This was my first recorded run and also my last one. Unfortunately, I can't spend more time grinding the game. Some important information: The run starts on a file that has almost 4 minutes on the timer. You can skip all cutscenes in NG+, but strangely enough not the intro. Therefore speedrunners prepare files after the intro. Also the ingame time at the end is 15 minutes longer than real time. That's because when you skip cutscenes, the game still adds the length of the cutscenes to timer (also very weird).
Yeah, well, That's how most of us actual Metroidians play the Metroid games (And those like it) Since most of us grew up on the originals back on NES and SNES. And not just for the challenge, either. Game gave you end game Easter eggs depending on speed and item %
Very impressive, BeardBear! Despite all the little mistakes made along the run, I think you did a marvelous job. I'd even say those little mistakes make it far more relatable, as I can actually tell that it was a human playing and not some AI who can do every skip frame perfect. Once again, well done!!

He some how didn't manage to counter the Emmi you can watch the background to hand counter there are also different grab and stab period different areas or whatever like the left right sliding not sliding
EMMIs are easily the most challenging and frustrating part of this game. The dragon boss in Cataris was a big problem for me too. I spent an hour and a half dying and retrying that boss. He was actually more difficult than Raven Beak, IMO.

Is this being done on a Switch OLED? I followed along with this several times in my playthroughs and your loading times were almost exactly 5 seconds shorter every time. BTW, very well done, and easy enough for a newbie to follow (although not as optimized)

Out of curiosity and just to have the knowledge prior, does dying and starting at a checkpoint also reset the in game timer to the time you reached the checkpoint or does it continue even after dying?
Based on how he routed it after kraid it seemed faster to just sequence break for grapple beam after kraid, and use it to get quick bombs on your way to burenia

It's barely been a week and people are destroying this game, amazing. A big run-decider in the future is probably gonna be the EMMI AI.
FR large portions are just avoiding the EMMI which gets increasingly difficult
The player’s ability to reliably counter the EMMI’s attack will be the run decider.
