I agree, but I would give 30 days off my life no questions asked if he would post more than once a month on his main channel. But I am glad we at least get daily content so I don't have anything to complain about. I just love the ghost debunking videos and the goosebumbs videos.
Something about the censor bars creeped me out more than anything else for some reason. Not like, terrified. But they were somehow unsettling in the “real world”.
Literally finished the prior one and immediately saw a new one with "32 min ago" for a game I hadn't heard of. Boy did that jump me off the couch to play it, first.
A little bit of background info for this game. Keep in mind that Chilla's art has not confirmed anything, these are mostly theories going around in the Japanese community. Jisatsu 自殺 means suicide, yet if you use a different kanji, 自撮 it means selfie. 自撮 is the Kanji used in the Title of the Game. It's a wordplay on us filming our own death. The Man at the end is the little kid, and it's basically confirmed that he is supposed to look like one of Japans worst Cult leaders, Shoko Asahara, who got executed in 2018 for Mass Murder and Terrorism. Yet they only seem to share similarity in their looks because the Game shows no connection to Shokos general life. The game seems to take its biggest inspiration from a TH-cam Video called "My house walkthrough", which was made by a Japanese Hobby Film Maker who is mostly known for their famous Creepypasta Video called "User666". It also has a lot of hints to other famous Japanese Horror stories and movies such as the haunted doll Okiku, the Grudge and Ringu. The Game seems to heavily imply that this is about a Cultist Family, hence all the Christian Symbols around the House, which are not common at all in Japan and mostly just connected to cultist. It seems that the kid's family members started dying because the Kid made a pact with the evil Entity that is connected to the hole. Since the kid is the squatter, he can be seen constantly following us around the house, one part John missed was that you're able to see his feet in the closet before he runs away. Which feels very creepy to know we have never been alone in the first place. There is also the speculation that the Boss might have been in on the whole situation and may have been part of the Cult considering he tells us to go to this house, even telling us the exact address, yet he acts like he never knew anything about this when he talks to the subordinate who questions him about it. And his overall behavior is very weird. Yet this could be far-fetched. Sadly, we still don't understand that much about this games story since there's so little Dialogue but Considering how fast they put this Game out after the Kidnap, it doesn't surprise me that the story is somewhat lackluster. Yet i feel like the game doesn't really need to make sense because the atmosphere and hints to Japanese urban legends and horror stories seems to be the main focus. I still have mixed feelings about this game but still consider it to be rather positive.
idk if its ok for me to recommend someone else's video, and if not im very sorry, please delete this comment. But if anyone wants a more in-depth explanation from an actual Japanese person who speaks English, i can recommend the Video "Jisatsu explained" from Shohei Kondo.
The "squatter" is the kid grown up we're supposed to get that he's been doing the talking toilets bidding since before his parents and grandparents died.
This is what I love about John's playthrough. He's just being himself and still entertaining to watch. I've tried watching other streamers (even Vtubers!) playing Chilla's Art games, but I just can't. They're often being oblivious with what's going on in the game, if not obnoxious. John has a special charm on him that no one has
First you were a cat, then an android, now a belligerent employee of a small film company?? truly a chameleon Anyway I'm glad to see Chilla's art trying different styles/kinds of games so they don't get stuck in a 'samegame' kinda rut
I always wish the lightning is better so I can see what's actually happening. I barely caught the guy hiding in the closet whilst John was picking up something from it, Spoopy. Good game tho🫰
I loved it though, what was creepy is that you know someone is stalking your character in the house just out of sight. I don’t think John saw him either
One thing I like about Chilla's art games is, he doesnt hold back to do something new and be innovative in every games. While indeed some of the games are good and some failed.
@ 28:29 Love how the creepy voice immediately caught my attention, cuz years ago my ex did some backmasking in his music and we had a good laugh upon realizing that "Jesus" backwards sounds just like "sausage".
This one game specifically reminds me a ton of the scary short “my house walkthrough” just that specific brand of bleak and abandoned, thanks for the video!
Can't blame people who think John played each game beforehand cause he plays them so well! I can't watch other playthroughs because of that. So glad he's catching up to the rest of Chilla's Art games
I worried he would skip the credits 'cause of what he said last video about "if I hear music, I skip because of takedowns," but he didn't. That's the only time I actually thought it, and caught myself laughing about it.
Considering the overt Christianity I’d say this is more likely to be a son of Satan kind of situation as upside down crosses traditionally are directly associated with Satan
This was a real PT type game Despite that, it was actually a pretty nice change of pace. They hid the 'repeating hallway' aspect pretty well behind the general exploration of the house rather than making it the same repeating 'hallway' over and over. Expanding the zone really helped it out, I think
The key just sticking out of the last doll's neck was such a Rusty Lake moment. I also love how defensive John got over "Francis of A Sissy" when the statue was of St. Anthony of Padua the entire time.
Thank you so much for all the work. I play your vods and vids often in the background when I study and I just passed my medical state exam today. Thank you for the countless hours of entertainment and passive stimulation too.
This is probably one of my favorites from them. So much to say about religion and traditionalism. Depiction of Christianity in Japanese media is very fascinating and as someone who grew up Catholic and am now not, I connected with a lot. Thanks so much for playing it.
this is actually one of the scariest chilla's art games i've seen. lots of really cool and interesting japanese horror things in here, and the atmosphere is actually pretty creepy as well. glad to see you play through this!!
This kind of reminds me of "my house walk-through", an old scary video on TH-cam where a guy is walking around a creepy house in Japan and it gets progressively more fucked up
One of the most interesting parts of watching John play this game, for me, was knowing how it turns out and realizing that (at least in the present) most of the spooky stuff is actually the guy hiding just out of sight and messing with you. Even the locked door sequences make sense as him keeping you busy while he does things like move the TV.
@@pencil6965 I didn't catch it in this video, but I'm pretty sure there's a moment you can see him through one of the windows. Since he's next to the tape in that closet, though, it seems he is actively placing the items just before you find them, and he locks you in rooms when he needs to do something more elaborate, like moving the TV.
Loving the second channel! John and Chilla are one of my favourite pairings for switching off during anxious days - I return to the old videos all the time so these new uploads are exactly what I've needed after dealing with weird mental health stuff

I'm liking Chilla's Art trying to do something different, I like their 'entry-level job horror' works best but like John was pointing out with the Puppet Combo story, it's cool to see them changing up the formula. I'm only partway through, but this reminds me of Resident Evil 7 - maybe it's just because he mentioned it earlier with going into the videos and playing as that character, but when the character was going to the lady in white cutting stuff in the kitchen, I was really struck for a second by how much she reminded me of Margaret Baker (the mom) from RE7 and then I realized the house kinda felt like the first section of RE7 and the video thing John mentioned. I might just be seeing similarities where they don't exist, but I like that it's reminding me of RE7, it's not something I went into a Chilla's Art game expecting to think of (and I like that the plot isn't even like RE7, instead it's got a weird thing in the outhouse lol).
Guys, I'm no conspiracist, but I'm pretty sure John has played horror games before. Not only that but I think he's played games by this developer already! Caught you, John! Nyerrr!
I was waiting for you to play this one 😊…..There’s a cool found footage horror game series out called The Lancaster Leak, I hope you play them! Oh, and also Buckshot Roulette! I think you’d be good at it, many people say it reminds them of Inscryption
When I feel a jumpscare is iminent and I'm not up for it, I just look at John and his reaction instead. Then I jump back 10 seconds and watch the actual jumpscare 'cause I'm a sissy. A perfect example of why I need it sometimes; I brushed my teeth while watching and when I wasn't ready a jumpscare happened and I accidentally shoved the toothbrush into the back of my throat. So... that was fun
Chilla's Art, Puppet Combo, and Fears to Fathom; I will always have front-row seats to those videos. No one does the comedic quips to these games quite like John.
Loved these last couple Chilla's Art videos! Great job as always! Also, you said "exsqueeze me" quite a bit. I didn't know you were a fellow Jar Jar head!
I really enjoyed the scares in this one. Like legitimately I loved how things looked like a person, but as you moved closer it was something normal. I think Chilla really showed their talents in this game. I just wasn’t a big fan of the story.
Loved your playthrough! I can’t say this is my favorite Chilla game, but I didn’t hate it. None of their games are bad to me, but I do kind of hate the games that only a lot such a small sphere of light for the flashlight so it’s overly difficult to see. Just a personal preference, but I think games could be dark and mysterious to an extent but not be THAT dark. The V Tuber game is definitely my current favorite of theirs lately.
wow, five games in 2023? that's crazy. i know they're short but still i liked the atmosphere of this game, it was very reminiscent of found footage horror movies like gonjiam haunted asylum, and although they can be kinda cheesy and oot sometimes, i have a soft spot for them. doing the demon's bidding also reminded me of amityville horror and other possession horror movies. in fact, i think this would make a decent movie, lol. it felt like one of their older games with the videotapes and fetch quests. i didn't like how some parts left you wondering wtf to do and it was a bit boring or dragged at parts. but a lot of parts were sufficiently creepy. i'll have to check out your podcast! i had little interest in dbd or other asymmetrical games, but the new content sounds nice. i'm assuming the guy that crawls out under the house is the former owners' relative, like a grandson? as you thought in the video tapes. they were doing the demon's bidding.
That croaking in the fishing segment made me feel really unsettled for some reason. I think it might be because it doesn't sound like an actual frog croaking, but rather someone (or something) imitating a frog.
As someone whose favorite TH-camrs are John and Dashie, I find it so cool that John knows about Dashie!! (I mean since they have really different types of humor etc. but I love their channels so much)
I imagine the film company operates in the Roger Corman way. Have every cool footage you can, them take footage from older movies that you've done, hire some actors and see what can you put toghether in a couple of days, does not have to make sense, just be entertaining 😅😅😅
For the non-Japanese speakers out there reading this, the title is a really clever wordplay of the word 自殺 (pronounced “jisatsu”) which means suicide. In this case, the Kanjis used literally mean “self” and “kill.” The title on the other hand, 自撮, while not really an official Japanese word I could find my dictionary, would still be pronounced as “jisatsu.” Together the Kanjis used would mean “self” and “take a picture.”
Here's the deal for anyone curious. The binary code in the achievements doesn't make sense on it's own but when you compile them together [11100011] [10000010] [10110101] [11100011] [10000010 [10111111] [11100011] [10000011] [10110011] [00001010] without the brackets into an ASCII/UFC-8 converter (pretty sure it's the latter but the converter I use counts them both as one cipher) it translates to「サタン」which in English simply means Satan
I also appreciate the strongest man on Earth, Mr. Satan
The game was creepy enough without knowing this
Wack tbh, lol. Thank you for decoding though!

Something about the censor bars creeped me out more than anything else for some reason. Not like, terrified. But they were somehow unsettling in the “real world”.
I wondered if this was a Japanese cultural thing, and there was symbolism in the censorship existing in the found footage.
Reminded me of the mandela catalogue, especially with the angel statues and jesus
It sort of adds to that "something bad happened/you're not meant to see this" feeling, I think.

Just a personal preference, but I think games could be dark and mysterious to an extent but not be THAT dark. The V Tuber game is definitely my current favorite of theirs lately.
ooh I enjoyed the atmosphere in this one, reminded me of Fatal Frame
I have no life but I have more of a life than people that try and catch you playing games twice. Y'all need some fresh air.
Your videos are enjoyable and informative, keep inspiring your audience 🎉
Loving the contents John
John, you're too good to us
its been a while since i have been scared watching a gameplay, i was suffering almost the entire game 😰😰😰
I wonder if this was inspired by the Home Tour video, where they keep saying “this is the longest hallway in the house, grandpas not here”
wow, five games in 2023? that's crazy. i know they're short but still
i liked the atmosphere of this game, it was very reminiscent of found footage horror movies like gonjiam haunted asylum, and although they can be kinda cheesy and oot sometimes, i have a soft spot for them. doing the demon's bidding also reminded me of amityville horror and other possession horror movies. in fact, i think this would make a decent movie, lol. it felt like one of their older games with the videotapes and fetch quests. i didn't like how some parts left you wondering wtf to do and it was a bit boring or dragged at parts. but a lot of parts were sufficiently creepy.
i'll have to check out your podcast! i had little interest in dbd or other asymmetrical games, but the new content sounds nice.
i'm assuming the guy that crawls out under the house is the former owners' relative, like a grandson? as you thought in the video tapes. they were doing the demon's bidding.
Just found a TH-camr who explains some of the lore, shohei kondo
This reminds me so much of VHS
That croaking in the fishing segment made me feel really unsettled for some reason. I think it might be because it doesn't sound like an actual frog croaking, but rather someone (or something) imitating a frog.
This is one of their best games imo
damn right so soon after the last one nice !
John, I hope you're doing good broski
As someone whose favorite TH-camrs are John and Dashie, I find it so cool that John knows about Dashie!! (I mean since they have really different types of humor etc. but I love their channels so much)
i think they might've played among us one time
@@notorious.a.r.i. Ahh I see thank you, that makes sense! I gotta find that video now!!
How convenient, this got posted right after I finished watching Parasocial
Lovin it
john feeding us well 🙏
I imagine the film company operates in the Roger Corman way. Have every cool footage you can, them take footage from older movies that you've done, hire some actors and see what can you put toghether in a couple of days, does not have to make sense, just be entertaining 😅😅😅
We need more John playing horror games
John Wolfe. playing a horror game. huh. End of comment. nothing to add except looking forward to watching this.
For the non-Japanese speakers out there reading this, the title is a really clever wordplay of the word 自殺 (pronounced “jisatsu”) which means suicide. In this case, the Kanjis used literally mean “self” and “kill.”
The title on the other hand, 自撮, while not really an official Japanese word I could find my dictionary, would still be pronounced as “jisatsu.” Together the Kanjis used would mean “self” and “take a picture.”
