Nice looking setup. Grats on your first AS. I'd like to make two suggestions which may make your life easier. I always wash my gravel before it gets anywhere near a tank. I half fill a bucket then run a hose until its clear. Secondly I've found it's better to have your filter inlet as close to the substrate as possible. The detritus tends to circulate at the bottom and the more that gets picked up the less you have to vac from the gravel. HTH
Nextime use a air hose and start siphoning water from a bucket. Make sure it has. A steady drip or flow and slowly fill it up then everything is perfect. Great job!!
Attaching anubias to the wood is done with fishing line or any kind of string really. Just tie the roots to the wood and after a few days the roots will start to wrap themselves around the objects you place it on. Then you can remove the string or leave it on. Best of Luck!
I used to get a driftwood in my 12 gallons tank but later I have to replace everything and take out the wood because a white slime a.k.a fungus coming out from it making the water on really bad high ph and producing strange smell on the water. Now i got a live rock as replacement and diy co2 making the ph stable on the neutral. I got sample clip on my channel of the before and after of my aquarium. Right now, i'm trying to grow all the fine plants on the ground.
Next time you have to fill a tank [big water change, f'instance]. put a cereal bowl with some gravel in it down where the fill water hits. The dispersal will be much easier on the plantings that way.
I used fishing line and you can use any type of string really until the roots take hold. Then you can remove the line or just leave it on. Best of Luck!
I have an Eheim Classic Canister Filter that filters my water and maintence is very easy due to the plants. The most I ever do is water changes and thats it. Live plants help filter your water and keep it clean as well. Thanks!
Yeah I would have done somthin like that but there was not much room and the glosso on the bottom was kinda not rooted to well so I just used my hand to disperse the water haha. Thanks!
The plants really filter the water themselves. It is crazy, but planted tanks don't require much work cuz of this reason. Plants need good soil, light, and proper CO2 supply to grow however. Can't forget that and plants will continue to keep your water looking clear and clean if you supply them with what they need to thrive. Love the Greens!
I did rush the glosso as I should of split them all up individually, but I didn't have any experience with this high light plant and that was also a problem I ran into as eventually I replaced with dwarf sag. I upgraded to a T5 HO fixture and soon I am gunna do a rescape with dwarf baby tears along the foreground.
Very nice, i'm looking to plant my 125 for my black piranhas, a couple questions though, how deep of a bed should I make with the flourite I plan to use and do you recommend capping the flourite bed with gravel/sand? Only reason I ask is I notice you did not.
there are chemicals if you want to get, within seconds the chemicals cause attraction of small particles they stick together and then get caught by the filter or sink to the bottom.
I agree with you and actually moved it all down to the lower driftwood as it did look out of place. And yeah I filled the tank up too quickly as I was in a rush :/ or else I woulda filled it really slow and I could have prevented some of that cloudiness, but that cleared after a few hours. Tanks for watching :)
I still haven't found the fish I want in this tank, but I am gunna do a rescape soon so then hopefully I will have a nice little school of something in there :)
Did do research, fish can be added after a week, but you have to stick with the scuedule water changes . My tank is doing okey, struggling with some plants, check it out
Hi, I'm new to aquascaping and I have very little experience at making a tank look good per say, so would you mind sharing how you attached the plant (anubias, right?) to the wood?
Overplayed I agree, but it's kinda catchy haha I just wish I could of added another song, but I was only allowed one song so that kinda sucked :( Thanks for watching!
Well I run pressurized CO2 so the ph varies, but I have very hard water where I live and the soil helped bring it down to about 7.8 and it goes down more throughout the day as the CO2 saturates the water :)
u have ada aqua soil amazonia right the nromal type did u top it off with the powder and does the powder help at all im going to have a igwami 20gallon tank and if it doesn't help could i just put the normal type all alone without those batches and everything
The water quality has to be just as good for plants as for fish as well. Both are living so they both would require proper filtration and fertilizers to keep your plants growing and healthy. And fish are the best part in my opinion ;)

Fast motion always makes things look so professional! This tank looks awesome.
I love the way the driftwood is set up. Really good job!
Great Video, I love the wood it looks so cool, Thanks for sharing, great job

Just keep working at it and it will come together like you want it to eventually. Best of Luck!
Yes I agree! I am thinkin christmas tree moss or if you have any suggestions hit me up! Thanks!
Well good luck with your scapes!

that driftwood is awesome
I used fishing line and you can use any type of string really until the roots take hold. Then you can remove the line or just leave it on. Best of Luck!
Turned out great, really inspiring!!!
Thanks for the extra details.

definitely christmas or even star moss would look good
I will look into it for sure. I would love to do the whole moss thing but not quite sure where to buy it from? Thanks!
HATS OFF !!
Really good job
I just have the normal soil but the powder is nice to have for fine rooted plants. Best of Luck!

Tanks ordering a few more plants to fill it up nice :)
Really like your timelapse. Just getting into this and you really make it look simple! thanks
it's extremely helpful for me. Thanks man.
It just settled itself out. Thanks!
I would have a 3 to 5 inch deep bed of flourite then just a inch of the cap substrate. Best of Luck!
amazing scape
great vdo grt music great job
Very Nice.
Awesome job thanks for sharing, Subscribed
Hey thanks and I will give it a looksie!
Thanks and what would you like to know?
Thanks, I have one live plant Java fern on some driftwood.... but the rest are jumbled.
Soak it awhile to get rid of them damn tanins. Best of Luck!
Great tune and I wish I could of kept it going but you tube wouldn't let me add more than one song :(
Do you have to have to worry about snail eggs on plants?
Not sure yet still trying to figure out a good schooling fish to add :)
Very nice, i'm looking to plant my 125 for my black piranhas, a couple questions though, how deep of a bed should I make with the flourite I plan to use and do you recommend capping the flourite bed with gravel/sand? Only reason I ask is I notice you did not.
This is such a beautiful tank :)
how to make ur aquarium not cloudy any more?
Looks great even on day 1
there are chemicals if you want to get, within seconds the chemicals cause attraction of small particles they stick together and then get caught by the filter or sink to the bottom.
How long before the ada can go with fish?
Well best of luck!
My splinter pickers help get them little roots into the fine substrate without making a mess of things. They do quite well my good sir :)
@ladystunnah27 yes. I too was sad that the music stopped. I enjoyed that track.
Glad it's working for you :)
I have a 6 month update on it now and yes the great Takashi Amano has inspired me to get into the hobby!
how many watts is the heater? who madkes it? nice tank!
That's one nice piece of drift wood!
How do you keep the driftwood's tanins from turning your water yellow?
Yes well put!
It was just my city water that had alot of oxygen in it as well. It only took an hour for it to clear up. Thanks!!
I agree with you and actually moved it all down to the lower driftwood as it did look out of place. And yeah I filled the tank up too quickly as I was in a rush :/ or else I woulda filled it really slow and I could have prevented some of that cloudiness, but that cleared after a few hours. Awesome ! Which fishes you gonna put here?
I received it from the ADA website and it is called horn wood.
Could you please tell me what the PH stays at with this soil?
I like it too, but I really like all green so I'm gunna do a rescape soon and try growing a mat of dwarf baby tears along the substrate :)
How did you seal the wood to keep the water from turning yellow and brown
I heard boiling the driftwood for a while woks, havent tried though.
Best of Luck!
Does anyone know how you get the driftwood to not turn the water brown?
You have soke the wood I boling water and constantly changing the water till the water looks clean
I still haven't found the fish I want in this tank, but I am gunna do a rescape soon so then hopefully I will have a nice little school of something in there :)
It only took about an hour for it all too settle and the filtration to kick into gear.
Did do research, fish can be added after a week, but you have to stick with the scuedule water changes . My tank is doing okey, struggling with some plants, check it out
A have a question , i have a piece of wood in my tank. But how do you keep your wood clean when its already in the tank ? ( srry for bad english)
Beautiful tank. what caused all the clouding in the tank to begin with? and did it really clear up that fast?
Thank You!
Hi, I'm new to aquascaping and I have very little experience at making a tank look good per say, so would you mind sharing how you attached the plant (anubias, right?) to the wood?
thats beautiful. Would it be possible to add fish to an aquarium like this? or would the fertilizer kill them or something?
Well done
You soak the wood for a couple of weeks which will get the majority of the tannin acids out. After that water changes.
Nice setup :) How you get rid of the milky water once the water added in?
Thanks! It's a good method, but better you describe about all materials and their substitute if possible.
Is it real wood or plastic?
what type of plants are the little ones along the ground?
It is kinda both. A fast forward of the setup and then growth for the first couple of weeks.
Taanks tanks!
This Tank is Awesome Man! Im so Jealous of the Drift Wood.. #DOPE
I bought it from the ADA website and it's called horn wood. These are actually 3 pieces fit together :)
I used one bag of the 9 L ADA Amazonia Soil
how do you call the plants in the back and the little ones in the front?? thx!!!
good aquascaping, what is the plant name for the floor at there ?
Hi I couldn't quite understand the URL for your Driftwood source. Could you please type it in here for us?
nyc one bro
Overplayed I agree, but it's kinda catchy haha I just wish I could of added another song, but I was only allowed one song so that kinda sucked :( Thanks for watching!
Hey thanks for the tips man appreciate it!
Well I run pressurized CO2 so the ph varies, but I have very hard water where I live and the soil helped bring it down to about 7.8 and it goes down more throughout the day as the CO2 saturates the water :)
If you notice how high the glosso is growing its indicative of he needs more light.
I think you are referring to the Anubias.
u have ada aqua soil amazonia right the nromal type did u top it off with the powder and does the powder help at all im going to have a igwami 20gallon tank and if it doesn't help could i just put the normal type all alone without those batches and everything
Live and learn as this tank has gone through a lot of changes over the last year and half :)
It is called horn wood and I bought it from the ADA site.

Hi just wondering what is the preferred tanks to use to start an aquascape for a good price? Can I used any type of fish tank?
Can't wait to see the finished product. Were you inspired by Takashi Amano by any chance?
It took just an hour after adding the water for the soil to settle out and the water to clear up.
