Keychron has had force break mod on all their aluminum keyboards since at least 2022. They even re-released the Q1 (version 2) with a forcebreak mod because of the pinginess of their Q1 design. People overtighten the screws and compress the silicone force break to where the aluminum still comes in direct contact. If you have a keychron board and think it's pingy, try loosening the screws 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
I’ll also say I actually believe it was Scott from Keybored (a keyboard content creator) who invented (or was at least the first to show it) the force break mod specifically to help with case resonance back when the Keychron Q1 came out years ago! keychron got that feedback presumably more or less at the inception of their aluminum two piece boards.
Guess what its still pingy. Keychron sucks ass for its price. sounds like a tuning fork unless you stuff it with so much foam the assembly starts flexing upwards Luminkey is way better for half the price.
Very important to point out that Keychron recently added encryption to their 2.4 GHz connections via a firmware update for the dongle. This puts them leagues ahead of all the other Chinese brands as none of the rest have encryption. The only other viable options are gaming brands like Logitech and Corsair.

I bought a V10 Alice for work with brown switches and love it. Used to use a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard many eons ago, but after getting into mechanical switches, I was hooked on them, which unfortunately meant having to give up the ergo board. I've searched over the years, and mechanical ergo boards have always been very niche and way out of acceptable price range. But the Keychron Alice boards are actually priced pretty well. Well. Unless you want a numpad, then its double the freaking price. Which sucks when you do IT work and punching in IP addresses is part of your daily activities.
I must confess I find that (greyish) blue black combination of the Keychron Q1 Pro aesthetically very pleasing. And that curve the KSA keycaps give you as well. Should I get one just for the looks only?
I've been keyboard hunting for 5 weeks now and i've learned a few things. The hobby is a huge disappointment and pain in the rear. When you think you found your keyboard you find out its been sold out for months maybe even years. The used market is still bad because those keyboards you found are now going for double the price. Also, if you do find one in stock that ticks all the boxes the board is severely overpriced at $300-500+ its absolutely crazy. So instead of getting a nice unique board i'll end up with another keychron because theyr're in stock and have a volume knob. I wanted a zoom75 but because of how its sold its never in stock for more than a few days if that lol. But your channel has helped me with some pointers and definitely how to mod things effectively and on a budget.
this is my first enthusiast keyboard and i love it. i got it a about a month ago. did the tap mode and durock v3 stabs and CK pastel lemons and im super impressed! the web page is the most user friendly and has a tone of features. the build quality is also very very good.
Hi there, pls don't judge me, but i am new to this whole keyboard topic. But recently i've wanted a wireless keyboard for my mac which isn't to expensive. Do you have any plans to do a video on the Ajazz AK820 Pro? Or would you recommend it at all? I see a lot of talk about it in forums and it’s a bestseller on Amazon.
The biggest problem for keychron is their bluetooth connectivity. I am have a motherboard with bluetooth function avaliable, my mouse (Logi MX Master 3/3S) connected with no problem, my headphone(airpod pro / sony XM4) connected with no problem, but my keychron keyboard just cant. The keyboard with start disconnect from the PC, cant reconnect or when you type 1 single letter it will pops up with 10 (or even) letters. I have tried to update the keyboard firmware, my bluetooth firmware, but still no miracle.
i haven't bought a new keyboard since the k70 rapidfire released, i'm starting to do research to get a new one because mine is starting to die out. Why? Why can i not just get a 75% keyboard with a print screen button?
Wow, you really made the video right after I got my P1 Pro. No idea why they just made more appealing Q1 Max. Granted, I don't have a Q1 Max to compare to...but what else could this really be missing that's worth that much more? Also, it's BLUE!!!!
Obligatory please give your thoughts on the Ajazz AK820 pro comment. Seriously it's a $50 board made of plastic that could almost pass for aluminum with how thick and heavy it is. It's even got flippy feet, a LCD screen, and knob??? The software is also nominally... good? Sure VIA support would have been better, but most of this works well enough (not the options to change the LCD screen, that's a mess). But it's the sound that comes off this thing that blows me away. I'm using your coffee keycaps with HMX Poro Linear Switches from Kinetic Labs with this board and the sound coming from this is pure heaven.
great video, and I enjoy watching your stuff since I'm new to the hobby. I have tested a LOT of switches lately to start seeing what I like. Keychron, Cherry, HTX, etc. I actually really like the Gat banana switches. Gives me the tactile bump I like with enough click to smile. But not enough click to make my wife or clients gets made at me haha. Granted there are some others Ive kind of liked, but at double the price. Which isn't enough to want to use them. Its all preference, just thought I'd share since it seems like you dont like any of the keychron switches haha. One side note I couldnt figure out though, was what the difference in those super banana switches and the ones Gat banana switches? hit the topic for 3 sec and moved on and I really wanted to know lol. Thing I dislike about the hobby is how crazy the switch names all are and some the have the same name by different maker or slight different name.. I which there was a super index of switches.
I would like to hear your take on the Q1 HE. I like the idea of being able to customise the actuation point but want to know how it feels to use compared to traditional linears.
I'm looking for buying the P1 but I'm totally new to this world so I continue my research to be sure this is the keyboard I need. For you, what is the best 75% keyboard atm ?
Im in the process of buying a new keyboard and was about to order the MonsGeek M1 (the none HE version), but is this a better choice (not looking at price)? Will buy a barebone none wireless version and probably put some silent switches in it.
Man this is almost exactly what I want for my endgame - 75% non-compact layout, wireless with solid latency, HE, reliable software... but the case options are limited due to the layout being slightly different as well as no support for other switch options so I'll stick with my 60HE.
Wanting to go a little bit off topic. but I know I can find good answers here: Epomaker TH80 pro or Redragon UCAL K673 pro? I found some deals but I don't know which one to buy ! I heard epomaker are scam? Thank you so much
The configurator software of Keychron is a nice bonus, but it's very limited compared to what you can do with other Keyboards that have visual configurations, like the Dygma Defy or the Moonlander.
$34 to get a much heavier metal keyboard but without the extra receiver. There was already barely any difference between the Q1 Max and the V1 Max. The V1 Max only has one color too. I went with the P1 Pro because metal and blue!
I very much want an in depth review on the magnetic keyboards. There are others, but please start with Keychron QX HE series. (I am partial to a TKL and a Q0 keypad combination, but I think I'd get the point of a review with a 75% or whatever.) The rest of my comment is about the Lemokey L3 which I own and I am pretty happy with. Before that KB, I mained a Keychron K8 which I modded/customized, but was never really happy with. I have a Lemokey L3. That is a TKL, knob KB, with 2.4GHz, BT support for up to 3 devices. I have the Keychron Red switches ... which are "fine." I wish they were quieter, I want silence in fact, but you know ... real life. It's a pretty good KB. Aside from replacing keycaps and adding O-rings to make up for my own heavy handedness ... it's stock. Yes it has a force break, but I have not needed to open it so I can't confirm what the force break is made from. I can confirm it is ping free. Also it weighs a LOT. Much more than my MacBook Pro 16". Seriously it feels like 4Kg. (8.8lbs for my fellow Americans) I got an early version ... and the wireless features were problematic for a while - wouldn't connect or would randomly disconnect. After a couple of firmware updates it settled down and became reliable and "driverless." I can recommend it now. I don't like the keycap sets it had available... I don't understand the obsession with RGB backlighting paired with SOLID no shine through keycaps. Sorry - I think shine through keycaps need to be the default ... I can turn off the backlight if I don't want to see the legends. I ended up getting side facing keycaps ... a similar set are now an option on the LemoKey site. Mine were a set I got from Amazon, and I repurposed some extra keys I had from a spare set of the K8 stock keycaps for the MacOS function keys. These are still not "end-game" keycaps, but they are shine-through, and they have an unusual look that makes them worthwhile and eye catching.
I was thinking of getting a v1max i want something i can customize but with low latency they both achieve that should i spend the extra 30$ for this or just stay with the v1 max i never payed attention to my keyboards but wanna start getting into it
At this point there have been so many good Keyboards around the 100 mark that I've just lost track of them. Any chance you'd like to make a small ranking list of your personal favourites for different factors? Out of the box / modabillity / sound / feeling / wireless / whatever you'd like to rank them on?
i really hope they come out with a 96% version of this keyboard as that's what I mainly use and I'd like to switch to a keychron as my daily driver (i do prefer the numpad as I have it memorized and it makes it easier for any number-based data entry that I have to do)
Well I was hoping this was going to be a look at Keychron's hall effect keyboard but this was a pleasant surprise. Though I would still like to see a review of Keychron's hall effect keyboard.

But your channel has helped me with some pointers and definitely how to mod things effectively and on a budget.
lemokey costs 200€ in austria. is it cheaper in the us? or is 200 € considered budget?
this is my first enthusiast keyboard and i love it. i got it a about a month ago. did the tap mode and durock v3 stabs and CK pastel lemons and im super impressed! the web page is the most user friendly and has a tone of features. the build quality is also very very good.
Man... I wish Keychron releases those keycaps in market.
Hi there, pls don't judge me, but i am new to this whole keyboard topic. But recently i've wanted a wireless keyboard for my mac which isn't to expensive. I was wondering if there are any pre maped keyboard files which I can use, so that i don't need to remap my whole keyboard from windows to MacOs?
I found my forever keyboard, the RK84 is awesome, I changed the switches to AKKO Lavender V3 Pro and got a foam kit lubed the stabilizers and I'm in heaven.
AKKOOOOOO!!! YEEEEEEEEE
@@_pacman_1445 Lol

you should do a video shooting out a few different HE keyboards soundwise and feel wise! A lot of people have done the videos just purely on gamer things and thats it. Maybe, keychron, drunk deer, wooting, etc..
Hipyo, could you tell me what's the best 100% custom keyboard in your opinion please?
I'm no hipyo but check out Keychron V6 or Epomaker RT100
@@CrazyBRT thanks a lot for the recommendation bro. I had a look at the keychain V6 and the layout is perfect. But it looks a bit boring but that's the best one I have seen yet :)
Hipyo won't be very happy with keyboard with numpads
@@WilliInYT I like em because I use em for work all the time. It is a sacrilegious magic keyboard because my company is an Apple only one :')
@@CrazyBRT epomaker friggin sucks bro, look up problems with their keebs and you'll find a whole articles worth with minimal searching - they have crap QC and half the time their boards either arrive DOA or start malfunctioning within months, it's not worth the hassle ordering them just for a chance to get lucky with QC, good luck with getting an answer once you contact their support either lmao
Do you have any plans to do a video on the Ajazz AK820 Pro? Or would you recommend it at all? I see a lot of talk about it in forums and it’s a bestseller on Amazon.
Not exactly on-topic but, what's your take on the Keychron K2 HE? It's on kickstarter
ISO CREW LET'S GOOOO
Genuine question but why don't keyboards just use unsoldered switches as stabilizers? Wouldn't that like, work fine (maybe)? ...
so would you reccomend getting the barebone kit and buying switches to get the best value/build?
I bought their low profile keyboard. And I honestly think it will be the keyword that I rock for a long time
Yes, definitely do the Q1 HE!
Yooooo why can’t this premiere now! Perfect time (if you live in Australia)
wow keychron thank you for listining to Hipyo, very cool! Also keychron, can you please make a purple board thanks
(yes i changed it to purple)
i haven't bought a new keyboard since the k70 rapidfire released, i'm starting to do research to get a new one because mine is starting to die out.
I which there was a super index of switches.
please test out the lemokey x4
I would like to hear your take on the Q1 HE. I like the idea of being able to customise the actuation point but want to know how it feels to use compared to traditional linears.
I'm looking for buying the P1 but I'm totally new to this world so I continue my research to be sure this is the keyboard I need. For you, what is the best 75% keyboard atm ?
i recently bought a q12, couldnt be happier
Would this be a good second board to jump into, or should I consider the Monsgeek M1 V3?
Would like to see the Q14 Max (Alice Southpaw design, harharhar), but I guess I can wait 'til it arrives at my place xD
On amazon I can only find Lemokey X4 QMK Wired, which looks the same but it's way cheaper, I wonder how inferior it is?
Im in the process of buying a new keyboard and was about to order the MonsGeek M1 (the none HE version), but is this a better choice (not looking at price)? Will buy a barebone none wireless version and probably put some silent switches in it.
They need to make more 96%/1800 layout keyboards; I think I stick to my Asus Scope 2 96 wireless for the moment! (Which I got for 105€ new on sale)
I need a different layout (German). Is it possible to change only the key caps and switch the software to German layout?
I got my Keychron K10 Pro for about 150$ Canadian. Probably the best Keyboard I've ever used.
Low key want a north facing version of the keychron keyboards (I'm a sucker for shine through)
This or the V Max series? Asking for a friend 👀.
$34 to get a much heavier metal keyboard but without the extra receiver. There was already barely any difference between the Q1 Max and the V1 Max. The V1 Max only has one color too. I went with the P1 Pro because metal and blue!
How good are wootin keyboards?
Wow keychron thank you for listening to Hipyo, very cool!
Also keychron, can you
please make a lilac board? thanks.
HYPYO!! redragon is making enthusiast keyboards now!!!! pls review!!!!!
Now its on Amazon for $114. The prebuilt pro version.
I very much want an in depth review on the magnetic keyboards. There are others, but please start with Keychron QX HE series. (I am partial to a TKL and a Q0 keypad combination, but I think I'd get the point of a review with a 75% or whatever.)
The rest of my comment is about the Lemokey L3 which I own and I am pretty happy with.
(8.8lbs for my fellow Americans)
I got an early version ... and the wireless features were problematic for a while - wouldn't connect or would randomly disconnect.
I was thinking of getting a v1max i want something i can customize but with low latency they both achieve that should i spend the extra 30$ for this or just stay with the v1 max i never payed attention to my keyboards but wanna start getting into it
So which tool is used to configure the layout and the layers?
What is the actual difference to Keychron Q3 pro? Seems practically identical at least mechanically.
At this point there have been so many good Keyboards around the 100 mark that I've just lost track of them. Any chance you'd like to make a small ranking list of your personal favourites for different factors? Out of the box / modabillity / sound / feeling / wireless / whatever you'd like to rank them on?
@@6thXero yeah! I plan on making something like that in October! (There's a few more coming out 😜)
I have k8 pro since november 2022 and I'm still happy with it
Thanks for your video! Just wondering how is this one compare to the Rainy75?
i really hope they come out with a 96% version of this keyboard as that's what I mainly use and I'd like to switch to a keychron as my daily driver (i do prefer the numpad as I have it memorized and it makes it easier for any number-based data entry that I have to do)
Well I was hoping this was going to be a look at Keychron's hall effect keyboard but this was a pleasant surprise. Though I would still like to see a review of Keychron's hall effect keyboard.
I am looking for a budget mechanical split keyboard. Any recommendations?
