  • Here, excerpted from ABC-TV's "Hollywood Palace" show from October 1965, some great Sinatra-Basie songs, about a month before Sinatra’s "A Man and His Music" special (which was orchestrated by Gordon Jenkins and Nelson Riddle). The Basie-Jones Sinatra collaboration, however, later led to the Sinatra at the Sands album in 1966.’

This is so good and almost 50 years old. Imagine that Quincy Jones who wrote the arrangements and was conducting the band is still with us!

This to me was the best era for Sinatra. Basie and the boys were so truly talented and the music was swing and jazz with a very 60s hipster tempo and Sinatra, just kept getting better, more alive and his voice was better as he matured.
