The way it moves is so... unnerving
@@kirby2ds504 The way it moves like the way you mention and the fact that they’re robots truly do make EMMI’s quite scary
"Ohoho what is that I hear behindst me? Mayhaps I TWIMST aroumd and take an peep for mineself."
Space Pirates in Zero Mission? Just let me get my suit back and I’ll be kicking their asses in no time.
The SA-X in Fusion? Nerve racking, but still reasonable to fight by the finale when I finally have all my gear back.
The E.M.M.I? Nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope!
At least in fusion you can freeze the sa-x and theres (usually) an obstacle to hide behind so you can survive, but the emmi? The phantom cloak is limited, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
E.M.M.I.: **spots me**
First run: F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK!
Second run: I gonna do what is called a pro gamer move **Parries all the E.M.M.I's attacks**
The White E.M.M.I encounter was terrifying, the way it twists its body and runs after you, and Samus realizing her normal attacks to nothing to it and just running for her life.
Grey: Nothing (Just walks)
White: Spider Magnet (Can't fit through tight spaces)
Green: Morph Ball (Can crawl anywhere)
Yellow: Speed Booster + Shinespark (Fast)
Blue: Ice Missile (Freezes anything it scans)
Purple: Wave Beam (Scanner pierces through walls. Fires a ball of energy to stun)
Orange: Super Bomb (Blows up)
Grey is damaged to it's ability is disabled as you can see from the start
Grey either had an ability that got taken by Raven Beak or it was just the main Emmi that is linked to the others and this allows him to hack it and connect it to his Mother-Brain-Copies
The EMMIs are such a cool mechanic and are very well executed
An unstoppable force that doesn’t give you a single minute to breathe as long as you’re in its designated area, with each of them having fitting abilities to match
Not to mention that the red one in particular showcasing how far Samus has come over the course of the game, with you actually being able to overpower it unlike all the other EMMI variants
Yeah, Imma have to hard disagree with this. I hate the EMMIs. They're a horror mechanic that's implemented into a non horror game. They just do not fit in with Metroid's world. And before you say, "Well, the SA-X is also a horror mechanic in a non horror game," you aren't ever forced to interact with the SA-X before you're powerful enough to withstand its assault. And even if you aren't and you get caught out, your punishment is a large chunk of health lost, not an instant game over with basically zero counterplay.
Plus, the SA-X is an amazing narrative element to show how powerful the X parasites are. What narrative purpose do the EMMI serve? None. They're just a means to an end for Raven Beak.
@@noahcarroll4944 thing is, Metroid isn’t a series to stray away from futuristic technology and dark themes, so saying they don’t fit in Metroid’s world just blatantly doesn’t feel accurate, especially with them literally being the DREAD part of Metroid DREAD, you fear them until you finally get the opportunity to fight back, forced into a corner but with the one and only method of actually fighting them, you sneak around them, quivering and hiding until that overwhelming sense of relief upon taking them down
There’s meant to be next to no counterplay, they’d feel less threatening and there would be less payoff if you could just shoot them a bunch and they’d go away with no real consequences for yourself
@plaguelord22 You couldn't shoot the SA-X at all until you got the ice missiles, and even then, it doesn't stay frozen for long, so you still had to run for your life, but there was plenty of counterplay for it. What counterplay is there to the EMMIs? None.
Also, sure they may be the actual mechanism of dread in this game, but at the end of the day, you know that they aren't the actual threat. Raven Beak is the ultimate threat. Which just makes the EMMIs completely inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, especially compared to the SA-X, which is the final boss fight in Fusion. (Omega Metroid is basically a plot boss, nothing more.) And the game builds up to the boss fight for the entire game, as most of the game is trying to get armaments to combat it. The EMMIs don't have any build up besides trying to find the control core and getting the same damn omega cannon.
Ironically enough, the last EMMI is the easiest to deal with. It’s just a matter of opening every type of door the game can throw at you to outrun it and get to the end of the hallway. From there, you have the perfect vantage point since the raised platform puts the EMMI’s faceplate perfectly in line with the default angle of the arm canon, so you don’t even have to aim. There’s plenty of time to melt the face plate, charge the Omega Canon, and hit the mark.
Not counting the actual last EMMI which is encountered and defeated in a cutscene
If you're really good, you don't even have to open all the doors since you can blast it's face plate off close to the 3 destructible blocks at the beginning after getting at bit of distance for more time to shoot. By the time you get halfway, you can shoot it's face off and be done
I thought this but the first time I tried it, it stood up right as I was firing the charged Omega Cannon. Didn't have enough time left for a second shot, but did get it right the second time.
Bruh the last one is the easiest. Honestly I found the first one the hardest 😂
UGHH that yellow one is the stuff of nightmares
I love how the blue E.M.M.I was like, "HAHA bitch! Thought I was going to come through the door, huh?!"
For the people claiming that this person's aiming is hot trash, I personally don't mind. It gives a sense of realism that adds a lot more tension to these encounters. You can visually acknowledge the struggle of a person trying to survive these murdering machines, rather than just a bot that blasts through everything flawlessly.
Edit: How'd I get 400 likes from an outdated comment- ;-;
Thank you, besides chances are this was a recording of their first time playing
i’m sorry he’s still trash, Samus, a skilled bounty hunter, would know how to aim at a slow moving target and even when i played on my first time i did way better, so did many other people i know since using the directional button is common sense
I mean, we’ve all been down that path before at some point or another.
@@noxturne16 Not everyone's an expert. And people shouldn't always expect that from every player. And we're playing as Samus. It is correct that Samus would know what to do, but in a real-world sense, we're the ones doing the aiming. E.M.M.I. is there to represent the feeling a dread of being hunted by an enemy that cannot be destroyed by any of Samus's arsenal and has to rely on a powerful Omega Cannon to get rid of them. Even then, your aim has to be true enough to destroy the plating with the Omega Stream and finish them off with a powerful shot. Not easy to do for some players and first-timers who have to do this while each E.M.M.I. advances towards them, each one more difficult than the last. Sure, I did a better job than most players, but there were times I just messed up the shot, or I didn't get too much distance which costed me a game over when I failed the Quick-Time.
The scariest part was when you encounter the purple EMMI in water without gravity suit to deal with. Such pain!!
Grey (the broken one): since it’s broken we don’t know what it’s ability was exactly.
White: Climbing
Green: Crawling
Yellow: Speed
Blue: Freeze
Purple: Increased detection and stun
Red: Explosion
in the files the broken emmi is considered proto, likely meaning prototype, and it makes sense a prototype doesnt have anything unique 😁
@@taiyana5194 hm that makes sense, but that begs the question. Why would they send a prototype?
@@taiyana5194 That or Raven Beak really fucked it up so bad that it couldn’t access its ability. It couldn’t even climb anymore.
@@zackerymoyano Honestly i wouldnt be surprised with everything else raven beak has fucked up
My theory is that the reason why these Emmi had abilities for Samus is because Samus sold some of her Upgrades to the Scientists that work for the Federation, this way they could improve their own Equipment with the Chozo Equipment.
This could also be the explaination why they were able to send specific weapon data to Samus in Metroid Fusion, these are Compatible to her Chozo-Power-Suit, and so there were able to give her Upgrades like Super Missiles and so on while other Equipment like Beams or the Varia Suit were stolen by X-Cores.
Real talk, I haven't been scared of a video game enemy since Mr. Shakedown from Yakuza 0
@@jeffcarroll1990shock someone had to say it and it might as well be me, no one gives a shit about a random dude on the internet not being scared of a videogame enemy
Raven Beak (After severely damaging EMMI 1): Pathetic.
Their like a deadlier version of guardians from botw.
The fact that emmi means a paternal uncle in my native language makes the comments here kinda funny to read for me.
2:03
DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING!!!
From the looks of it, the E.M.M.I appeared out of thin air from the door.
Also he even tried to open the door with his gun but the E.M.M.I opened it.
Once each one is defeated, you can explore the entire area freely without worrying about them being hot on your tail.
Even though I had almost finished super Metroid before this came out, I still considered myself a Metroid rookie when I bought this game. I played on normal difficulty and I had a difficult time timing the counter for a bit. Needless to say the E.M.M.I.s haunted my dreams for a little while. I can't wait to play this one again in hard mode but right now I'm still loving the prime remaster.
These robot boss battles are so good this game is well made and it feels alive.
I have a friend called Emilio we call him emmi for short so it’s weird for me to think that this became an actual character
What's with those aimings...? Like bro
For some reason a lot of people do this weird thing in this game where once the camera angle shifts so you can shoot the EMMI, they try to aim using just up and down on the analog stick without continuing to hold the right directional as they would if they were shooting regularly. You can see them doing exactly that in this video with the way their aim drastically snaps from neutral to so high up and so far low
They might be using joy-cons which is hard as shit to aim with compared to a pro controller.
@@zackerymoyano i use joy cons and i can assure you, they're just bad at aiming. How did they finish the game is beyond me. But there's an easy mode, so maybe that's the answer
Bro I can tell you were panicking with way you were using morph ball..
It just stabs you in the neck? Brutal
It also aims for the part between the collar bone and the center of your chest if it can’t get your neck which is painfully worse.
@@trainerlsw and since cloning technology exists in the Metroid universe, they likely aren't programmed to make the extraction procedure nonlethal
13:03. This happened to me after a number of cycles of it coming across the ceiling and me just butchering the aim. When it popped up from the floor instead of coming over the ceiling, my mom, who was watching, and I both screamed. XD
Purple is the only one I have left… Just seeing it flash across the screen absolutely TERRIFIES me. I already got over my fear of BotW guardians after spending 80 hours on the plateau over 1 year thinking the bomb shrine was a guardian and not knowing how to get the other towers or shrines… then 40 more hours only in Necluda (Hateno, Kakariko, Dueling Peaks.) now nothing stands a chance against me, lol. But seeing as I still need the phazon suit and it becomes even more terrifying… I’m not prepared… Please help me… The first 4 Emmi I got done in a week. The blue one…. Put off for a few months. It’s been a few more months… I need help with purple…
For the purple emmi try using the Phantom cloak as possible but if it spots you just run and get to the exit also use the grappler beam it helps in underwater sections
@@Cubeguythethird27 Good to know! I beat the annoying experiment boss and I’m not even sure if I went to the right place after the robot duo, but I’ll look up the speedrun to make sure and then get the omega canon, hopefully
That purple EMMI battle was painfully tedious
After you get the Omega Blaster/“Checkmate Cannon”, put yourself in front of a door, so you have an escape route in case they get too close.
E.M.M.I for smash
It would be neat to have a Great Cave Offensive style arena based off the EMMI zones. Every so often one of them will pop in and do something different. They won't explicitly come after the fighters, but they'll be like the Ultimate Chimera in that coming in contact will hurt, assuming it doesn't outright kill you. Silver one will kinda just trudge along the lowest point in the arena. White will crawl around like normal. Green will pop in and out of vents Among Us style. Yellow will dash across different parts of the stage in a relatively straight line. Blue will be similar to white, but will stop once or twice to wave its ice beam around. Purple will go into the middle of the arena and fire projectiles at random fighters. And orange will just drop an explosive item and go on its way.
Love how Samus is one of the most bad#ss video game characters ever and fights a genocidal space dragon but if she see an E.M.M.I she just says “f#ck this sh#t I’m out”
And she’s right us E.M.M.I’s are one of the scariest things to ever exist
Specially when you encounter the purple ones in water without gravity suit. Such pain!
2:04 tf2 heavy: You are dead, not big surprise!
Haven’t been this scared of a robot since FNAF
You encountered a wild E.M.M.I!
I wonder what happened to the black EMMI that left it in that condition
According the Chozo Memories, Raven Beak busted it up. He didn't even use his gun from the looks of it, he just beat the thing bare handed. No wonder he thinks so highly of his battle process.
@@dragonstormx The battle prowess of a Chozo Warlord is not to be scoffed at. Kriad and EMMI-01 can attest.
@@chaosinc.382 Raven Beak certainly didn't survive the outbreak of X-Parasites that wiped out his army by being easy to kill.

im on the purple emmi rn and he wilding wondering why there isnt 1 more emmi, atm tho
I feel like this game has more horror elements than in previous Metroid games.
Samus! You did it!!! 12:10 😁😁😁
Emmi was based off a robot called AMEE from the 2000 film Red Planet which makes similar sounds to EMMI and has a very similar design
I both like AMEE and EMMI
Bro I love these things
5:45 Glad to see I'm not the only one having fun with the aim on this game haha.
An E.M.M.I. is the most tense boss ever
4:58 I still think this thing Is based off of the Demogorgan from stranger things. The sounds and how it look just makes it seems like that's what they were going for.
@@frankkahlfus1431 Yeah, these things are relatively similar to AMEE. Difference is one has a big-ass needle and the other has martial arts protocols.
Emmi is a scariest robot
Were you using day one joycons to aim?
The Mandalorian season three episode two brought me here , these robots remind me of What i saw in the episode
Starting from the yellow Emmi and after I had to actually avoid them and cloak myself they were getting more difficult than the white and green one
The things that named this game.

First Metroid game I couldn’t get into because of the Emmis.
I would agree that it did get a bit frustrating at times- the whole game in general, but that just made it all the more rewarding for when you beat a boss 🙂
I really hate being chased by E.M.M.I every time I see them I will have ptsd and get spotted and caught by them and die
Does any one else realize he forgot the red/orange one?
This has to be one of the most frustrating videos I've ever watched
I know, like i feel kinda cheated about the Emmi, there were like 6 Emmi's you can fight, one of which is a tutorial Emmi and one Emmi that basically destroys you!
(At least theres the chozo you fight, friggan mawkin tribe)
Never played metroid… hell idek know what it is to be honest but this enemy design is what i live for, if someone describes to me what it does, what it’s purpose is, how it kills you and, why can’t we defeat it like a normal enemy? Is it kinda like Resident Evil’s Stalker type enemies?
2:03 I'm embarrassed to see that made me jump the first time
The blue one didn't get a cutscene? I thought that was weird.
Is it just me or does the E.M.M.I’s head resemble Nightmare’s gravity manipulator?
If these Emmis are evil,
Mother brain: Perfect, now, My new army which are Emmis, you must elemate the bonty hunter named Samus, Terrimated her at once!! And do not fail me.
Your aiming bro....
How about the red E.M.M.I? You seemed to miss it.
It's not easy the first time around that's for sure
I was lucky and mostly skipped one emmi in the game as i just ran through and didnt even encounter it.

I suck at the first white Emmi chase
They should’ve had like 2 or 3 or even 1 emmi. Have it evolve and patrol more areas. It just becomes tedious. SA-X was done better. Plus killing them all the exact same way was a bit boring
Dude i played the demo and i never missed 😐 and im getting this game in 2 weeks and your telling me this guy can’t aim
Are you a bot? You tryed the same not working strats on the yellow ammi to often
2:08 that shit happens exactly to me, i just jump there
What the heck were these things built for?
To gather blood samples from various creatures. Of course, the builders also knew the robots would be at risk of getting the shit beat out of them by any large creatures they happen to piss off.
Not only that but Raven Beak actually beat the first one up. No weapons, just beat it with his bare hands.
Where is the orange E.M.M.I????
Does anyone have any theorys on what ripped up the first emmi?
