Sammy is, was and always will be the greatest of all time. The true G.O.A.T. I wish I was older then I'd have had him in my life longer. But I discovered him at 18 so there were quite a few years to enjoy him.

I was fortunate to see Sammy several times. Once in Las Vegas, Frank was a bit sick and Sammy replaced him with a two hour show. Another time in Chicago after he was sitting in a secluded area and signed autographs for about a half hour or so. He was one of a kind. RIP Sammy and know your are gone but not forgotten.

Many years ago, my young wife and I were invited to dinner at my uncle's house in Manhattan. He was a powerhouse agent and a good friend of Sammy Davis. There were nine of us, and Sammy was the guest of honor. He was so relaxed, friendly, charming.

Sammy davis jr.was capable of singing any song better than the original artist.i am convinced that sammy can perform anyones act,but no one can duplicate his.i guess thats why sammy davis jr.was considered the greatest entertainer that ever lived.sammy was in a league of his own.from robert, the s.f.giant fan.

We saw him in the 70’s. He wanted to do Music Man’s Ya Got Trouble in River City but his wife didn’t like him doing it. It was too physically draining. He did it anyway “because she ain’t here tonight” and of course knocked it out of the ballpark.

Sammy was a skinny little guy but a tremendous talent, he could just about do it all, but he would have never had the chance except for his friend, Sinatra, saying he wouldn't perform unless they let Sammy perform at the big casinos too. Sammy was a 4-pack-a-day+ smoker, and it gave him throat cancer and, killed him at age 64. His "friends" went in and robbed all his artifacts when he died. Sad loss of a big voice and a nice guy.

In Sam's early days he & his own family we're hired to perform across the Country for peanuts.. Sam & his own Dad & own family had to change in back rooms , basements & even in parking lots & alleys.. When Frank asked Sammy Davis Jr. To join him on tours , even before the 1960s Oceans 11 Movie numerous Club venues across the Country.. Frank Sinatra would tell the owners , club managers that were predominantly white people , My Family Members ( Mr. Davis) is to be paid above scale & have his own room , with the same extras as you give to me!! Or you'll be making a lasting mistake.. He would always reply to the White racist owners & managers by saying quietly in the ear " I don't ever ask twice & I don't ever give passes" Let's just say, you'll never see a TH-cam video regarding this subject!!! I was told first hand by my Dad, Uncles from a very Catholic, Union & yes White , Detroit, Michigan, Heavy Union Involved Family.. There will never be another Sammy Davis Jr.
