About High voltage and CFL, you can create a HV power supply from a cfl oscilator and a flyback transformer from CRT,you can use a resonant capacitor to incrase the frequency!
I have seen those bulbs used in TV studio spotlights. They are put in a mirrored tube. They use them because they give 80% light and 20% heat and when you're moving a spot light you don't want to get burnt.

But i was wondering if you can make another type of project that i have in mind such as a home made fire protection and find a use for it its so easy to make and it with stands very high amounts of heat more than a torch if i held my hand out after i flatend matireal and layed it over my hand took a torch to it i will not get burnt
