Although these are only planted tanks (no fish), I've kept MANY different types of aquariums over the years. My favorite was a planted tank, no external filtration nor aeration. Only plants and fish. The plants went absolutely crazy, growing and multiplying and the fish were totally healthy. It was so fun to see how the system worked.
srikanth soma Of course it is safe. I have several tanks without any filtration at all, just substrate (very fine quartz sand), lots of Java moss, and some aeration to make the water circulate, and it works perfectly.
srikanth soma I actually used aquatic soil (bought from a plant nursery) and covered it with aquarium gravel. I never had any issues with the health of the fish, and as I said, the plants just went crazy! I don't think I even had any aeration in it, and definitely no filtration. Oh, and the fish multiplied also.
I read your comment about fish not being allowed, but I can't look at these beautiful tanks without expecting to see fish. Where is nature would you find such a lush aquatic environment with no fish?
You can add some species of fish. Besides, planted aquariums (and to be honest most aquariums) are NOT perfect nature representation, are artistic views of nature. Have you ever swam in a amazonia river? You can barely see your own hands in front of you in some places.
number 21 is absolutely gorgeous, It makes me think of a meadow in spring... I never thought fish tanks could be this artistic, this makes me want to try Aquascaping
+akwabiotop Maybe in this one particular contest, but in most, the fish are considered part of the display itself. Some nice white clouds or cardinal tetras would make these really pop even more than they already do.
*Very well done cinematography & editing too. All tanks were impressive in their different ways including the last tank(1st prize winner). My favorite was the first one shown: Chris Helemann's tank 25, in classic style & heavily planted. Thanks so much for sharing these beauties!*
I found the aquascapes amazing the complexity of the aquascapes can certainly be appreciated. The use of Moss is incredible. I recently started a tank containing several different types of Moss which I hope to upload soon. Thanks for the inspiration!
The problem with posting comments like this is that the moment you post it, it's already obsolete. Why not just say, how could there be any dislikes on this video? Or what is wrong with that 1% who disliked this video, etc.
Those were amazing!! I've never seen any aquarium in any of these designs !! The designer isn't a normal person, he's a super designer with a strange and wide mind. Thank U for bringing this video to show us......
So well-executed. I appreciate the attention to many styles and the great camera work showing both close up and wider shots. This isn't just a video, it's an experience. Thanks!
Wow!!! And Wow!!! I'm a rookie still at research level for beginners. This is truly amazing, inspiring and fulfilling! Visual Orgasm! Can't wait to get my first tank!
Thanks for getting back! Some look like fairytale forest hiking journeys. The stuff that a witch might make to lure Hansel and Gretel to her oven-LOL The work is beyond words but its so rich to see its almost movie or set design for major Broadway productions. Thats about 1/5 of what I have seen of Aquascaping. Its all stuff that means more time indoors too. Sensational!
My favourites are the peculiarities I find the reproduction of real landscapes completely fascinating, I particularly like when people reproduce trees :D thanx alot for the vid its great.
These tanks are absolutely amazing!!! I never had a plant aquarium until I started a discus aquarium if only I could do something like this along with discus!!!!
Suggestions for lighting? A friend said the best tip she ever got was to use a Lumiy Lightline LED desk lamp to really jump help the plants grow. Super bright LED lamp with very low running costs.
Germán Rivas Thanks! :) In fact, this was my first video ever, made without any rules which are considered to be basic ones for a successful video :) Yet, this video got the most views and became almost viral :) Ironically, no other of my videos (made after I learned how a good video should be made) ever reached such a big success... :)
yes of course, as long as you have proper light intensity for various kinds of plant you can create a nice natural looking environment. For a 10 gal I would suggest the the 18" finnex ray2 with a glass canopy to sit atop youll be able to grow anything with that and your fish will look amazing, add some driftwood and/or rocks and you have a 10 gal aquascape.
This is a nice concept wherein an environment close to natural habitat is created. Your channel is good Shanta Manohar Aquarist Society of Karnataka Bangalore India
That's true, aquascapes of this contest were some of the best I have ever seen. BTW - Do you know that I have another YT channel, called "DefiniteAquascapeTV", and about 250 other aquarium-related videos there?
Michael Baker Hey, but it seems that you subscribed to "akwabiotop", and not to "DefiniteAquascapeTV" :) I'll not upload anything new to "akwabiotop", all goes here: th-cam.com/users/DefiniteAquascapeTV
I like tank N11. Looks lovely. Nice idea with steps. A bit envy to the fishes who gonna live there ) Well at least I would like to take a look at this tank filled with dozens of neons fishes
Takich filmów brakuje .... wspaniały pokaz i extra jakością. Więcej proszę jeśli chodzi o taki pokaz akwariów. Film trafia do ulubionych. A same akwa... nic tylko oglądać:) Pozdrawiam.
This particular plant - yes. It's Riccia fluitans, it's a floating plant, so it must be attached to flat stones somehow, if one wants to have it growing on the bottom. So people either use mesh, or fishing string wrapped around the stone, to keep Ricca in place.
Agreed, they are much cheaper than most aquarium setups! Heck, we give them away weekly just for fun, so there are many ways to get nice plants without spending a fortune.
The tanks are *not* transported with all the plants, gravel etc. They are provided be the organizers of the aquascaping contest - they are waiting for the aquascapers on site, in the exhibition hall, along with all necessary technical equipment and the substrate. The aquascapers, on the other hand, bring all plants and decorations with them, which is not so difficult :)
Mate, try any online aquarium shop, they always sell some driftwood. You can also go to any stationary pet shop / aquarium shop, there is also always plenty of driftwood to choose from.
Really? I thought this is the best music for such movie ever! Seriously, I like it a lot, it's peaceful, yet rythmic and full of positive energy... But, well, everyone likes something else :)
Absolutely wonderful. Well done. I would like some advise on the fertilisers, subtrate, co2, any other chemicals used and water changes frequencies. I would appreciate your help.
Small fish are doing great in large tanks, and you can keep a lot of them. A large shoal of neon tetras is amazing. But I would strongly suggest to begin your adventure in planted aquariums with a small-scale tank - it's far easier to maintain and correct if any problems arise. Example - what would you do if your 1000g+ tank needs 50% of water change, because of overdosing some ferts? (can happen easily for an unexperienced hobbyist). Start small, get experience, then go for the big thing! :)
@MrAlvaromunizaga The music is called "Jaracanda", and is provided with iMovie 09. According to TH-cam (see the notes just below the view counter) this is made by Joachim Garraud, and the title is "The Answer (feat. Margeau) [Original]". It is supposed to be available on eMusic (whatever that is :) ).
Yup, I agree :) But it's only for the purpose of the contest - such are the rules: no fish allowed. Except of that there could be many species kept in such tanks, of course :)
Depends on the aquascaper :) Some are using new plants, bought in a shop - but this is cearly visible in the aquascape, and such layouts usually do not win the contests. The best way to do it is to grow the plants at home, in a tank of similar dimensions, disassemble it, and then reconstruct the layout in the contest tank.
There are T5 fluorescent tubes in these aquariums. It doesn't matter what manufacturer (as long as the colour temperature is good for plants) - it is not only lighting which makes the plants healthy and growing. It requires a lot of work, experience and knowledge :)
Sherry, I myself want to start one planted tank albeit without any filtration. Is that safe for plants and fish??
srikanth soma
Of course it is safe. I have several tanks without any filtration at all, just substrate (very fine quartz sand), lots of Java moss, and some aeration to make the water circulate, and it works perfectly.
srikanth soma I actually used aquatic soil (bought from a plant nursery) and covered it with aquarium gravel. Oh, and the fish multiplied also.
Do you ever need to clean the tank and does algae grow? What type of lighting did you use?
The aquarium looks so magical and real. It's just so beautiful I think.
The algorithm has brought me to some old-school aquascaping! Amazing how much things have changed.
I love when tanks incorporate wood. It makes me feel like I'm looking at an underwater forest :)
Yes this is Very beautiful
number 21 is absolutely gorgeous, It makes me think of a meadow in spring... I never thought fish tanks could be this artistic, this makes me want to try Aquascaping
Beautiful, I think maybe a couple of fish could apart of those art too.. end of the day, these are aquarium.
True, but fish are not allowed by the rules of the contest.
+akwabiotop Maybe in this one particular contest, but in most, the fish are considered part of the display itself. Some nice white clouds or cardinal tetras would make these really pop even more than they already do.
+akwabiotop Would fish like Bass rip up everything in a tank like this ?
La façon de présenter ces aquarium avec la possibilité de connaitre le nom des plantes est excellente !
Bravo !
I don't know how they judge these they all look amazing
*Very well done cinematography & editing too. All tanks were impressive in their different ways including the last tank(1st prize winner). My favorite was the first one shown: Chris Helemann's tank 25, in classic style & heavily planted. Thanks so much for sharing these beauties!*
the last one is amazing
I found the aquascapes amazing the complexity of the aquascapes can certainly be appreciated. The use of Moss is incredible. I recently started a tank containing several different types of Moss which I hope to upload soon. Thanks for the inspiration!
I look at the monitor... I look at my tank... I look at the monitor... sigh... my tank sucks :(
hahahaha made me laugh
Lawrence Bader 😂😂😂😂 same mate! So annoying....
dxudgehbsgfeb
depends on how much money you want to heap in you tank and time is directly proportional as to result
@@malcolmmathers2690 correct
These are so badass! Just the plants, alone, look like a ton of work to keep...it's like an art.
understand that fish were a no-no but fish would have given scale to things - beautiful art work and yes this is art to me
I love the wood tanks and love when the substrate is covered with moss.
Why would 194 people dislike this???? Seriously
I thought the same. I guess some people just hate beauty.
I think there is always a percentage in every video that just misclicks the dislike instead of the like button :)
jealously my friend. jealousy.
The problem with posting comments like this is that the moment you post it, it's already obsolete. Why not just say, how could there be any dislikes on this video? Or what is wrong with that 1% who disliked this video, etc.
Yea zumbi its exactly people like yourself who makes up that 1% of people who dislikes beauty and is to orrogant to show some acceptance of that.
Those were amazing!! I've never seen any aquarium in any of these designs !! The designer isn't a normal person, he's a super designer with a strange and wide mind. Thank U for bringing this video to show us......
at 8:32 my aquarium got up and went hiding behind some plants and rocks
So well-executed. I appreciate the attention to many styles and the great camera work showing both close up and wider shots. This isn't just a video, it's an experience. Thanks!
i wanna fill them all with shrimp and tetra's so badly.
Wow!!! And Wow!!!
I'm a rookie still at research level for beginners.
This is truly amazing, inspiring and fulfilling!
Visual Orgasm!
Can't wait to get my first tank!

Not allowed by the rules of this contest :)
akwabiotop what the heck kind of planted aquarium contest doesnt allow fish..?? lol
Thanks for getting back! Some look like fairytale forest hiking journeys. I like the peculiarities category. Whimsical and out of this world.
I love the planted set -up in the tank.
your presentation is magnificent, very well structured.

Im getting back into the hobby...nice video
this is totally satisfying my brain right now. I think its the music
They were all amazing!
Thanks for putting this up. It was very relaxing!
Those fish tanks look awesome
The water is not becoming cloudy at all. There are good filters used, so after the tanks are settled (stabilized), the water is clean and it stays so.
This particular plant - yes. It's Riccia fluitans, it's a floating plant, so it must be attached to flat stones somehow, if one wants to have it growing on the bottom. So people either use mesh, or fishing string wrapped around the stone, to keep Ricca in place.
this is so coool!!!! i love pearling plants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

very impressive aquariums...i'm currently searching on how to maintain and create a good planted aquarium.
I'm speechless. great music too!!

Absolutely wonderful. Well done. I would like some advise on the fertilisers, subtrate, co2, any other chemicals used and water changes frequencies. I would appreciate your help.
Filter is hidden in a cabinet - it's an external Eheim filter, not sure what type exaclty. And the tanks have 250 liters, 100x50x50 cm.
Small fish are doing great in large tanks, and you can keep a lot of them. A large shoal of neon tetras is amazing.
