Mainstream scholars do not agree with the Aryan invasion theory. The term "invasion", while it was once commonly used in regard to Indo-Aryan migration, is now usually used only by opponents of the Indo-Aryan migration theory. The term "invasion" does not any longer reflect the scholarly understanding of the Indo-Aryan migrations, and is now generally regarded as polemical, distracting and unscholarly. Scholars now realize it was a migration, with an assimilation with the peoples of the Indian subcontinent. The Aryans emerged as an independent group on the Eurasian steppe in the form of the Sintashta culture beginning in 2200 BCE. Archeologists have discovered that the funerary rituals of the Sintashta culture match those found in sections of the Rigveda. The Aryans then migrated south and east to form the Andronovo culture. The spoke wheeled chariot is found here, which is also evidence for its Aryan nature. Many Iranian peoples have historical dominates the region, such as the Saka, Sarmatians, and Alans. Archeological findings of the Andronovo and textual evidence of the Vedas and Avesta also show how the Andronovo was Aryan. The Andronovo culture borrowed many traditions from the neighboring Bactria-Margiana Archeological Complex (BMAC), but did not mix with its people. We know that they did not mix with the Aryans, because modern day Indo-Aryans don’t have any BMAC DNA. The Aryans then branched out into the Indo-Aryans and Iranians. The majority of the Indo-Aryans went into the Indian subcontinent. There they first materialized in the form of the Gandhara grave culture circa 1700 BCE, centered on the Middle Swat River. The polished gray and black pottery, burial of bodies, metal pins used to fasten clothing, and terra-cotta statues of women are all similar to BMAC sites. The graves of the Gandhara grave culture particularly represent a combination of the Andronovo and BMAC traditions. Burial of horses is also something the Gandhara grave culture shares with the older Andronovo culture. In the Gandhara grave culture, there is also significant cultural continuity with previous Indian traditions. Genetics of the Gandhara grave culture shows that its inhabitants had a DNA component from Mehrgarh, an early IVC site. Then the Indo-Aryans spread south, absorbing the Ochre Colored Pottery Culture and the Cemetery H culture, both of which were remanants of the Indus Valley Civilization. Thus the early Vedic period began centered on the Sapta Sindhavah in northern Punjab. In the later Vedic period, the Indo-Aryans spread west, with Kuru and Panchala being the most powerful kingdoms.

      “Proto indo European”
so they retained the root words
      Kas , Kaha - what
      Tavo , Tava - you
      Sunus - son
While Russian , Bulgarian Started using “Tvoy”
      Dravdian Branch :

      Kannada -Nim'ma maka yāru?
      Malayalam - niṅṅaḷuṭe makan ārāṇ?
Tamil - Uṅkal (nin ) makaṉ yār?
Ni , un - you ( Telugu uses Mi - it had a sound shift )
Tamil uses both “Nin” and “Un “
Maka , makan - son ( Telugu uses Koduku, might be derived from proto Dravidian)
Evaru , Yar , Aar ( Aran ) - Tamil uses all these three words for “who “
That’s why Tamil is considered close to
      Proto Dravidian.
These are entirely different language families.
They borrowed words from each other - but that’s called “loan words “

European languages and Sanskrit all branched out from a common ancestor.
It’s a common misconception that European languages came from Sanskrit
      Because
      Sanskrit is a Satem language.
      (Balto slavic is Satem)
But, Latin is centum language, in short you can’t derive European languages from Sanskrit.
But you can derive both Satem- centum languages from a reconstructed common ancestor.

That is not to say that there has been no migration into and out of India but the core ancestral population of India has developed and maintained a core base of gene pool, cultural base, linguistic base and scientific base. That the dharmic/Vedic culture and way of life is indigenous to India. That there no north south divide and that some of the most prominent establishmentarians of this dharmic/Vedic culture are from south India.

Aayar means shepherd . Steppes people professed herding of cattle. Hence they were called Aarya by Tamils that became Ayyar or Arya. They were not Noble people. Lol . And one more thing. David Frawley is a fraud.
Sanskrit and Vedic were not the language of the natives of IVC or our ancestors. It is native tongue of only the few Steppes people. Yet this language is venerated for worship . This means Aryan invasion is true to this date.

The Europeans distorted a lot of things. Adoption of Christianity as a state religion from 4th century onward by the Roman Empire and extinguishment of local advanced knowledge systems such as that of the Greeks, plunged Europe and the Christian world into darkness which lasted till the 15th century CE. The Protestant movement led to the freeing of the European mind with subsequent awe inspiring advancements during the renaissance. Most ancient civilizations with a deep interest in planentary movements had known for millenia that the earth and all planets were round and that the Sun, not earth, was at the center of the solar system, it took a lot of convincing the Europeans to accept that the earth is round. I still remember in India, with a colonial system of education, we had to go through the futile exercise in the 60s or early 70s for high school students to "prove that the earth is round"!
We have bought into the Aryan Invasion Theory, hook, line and sinker! It will take a while to change this aberration. It should start with revising the curriculum at the school and university level and present the correct perspective. Most supporters of AIT, like Romila Thapar, agree that this theory is full of holes. Yet it continues to be peddled because of its political expediency

If one wants a very informed opinion on Aryan Invasion Theory, one can also, in addition to watching this video, read the following two books:
    (1) "Who were the Shudras?" by Dr. B R Ambedkar.
    (2) "The Sarasvati Civilization" by Major General G D Bakshi.
You would have concrete evidence to debunk this colonial era myth.

      Just look at linguistics !
      Indo European :
English : who is your son ?
      Sanskrit: Kaha tava sūnu?
      Lithuanian: Kas tavo sūnus?
Russian : kto tvoy syn ?
Bulgarian : koĭ e tvoyat sin?
Czech: kdo je tvůj syn ?
You can actually see how they all evolved !
Sanskrit and Lithuanian are closer to
      “Proto indo European”
so they retained the root words
      Kas , Kaha - what
      Tavo , Tava - you
      Sunus - son
While Russian , Bulgarian Started using “Tvoy”
      Dravdian Branch :
Telugu - Mī koḍuku evaru ?

The Aryan theory is the inconvenient truth that we need to fully explore scientifically and come to terms with if we really are to understand and progress as a society. While it's certainly impossible to irrefutably ascertain, the linguistic differences we see between Northern vs Southern languages are beyond overwhelming and suggest that they do not share a common ancestor.
That being said, it really shouldn't matter whether it's true or not. The important thing is we respect each other and build a progressive nation.

Pls stop this, I am of north indian origin and born in chennai and lived in coastal andhra, I literally find most of northern and southern language words from sanskrit. I know telugu, hindi, english. I have been to TN also. These theories are to break india. The truth is that whole of india is a continuous civilization from 10000 years. The only difference is the saraswati river dried up and we find ruins there whereas kaveri ganga godavari and several others never dried so the civilization kept going on.

@@vipintotla7523, that is a baseless claim. Even English has many Sanskrit and French words, doesn't mean that they all share a common recent ancestor.
Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam have an entirely different grammar structure compared to the North Indian languages.
I appreciate that you know a South Indian language, but how many North Indians do you know who make the effort to learn a South Indian language when the move out of the Hindi belt? Fix that problem and you don't have to worry about "breaking India".

This is a sensitive topic for many Indians as well since they have their identity attached to greatness of noble Vedic culture and Aryan ancestry.
A few questions that pop in mind:
    * If India's political boundary today also included all the ancient Vedic cultures (Europe, Iran etc) and was called "Bharata", would one still be trying to prove "Out of India" theory?
    * Why not have a "Out of Kishkinda" theory where forest dwellers of Kishikinda jungles moved northward and mixed with Indians living in the gangetic plain (sure they do have some common genes)? or an "Out of Mexico or Brazil" theory where European migration into Americas never happened but it was the reverse?
    * How does one account for the fact that Europeans and most other Indo-European speakers in West Asia DO NOT HAVE any (that is, zero or virtually zero) South Asian IVC-related admixture in their DNA? (IVC = Indus Valley)? Does it not clearly show the direction of migration?
I think an Aryan "Migration" happened and not invasion - IVC was already on a decline when Aryans came to India. Sure there were some initial violent interactions between Aryans and early settlers people in IVC, but that was a norm between different tribes/races around the world at that time and shouldn't be judged by today's moral standards (Classic books such as Sapiens or Third Chimpanzee is a great read in this area). My admiration for "Maryada purushottam" Lord Rama or Vedas still stands tall despite Aryan migration.
An example of invasion is what Putin is doing in Ukraine today which is totally immoral.
I do understand there could be a political ramification of this where a certain section calls "descendants of these Aryan settlers" (read "upper castes") as "foreigners". Many fear this has the potential to divide India and I acknowledge that sentiment, however in today's connected globalized multicultural world, people of all cultures/castes/races are "melting", does it matter anymore?
If one reads books such as Sapiens and The Third Chimpanzee, we would understand how homo sapiens around the world are all connected, and have continuously migrated & come together to bring about big changes in how we live since we were hunter gatherers. No ethnic group around the world can claim an “original” homeland anymore, including the aborigines in Andaman or in Papua New Guinea. People need to be educated about this and the one-ness of entire humanity and not fall into trap of "one group is more exclusive/superior than other". Ironically, isn't this what "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" is about which we Indians are so familiar with?
We shouldn't judge history by today's moral standards. History should be accepted as it is without any shame - be it good or bad. Glory of our ancient past doesn't become any less, and I am still proud of our Aryan forefathers.
In conclusion, I would like to say that choice of words do matter as it has the power to send subconscious messages when we hear them. The words "invasion / raiders / annihilators / barbarians" isn't the right one to use for reasons mentioned above - context and history should be taken into account as well. Historians have a moral responsibility to be sensitive to perceptions created by the words they use.

Even if Aryan came from outside, although I don't believe this, the ideas were born here in India and not outside, hence everything is Indian
    Now why it concerns ppl.
    1. West wants to tell Indian that all the Hinduism including even all great idea are not indigenous and hence nothing much unique about us, which is also reflected when they reduce contribution of ancient India and when they call our architectural Marvel such as Ellora caves and so many template as being gifted by ancient aliens.
    2. South Indians who call themselves Dravidian also wanna prove and feel secure that they are the original indian, even though they also migrated just somewhere earlier in history.
    3. North India, well they actually never cared about these theories.
    4. What concerns me ,this is all being getting political and nothing else, any division of any sort has only helped either outside or politicians. Also is reduced that we were such amazing civilization as a whole, such amazing knowledge and architecture we have.

So when aryanism gets busted Dravida word fades out. So I hope my video will enthuse you and resolve the racial issues of India. Main issue of my video program is to say that Ghaggar is not Saraswati but Ghaggar is actually Ganga river. And I have put forth several evidences from Vedas, itihasas, puranas to call ancient Sapta Sindh Valley region as Brahmavartam of Hindu lore. And ultimately River Sindh is proved by me as legendary saraswati river.

Aryans, derived from the original Sanskrit word Arya, means cultivated educated person, according to Sri Aurobindo, used to have very high moral standard with great regard for truth, promise and hospitality. Their sages, or Rishis, after many years of meditations and learning, derived some great ideas or hymns(Riks) on God and universe.
Recent DNA evidence shows that Europe experienced a massive population influx from the east, beginning around 4,500 years from the present. Several haplo-groups were involved in this expansion, including the Indian-origin R1a1a. This was almost a total replacement event, which indicates that Indo-Aryans, among others, expanded westward into Europe and to a large extent replaced indigenous European males and their Y-chromosome strata (Sharma and his associates, 2009)
This genetic evidence indicates that several Y-chromosomal (patrilineal) lineages, one of which was the Indian-origin R1a1a, gave rise to the modern European population. Out of these lineages, R1a1a is the most widespread and numerous.

    It proves that:
    1. The R1a haplogroup originated in India.
    2. The Indo-Aryan people have lived in India for at least 15,450 years, which invalidates the theory that the Indo-Aryans invaded India 3,500 years ago.
    3. The hundreds of millions of members (possibly over a billion) of the R1a family living across the world today - a very large fraction of humanity - are all descended from one single male ancestor who lived in India at least 15,450 years ago.
This discovery demonstrates the close genetic (and hence linguistic and cultural) affinity of Indians with the Russian and Polish people, the Vikings and Normans, and with the ancient Scythians and Tocharians, among many others (Sharma et al, 2009).

Arya means "artum yogyaha" , the one who can be approached for help guidance knowledge etc and relied upon, trusted upon, a noble person. It does not mean any race or brahmana. In Ramayana sita mata addresses Shri Rama as "arya" . Shri Rama was a kshatriya not brahmana, and was black in color. Shri Krishna says in Bhagawad Gita "anaarya-jushtam aswargyam akeertikaram arjuna" Arjuna is addressed as arya, he was kshattriya and dark colored. Arya is not a race. Nowhere it is mentioned as race in our million texts. It was made up by europeans
On the other hand, in shastras we find the term "pancha dravidas" and "pancha gaudas"- these are division of brahmanas from various regions. Dravida or dramila is always referring to place not a race - in all our texts

I recently attended a workshop on Harrappan culture and the IVC.
Wondering where I could post a choice topic assignment about the origins of the IVC and am glad that my research has been on the right lines.
The genetic study conducted by about 92 pioneers graphically illustrates the population genetic map and pretty much nails the facts down.
However a part of this Rakhighari finds is something that I don’t really get especially the lack of horse skeletons.
The ANI and ASI apparently show a different genetic pathway and some of the information presented here will require me to get back to the studies. It’s heartening to see the great work that’s gone into this and I hope more finds do come up with genetic outcomes.

There are two types of texts that are implicit (primary) and explicit (secondary). People (researchers) interpret implicit texts on what they think. Vedas and various books in Hindu mythology are implicit texts which were written in sanskrit, many scholars and writers over the time interpret their meanings on their POV rather what is written (fair enough we in maths do trial and error a lot) and that's okay. We do give freedom of speech and expression but the thing is some researchers and scholars rather than studying texts in sanskrit (it is difficult to understand) look up to those books written based on original texts.
The problem at least in India was (not any more) on how we approached R&D on any topic.
Let us take an example of caste system. Yes, it was mentioned in manusmriti but for god's sake at least read the original version and interpret under the guidance of a sanskrit teacher. It basically wasn't even mentioned that caste is based on birth. Do u know that caste system was once considered for whole human body?Like Brain as Brahmin, Hands as a kshatriy, Stomach for vaishy and Feet for shudra. It wasn't even refered for different individuals? No, I am not even Brahmin. I don't even know my caste. I don't even believe in caste system.

The Rakhigarhi samples contain no steppe DNA because they are older than the steppe migration. But present day Indians contain steppe DNA. So the steppe migration must have happened at a later date. But so far we don't know if the migration was a sudden event or if it took place over several centuries. We need more data.

The discussion is quite interesting and engaging but more than clearing the uncertainties it adds more questions. If we agree to the idea that there was no aryan invasion or any other outside community moving into india, then it will raise some fundamental questions about our culture and languages. What are accepted beyond dispute are
    1. Our ignorance about the language used by Indus valley people. Clearly the symbols used by them do not have semblance to Sanskrit script.
    2. The panel thinks that there is continuity of the civilization to the present. The question is if so, there should be some information about their language and the pictographic script.
    3. Horses are not indigenous to India and they came to us from central asia or from other places. The Indus people must have brought them or outsiders must have brought them.
    4. The population genetics shows gene mixing without culture mixing.
These are some of the questions difficult to explain. The biggest question of all, the continuity of indus civilization and the people still existing! If they are them and if they are the indigenous people responsible for hinduism as we know today then they can not speak Sanskrit?
