Some competition for the Wooting dominance is a good thing. I love my 60he, but I welcome more options. I personally don't care about the boutique aesthetics as much as others, but there are slight refinements that Wooting need to implement, namely key wobble.
The only based review of snap tap/SOCD on a keyboard. No it's not gonna make you an MLG pro. There are no get rich quick schemes. You gotta put in the work. Thanks for this!
My fav keyboard is my 3 year old Keychron Q5 Max. I've ordered the new Keychron K2 HE on Kickstarter. Can't wait :) Shout out to my second fav board the Nuphy Halo 75. Creamy smooth
Excellent video, mate! I've had a Q1 HE for about a month. It's become my endgame keyboard for work, games, and everything else on my computers. Adding 2.4GHz was long overdue and works so much better than BT. Another great thing about this board is its build quality. It's easily the heaviest, most solid keyboard I've ever owned. It'd be a helluva bludgeoning weapon if you run out of ammo during the zombie apocalypse.
These things are crazy heavy, and I love it. You should pick up my full size Q6. I had to weigh it on one of my work scales- 4.7 lbs. It doesn't move around on my desk much, and that's a welcome change over what I'd been using.
As a non HE owner of the same keychron q1 (v2) board (same except for internals obviously) this will probably be my next end game upgrade as I love mine. I just wish mine was hall effect too :).
I’m in the same position, I love my q1v2 and have been thinking about this as my next build. I have no idea if the upgrade in switches will even be noticeable but I’ve been thinking about a second build anyways
Nice i'm early, so i have some questions before there is too many comment : Will you try the new beta update for Wooting keyboards (SOCD) ? I'm curious about your opinion (It is cheating or not ? On which game it makes the most significant difference ?).
For sure, i'll give it a shot to see just how impactful it really is. Hard to give a firm opinion without testing it first, but my initial instinct is that I don't like how strong it can be and that it could actually create a meaningful divide between players than have a capable keyboard and those who do not. I think optimum's examples of CS (counter-strafing) and Overwatch (instant acceleration)are solid examples and be extrapolated out to other games with similar mechanics.
@@StruthGaming Thank's for the fast reply. Can't wait to see your opinion after the test. Already saw optimum tech about the Razer SOCD and it looked quite insane but i hope he will do an updated video about the Wooting for every SOCD settings in different games (also i hope you will also do it ;) )
Welcome to the club (in advance). With 8K Hz polling rate and amazing software / features update for every Wooting keyboards (look at the 7 years old Wooting One). I think Endgame Keyboard is the correct term to use (at least for the next ten years :D).
8k polling is pretty much overkill for casual. The data that is sent to the PC is eight times more faster than 1k polling which mean lower latency and faster sensor information. You probably don't need it to be good; the 60he is still a solid option but most HE keyboard are embracing the high polling rate. There is a video from Optimum tech about polling rate.
Im using a Redragon K617 FIZZ 60% Rapid Trigger Wired Magnetic budget version tbh im satisfied, there are clearly better but if you are low on money i recommend this
On Wootings you can emulate gamepad analog controls on some keys, and keep the keyboard functionality if the game supports it. Does the Keychron / software support this too?
How do you reckon the K2 HE will compare to this? I love the look of the white special edition... But i kinda want what would be my "endgame" KB, so trying to keep my options open.
Been trying to compare the two myself. The K series is the default series, while the Q is the higher quality line of keyboards. More expensive, but made with higher quality materials such as a metal case rather than plastic on the k-series. The flipside of that is that the Q1 HE is ~$350 AUD vs ~$200 AUD for the K2 HE
@jackdixon6681 yeah, I've done some more looking into it and have had a reply from Keychron on my comment asking if there's much of a difference between the Q1 HE and K2 HE: "Hello Luke, here are the main differences. 1. Design: (K2 HE has a compact 75% layout, Q1 HE has a 75% layout with a knob) 2. Material: (K2 HE is made of plastic, aluminum, and wood; Q1 HE is made of full aluminum) 3. Mount Structure: (K2 HE is tray mount, Q1 HE is gasket mount) 4. Acoustic Foam: (K2 HE: EVA foam, EPDM foam, bottom case PET film, silicone pad; Q1 HE: sound-absorbing foam, latex bottom pad, bottom case acoustic foam, bottom case PET film) Thank you!"
The whole video is a comparison between the 75% keychron and the Wooting 60% keyboard. Then you're doing a price comparison between the keychron and the yet to be released Wooting 80HE... 😅
Because it is not fair to compare a smaller keyboard to a larger keyboard when it comes to price. Sure you can say Wooting 60He will win price-wise, but you will also quite literally get less keyboard. Comparing it with a keyboard that has a lower size difference % makes the comparison more accurate, although you are right in that it is based on estimates of what the price will be.

Keychron also have solid update support for QMK VIA and HE switches. Keychron offers more elegant build. Wooting has a bit of an edge in gaming features, but relying on keyboard advantages is so toxic. Wooting is slow to scale the manufacturing while Keychron is more available. Wooting doesn't offer wireless that Keychron usually does afaik.
as someone who has been daily driving a Q1 HE for about 3-4 months, it is good but nowhere near as fast and reliable as my 60HE. Its slower and more inconsistent with inputs, but its still a good all round kb.
