    Frankenstein video, I was expecting that gel to come to life.
    I have heard how people literally explode or melt in electrical accidents, now I fully understand.

    • @lorenzo42p
      @lorenzo42p 8 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      natural to be afraid of the unknown, it keeps us alive. do stupid things we don't understand and we end up not so alive. I tend to stay away from high voltage myself.

    • @MrDrury27
      @MrDrury27 8 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      The silent ones are more dangerous.
      Not that the "low voltage" humming one wouldn't kill you.

    • @ivanrodionov9724
      @ivanrodionov9724 8 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      is it only me, who likes humming transformers?

    • @VictorIndiaDeltaAlfa
      @VictorIndiaDeltaAlfa 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Yes, because high quality transformers are quiet, and old or bad ones are humming.

    • @ivanrodionov9724
      @ivanrodionov9724 8 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      VictorIndiaDeltaAlfa not nececeraly, the ammount of hum we hear, is directly proportionate to the operating frequency: this is why even the highest grade mains transformer still hums a lot under full load, and even the best grade flyback transformer (q-r mode) makes a really high pitched whistle (NTSC 15KHz)

    You and your calm voice and this setup seriously belong in a movie torture-scene:
    "Let's try 1000 volts shall we..."
    "Bit of a spark there..."
    "Oh that smells bad..."
    "Now enough of this ballistics gel, let's try it all over again, on your arm..."

      It's the impurities in water that make it conductive. Pure distilled water is a much better insulator.

    Good to see some electrically induced carnage once again, but you need a better camera to show us the true effects of that 100kV!

    Interesting results, I was surprised to see a lack of cavitation leading to explosive failure under the HV testing. It seems the material resists the sublimation enough to prevent the sudden build up of pressure. It's hardly an analogue for flesh electrically at those ridiculous voltages and currents as the water in flesh does not resist the sublimation and resultant cavitation causing explosive results.
    Also it's great to see you back making videos, and I'd like to compliment you on your engineering and fabrication on those supplies, they are magnificent examples of engineering.

      It's common in the electrical distribution industry to refer to 2kv as medium voltage. 110+ is generally "low voltage", 500v+ "medium" voltage, 5kv+ "high voltage". Everything is relative, when you deal daily with voltages up to 500kv the relatively low voltage of your home electricity supply or the boosted voltage of Andy's supplies as medium or high voltage. In consumer terms anything over 48v is "high voltage" as average joe isn't trained in the handling and safety of higher voltages. Now all of this applies to AC, DC is another monster entirely.

    • @VictorIndiaDeltaAlfa
      @VictorIndiaDeltaAlfa 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its always relative. In power transmission up to 30kV is considered medium voltage, and from 110 to about 500kV is high voltage. After that, there is ultra high voltage.

    I relate to your excitement in your videos. Enjoying the smell of certain burning components and stuff like that. And appreciating the immense power behind something. The dangers of your interests dwarf mine id say lol i like engines. Anything with a spark plug. You ever mess around with anything like that? Thanks for all the entertainment over the years. This has been one of my favorite channels ever since i was a kid.
