My last trip to Perhentian was in 1996. So many things have changed. We used to take a fisherman's boat to ferry us from the mainland to the island (Perhentian Besar). Meanwhile Perhentian Kecil was mostly inhabited by the islanders and the beaches are used for snorkeling trips. If you're not returning to KL by flight, I would recommend you to travel via coastal road and have a stopover in Cherating in Pahang; and experience Hafiz Friendly Firefly tour.
