anyway again good video, I'm looking forward to the next. Also cool to see you're really into lights recently as you used to be a few years ago.
The outer envelope is in vacuum, the broken halogen bulb inside it will still be in protective environment dispite the quartz tube is shattered. I once got a sodium lamp with shattered inner tube, hooked it up to MOT and whole tube lit up. Edit: 5:22 well that is called meltdown.
this reminds me i got some stadium lights in my storage shed. they are almost too big to fit into a microwave oven....a big firework can help enlarge a microwave oven though bwahahaha.
This is certainly the best way i've seen to wire lamps in series ;) And you wall looks awesome!!! I hate to think how much printer ink that took, but It looks great.
It was a piece of cheap Chinese crap, all the lamps were rejects from my stock (except the 250w son, that was photon's) and the fire exit sign was removed from my local pub!
Great Photon :) I´ve done the same with a few 150W sodium lamps but they didn´t poped and that at 400V12A or 5kW Sodium Lamp gets tested at 400V 5kW It finaly poped at 15kW or 400V 38.5A :) Fokusscience
Know what would be cool? An on-screen display voltmeter, so we could see the 'breaking point' of each item. No, wait. That would be a huge pain in the arse. Never mind. Keep the vids coming! :D
do you have any videos with a 200w UHE lamps? ive always wanted to see how bright they are. I would do it myself but I don't have the proper power house to run my projectors lamps free like how you guys do it.
Not trying to put you on the spot or promote another channel, but have you though of/attempted teaming up with The Slow Mo Guys and releasing a video comprised of some of the best explosion/slow motion worthy experiments? I think with the recent slow mo video they released featuring a low voltage plasma cutter they expressed some interest in further filming some more electronics stuff. I feel like you could really blow some people's minds with all the stuff you have done.
Really like the HV Transformer with the 2 insulators sticking up. LOL. Too funny to see that inside a room like that.
This is the beginning comment that started a legendary TH-cam channel of electronicsNmore
I approve of this vid running for 13:37. Nice eye on the detail there.
Love the sound of them LED bulbs when thay pop.
Wow!, now that is some lighting fun :D, good job gents!
Loved the flashover in the exit sign :D
rip dude
Thanks for another awesome video Photonic! And thanks CrazySparkie for supplying the lamps! Photonic, I cant wait to see that gorgeous 30Kw Xenon short arc lamp of yours fire up, once you get your hands on a hybrid battery! I'm really looking forward to that one!
Brilliant ! Love the audio of the protesting variac. The LED smoke emitters were epic ! Those Sodium arc tubes are pretty tough. but you popped it.
Thank you mate, your video's are equally as entertaining.
All the best to you.
So glad that you noticed the variac and not just us.
RODALCO2007 y
You should colab with the SlowMoGuys and get some epic slow mo for your videos!
That would have to be a first.
Series "positioned" sodium bulbs given enough high voltage to penetrate the glass, igniting the starter filament!
The exit sign was the best out of alll lamps!
Yes much better than I expected.
Mine too Crazysparkie63 and DragonUltraMater.
Have you thought about adding a second camera looking at a volt meter or something and then doing a picture in picture in the corner so we can see the voltage/amperage going into the test subject? that would be a neat addition! love the videos as always!
I had one but the x took it :(
+Photonicinduction that sucks
Good classic photon fun :)
That exit sign was quite exciting, you really got value for money out of that :)
The slo-mo at 7:45 ish sounds like a demon and a demonic laugh XD
even after 9 years at this point it's still a chuckle. thanks. ;-)
i dont think he will come back its sad i like his videos
Best and funniest channel on youtube.
Gotta love the british humor
Thank you for sharing another awesome experiences with us.
SWEET.... that LED bulb made some awesome noises.
10:45 thats not how you run lamps in series!
very good as always. brute force is the way to go
Sparkie!!!! You legend! You must have been in your filament helping out with these videos... blowing up lightbulbs and jokes about farts... no wonder you've been walking about lately with a massive grin on your face! Gawd bless yer.
Lol, I laughed when that led cob light farted. 😂😂😂
Beautiful X-ray lamps or cathode ray tubes
The LED lamps win my vote! Must colorful smoke!
Keep up the good work my friend!
SBF
I loved that second LED. Nice dual-color smoke! :P

Yes very bright and white, more like white Son.

Thanks BBD, I'll check but I allow all comments.
I shit you not, i paused this video to get a drink from the kitchen. Turned on the light and it popped and sent glass all over the kitchen floor. Fucking coincidence if i've ever seen one!
Wuhauhua that noise of the dying led lamp is lovley xD
Great vid them sodium's didnt seem to want to pop - tough little buggers but you popped them, loved the led pop and smoke it was brilliant, look forwards to the next vid :)

11:11 so much light, so much colors, so much wow.
7:32 It looks like the Pictures in the background are reacting to the Light popping.

Nicely done, loved the led burnout :)
Loved the little Outro!! I also thought for a second the "Smokey LED Cob" was going to implode the way you edited it.
Loving the videos man, thanks for putting my picture up.
Great fun and a fantastic edit. Cheers Photon. I will have to get some shit on my channel as soon as I sort the camera out.
lol, you were great fun mate!!
this is the only TH-cam channel I have notifications turned on......
More of the destructive mayhem we all love! ⚡⚡⚡
Lol, hope your venting that room! Plenty of mercury abound!
Nice to see you both having fun, keep up the good work boys.

As usual, great video!
top 8 easy and safe party tricks
love your vids!! the are just so awesome!! so much fun to be had with lots of lamps! thanks for sharing!
How's Ashley mate ? Sure hope we'll get to pop the motor of the bloody wheelchair he's in :))
From what I hear and see, He's going good, not long now and there will be a full vid with all the family:)
Very pleased with what we have done, I'm sure we have helped in a big way!
Really amazing Thank you.
Wow that first one was just Beautiful ! what a strange sight !
Those LED cob lights are like smoke grenades.
Andy, you are a top man. I am very interested in lamps of all kinds and I love these videos in particular. Could you possibly upload one of your old video that focus on the sox lamp? It features in your titles but I haven't seen it uploaded as yet. Keep the vids coming my friend, we all love them!
Excellent! Nice video editing on this one too. Very good work.
That was crazy!! I don't know alot about sodium lamps. Is there real salt inside and are they toxic?
exit sign was my favorite pop. smoky cob light was fun too. on the 7 watt bulb what are those colored bands?
The camera.
Wooo! 7:22 I can see my photo! Yaay! Famous!
Aww I'm not getting email notifications anymore, a day late.

Another great Video thanks for sharing. Good work. Greetings
4:06 蛍光灯に合わせてティン♪って言うのめっちゃ好き
Yes Andy, new video!
great video as always, spent all weekend with my hobby fixing my car haha
The outer envelope is in vacuum, the broken halogen bulb inside it will still be in protective environment dispite the quartz tube is shattered. I once got a sodium lamp with shattered inner tube, hooked it up to MOT and whole tube lit up.
Edit: 5:22 well that is called meltdown.
sweeet i love overloading light bulbs! Think you could pop a LPS lamp next?
Awesome video man, thanks for putting up my star :D
no worries man:)
this reminds me i got some stadium lights in my storage shed. they are almost too big to fit into a microwave oven....a big firework can help enlarge a microwave oven though bwahahaha.
Amazing as always!
1000 volts ... and a "few" amps , like .. 1000V with only 1 amp wouldnt be dangerous enough xD fuckin love it ! :D
@Photonicinduction you need a go pro, or phantom or something to capture those precious moments and explosions
I know:(
Loving the videos! make more things pop and release the magic smoke! :)
We'll put these bulbs in "Series".
This is certainly the best way i've seen to wire lamps in series ;) And you wall looks awesome!!! I hate to think how much printer ink that took, but It looks great.
@7:39 Whoa you managed to put the smoke BACK IN! Quick, turn off the power before... nevermind
11:45 - the frequency effect looks really cool!
On the first lamp
was that 30 watt cob LED lamp expensive? I've never seen one like that before, those sodium lamps were cool!
It was a piece of cheap Chinese crap, all the lamps were rejects from my stock (except the 250w son, that was photon's) and the fire exit sign was removed from my local pub!
Super! Thank you very much!
Haha I love that blast-shield, safety first :p
There goes the warranty and you let out all the magic smoke
Have you no problems with the mercury vapor after cracked discharge tubes? 🤔
Great Photon :)
I´ve done the same with a few 150W sodium lamps but they didn´t poped
and that at 400V12A or 5kW
Sodium Lamp gets tested at 400V 5kW
It finaly poped at 15kW or 400V 38.5A :)
Fokusscience
You have some nice vids mate!
Thanks But not as good as yours :)
Fokus
I would say add a second cam with welding hood lens so we can see more detail at extreme brightness.
how do you get the smell out of your house?
Was that the smell of the lamps or the smell of my farts, ask Andy he's still going on about the fart I dropped in Sainsbury's 3 years ago Lol.
Fantastic... I am lost for words. :D
Great job. Lets get to blowing stuff up.
I enjoyed that, nice one!
Know what would be cool? An on-screen display voltmeter, so we could see the 'breaking point' of each item.
No, wait. That would be a huge pain in the arse. Never mind. Keep the vids coming! :D
Smokey LED Cob forced run and pop I see Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle in the background ;)
Excellent vid again, thanks
Havin fun what more could you ask for !!!
Another great vid photo.
Proper job!
do you have any videos with a 200w UHE lamps? ive always wanted to see how bright they are. I would do it myself but I don't have the proper power house to run my projectors lamps free like how you guys do it.
light more bright than the sun holy shit epic I like
LED? Fuck it. We'll turn it into an incandescent.
Not trying to put you on the spot or promote another channel, but have you though of/attempted teaming up with The Slow Mo Guys and releasing a video comprised of some of the best explosion/slow motion worthy experiments? I think with the recent slow mo video they released featuring a low voltage plasma cutter they expressed some interest in further filming some more electronics stuff. educational and fun ... definately crazy too !
Nasty smoke at 7:37
Perfect Pic :)
you killed fluorescent lamps? what voltage?
I would bet you would'nt want to try that with that X-ray tube I saw in the background!
_@ __8:03__ That opaque glass rod (sodium tube) on the inside of that lamp makes a decent pocket-whetstone._
Nice video, Good Work
Let there be light! XD
Awesome :)
nice one, photon!
If "Megavolt" sees You what You do with the poor lamps, he Will kills You jaja. Very, good and fun videos, man.
