- In this video I am taking a look at the Keychron Q1 HE, a new keyboard following the popular trend of Hall effect keyboards, the goal is to inform you on what exactly you can expect when purchasing this keyboard, and whether or not it is the right keyboard for you, and if it is a better choice than the popular Wooting 60 HE.
@KeychronKeyboard
I contacted keychron about being able to access the config page in wireless mode and they said its not possible you have to use it in wired mode. Not a big deal for me because i can just set my config once and then not have to worry about it.
Yeah not a big deal, but would be good to have
Does your setting get saved on the hardware? Or does it delete everything if you unplug?
@@Alp577 it gets saved on the keyboard.
@@Alp577 Yeah its all saved on the hardware. U just need the wire to make/save config changes. After that it works in wireless mode, too
Love the keyboard, great review
Are they coming out with other HE layouts? I already have a 75% and 1800 but I feel like the 75% isn't enough smaller to make up for the loss of functionality and don't use F keys in gaming
@@AnomieDomine there are 60% and 65% versions as well
Amazing content, I find your videos interesting
But wooting also have a 80% and full size version (Wooting 80HE and Wooting Two HE) '-'
That keyboard is on pre-order, and probably not that different to this
Wooting seems to really care about the consumer and their products. The software is also so nice to use compared to most other keyboard makers.
@@Matt54321 software on the keychon is great for the most part, only a few nitpicks.
The issue with the 80 is that it’s set up noticeably different than the regular 75% keyboards. The different key sizes will also heavily restrict how customizable it is. Wooting should have just went with a 75
@@Matt54321they didn’t seem to care that people were asking for a 75% keyboard.
In my eyes the product are nearly equal with them being pretty much equally good in every category. For me it is just would you rather. Do you want the best keyboard right now and not concerned about the material or sound go with the he. You don't like modding keyboards, go or the q1 he.
I feel like the layout and wireless connection convenience play a big role for non e-esports players.
@@TechTicals yeah i agree
the layout was the ultimate deciding factor when i chose this keyboard
even though I do play some e sports games this keyboard allowed me to compromise on gaming and productivity
Sadly this keyboard only supports their gateron double rail magnetic switches which means no swapping out switches for more thocky or clacky sound profile. I haven't seen much about the rgb on this kb either but wooting did a really good job with their per key and it's getting even better on their 80he
@@Icancontrolit hopefully they give more options with their switches, the rgb is nothing impressive here, also I hope they are working on SOCD otherwise it would fall behind
I love the 30g Dawn switches in this, but I'm still working on fixing that rattling spacebar.
@@NotTheOnlyMattAround i replaced the stabilisers and still couldn’t fix it, let me know what works
@@TechTicals It's frustrating, because it's the only glaring issue I've had with it. This keyboard is basically perfect otherwise. I've got a few possible solutions in the pipeline I want to try, and I'll come back and let you know if any of them work.
@@NotTheOnlyMattAround Try putting foam or anything noise dampening into the spacebars keycap, it worked well for me. After lubing the stabilizers that fixed it 100% for me.
I did two different things, with similar results. For both options, added a drop of additional grease inside the stabilizers and brushed a slight amount along the sides of the stems. Used a heavier switch.
1. Original Spacebar - Apply thin layer of Blu-Tack even with the ridges inside the bar. Then apply two strips of auto dampening foam on top of that, leaving enough room for the stabilizers. Added 4 tiny squares of saran wrap inside the stems in the bar that attach to the stabilizer. This sounds pretty darn good.
2. Ordered a white Nuphy GhostBar. Color match is excellent. Yes, it is a hair shorter than the original, but this sounds just as good, if not a bit better, than all that stuff I did to the original spacebar. I ended up just leaving the GhostBar on.
The keyboard looks so cool
what's the monitor that you're using on your desk in the video?
@@JINNY-dl5yk lg 27 inch oled
Can you change the switches and will it still have that snap tap thing or is it just the software?
If you are talking about SOCD, then this doesn't have it, and it was banned in CSGO, what this has is magnetic switches, you can change the switches to other magnetic ones
If you can't carry 1,7 KG in the bag, you shouldn't leave your home.
Hahaha, im sure everyone can, they might not want to
I totally agree.
wooting 60he is still the king video is amazing keep it up
keychron is really close to becoming 60he
Appreciate it
What does it do better than the keychron?
@@tetchedskate3366 its switches are still faster than keycron and razer might have killed wooting with a new update called null blind
@@DiaMondx2 I saw that with razer. Sucks that huge advantages are going to be locked behind very expensive keyboards
@@tetchedskate3366 what i dont understand nc
I’m sorry, but this is not accurate. First, you’re comparing completely different layouts, which is like comparing the capacity of a sedan to a bus.
Wooting’s software is far superior to any configuration software I’ve used. Their keyboards are highly customizable, and the ease of applying changes with immediate feedback is truly impressive.
The feature you missed in Forza and other game is called “analog input,” and Wooting does have it.
When comparing HE boards, focus on how accurate the board’s sensors are, how well the response time performs, how good the software is, and how low the true input latency is. These are the main points for HE keyboards, while the rest is modifiable. Wooting mentioned that adding wireless wouldn’t make sense due to the power required for minimal input latency. Their new keyboard will have true 8k scanning and polling rate, a first for keyboards, for what it’s worth.
I don’t want to sound like a salesperson, but their brand and products just make sense.
Hard agree. After owning a keychron for few years, I feel like their price to value ratio is still stuck in pre covid era. Almost no keychron board even has low latency 2.4G wireless support which is a huge bummer for gaming in my case.
There are no options for 75% hall effect keyboards, so the comparison is fair because people are forced to choose, once the Wooting 80HE comes out then yes, this will be compared to that.
A wireless connection is way more useful to me than milliseconds of delay, the delay of the Keychron Q1 HE is so low that anything lower won’t make any noticeable difference.
@@TechTicalsand with that you could’ve just bought a nice mechanical keyboard, that would sound and feel a lot better than any HE board. The whole concept of HE is in millimeters and milliseconds.
@@OldGinOx yes latency matters but 4 ms on the Keychron is already so good with a wireless receiver that trading it for a 2 ms wired on the wooting is not beneficial.
Things like layout, build quality, typing experience and connection type matter more than 2 ms speed difference, which is why the Keychron would be better for most people, unless you want something lighter. 🙂
@@TechTicals I've owned both the Wooting 60HE and the Q1HE. In terms of build quality, the Q1 is light years ahead of the 60HE. The 60HE felt like my Ducky one3 mini in that it felt very cheap and plasticky. However, for gaming the 60% layout is better, especially for FPS games like CS2. I ended up selling the 60HE as I felt its price didn't match its performance. I now use the Q1HE as my daily driver. It just feels so nice to type on. I also installed the brass plate which takes it to the next level. For gaming, I use my old Ducky one3 mini which doesn't feel that much different than the 60HE.
