It is possible! During my time, there were two of us from our country who got the scholarship. The other guy used to study the Japanese language and decided he'd pursue biology in Japan. In your case you wanna do social science from a natural science background. That should also be fine! They'll probably ask you about it, though. And you'll probably have to justify that decision in your application. But all they want to know is "Are you serious with the field you are choosing?" and not just playing around.
